QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Feb 4, 2017 -> 10:13 AM) Shouldn't a lot of people be pissed for the amount of money they lost during that time and not just on housing but their investments? I was in school at that time and my parents said a lot of people were losing money then, even those who played fairly. My wife got laid off and my salary got rolled back thanks to that financial crisis. We bought our then house in 2007 for $269,500, and two years later it was valued at $220,000. Sold it a year and a half ago at $247,000. The above was all us being lucky, honestly. This idiot is going to ruin this country quickly.

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) So, Dodd-Frank is on the chopping block now. The inmates are running the asylum - literally. “There is nobody better to tell me about Dodd-Frank than [JP Morgan C.E.O.] Jamie [Dimon]. So he has to tell me about it, but we expect to be cutting a lot from Dodd-Frank because, frankly, I have so many people, friends of mine, that have nice businesses, they can’t borrow money,” Trump said Friday morning, shortly before signing the executive orders. “They just can’t get any money because the banks just won’t let them borrow because of the rules and regulations in Dodd-Frank.” And here’s how Gary Cohn, Goldman Sachs president turned White House National Economic Council Director made the case for getting rid of the fiduciary rule unveiled last spring: “We think it is a bad rule. It is a bad rule for consumers. This is like putting only healthy food on the menu, because unhealthy food tastes good but you still shouldn’t eat it because you might die younger.” http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2017/02/tru...ends-need-money

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 08:09 AM) I like how today's athletes are the sensitive ones yet the old dudes get in such an uproar because the game is played differently. Every generation walked up hills both ways in snow eventually.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 06:51 AM) Good segment with Inside the NBA last night. Barkley and Kenny were fantastic. Shaq looked like an idiot with his rebuttals. He's almost as sensitive as today's athletes. I think it's good to have dissenting opinion. Shaq likes to be seen as the player's commentator, so he had to take the other side. I think Chuck handled it REALLY well.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 3, 2017 -> 06:43 AM) I'd rather take Noel. No s***. I'd also rather have Embiid. I like to live in reality, though. Check that, I liked living in reality. Then Donald Trump began Making America Great Again.

Bulls have apparently shown interest in Jahlil Okafor. This is the type of target they should be going after, but they'll likely either not get the deal done or acquire him and play him 15 mpg.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) A third tier free agent who emerged into a superstar point guard (4 yr 27M deal...a total an utter bargain). A guy who even after playing great in Phoenix, traded for almost nothing to Boston. Going back to my point, I can't specify who we will get, but I certainly think we could lure / land players to make us better. Hell, we have had hot garbage at point guard and are a .500 team. I can't imagine how much better this team looks like with a real, quality point guard and there are a heck of a lot of them in this league, so I don't find it unrealistic that we could find one. No we can't. We don't have Danny Ainge leading the charge.

I deleted the Facebook app from my phone and the favorite from my browser. I reinstalled the app less than 5 hours later and the favorite is back in my bookmarks bar. I suck.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) If that's the case, then there are only 3-4 true contenders max in the NBA at any given time and I don't see how trading Butler and accumulating picks would get the Bulls any closer to that elite group. That's the point of this entire conversation. The only deal I've signed off on would be the Celtics deal because the Brooklyn picks could very well amount to two superstars. We're not at a point where Jimmy will get us anything, and I'd rather not continue to be stuck in NBA hell.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 12:09 AM) Spiegs has already had to say what Chicago athlete seems to be the biggest asshole (he said Kane), if he was mad his co-host was brought in from outside the station (he said he was pissed off about it), who he wanted as his partner (Rozner), reasons why he got divorced, and that's only from the 2 times I have heart parts of the segment. The ones I've heard Spiegs not answer are.....how big is dick is (Parkins volunteered his size, unprovoked) and who he would not save from The Score building if it was on fire. And this is why God invented podcasts. What a bunch of trash that comes in between horrificly loud commercials.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) If I was the GM, the first things I'd do is tell Wade to GTFO, sign Gordon Hayward, and then have Butler recruit CP3. I'd also bring in some quality bench players and let Valentine/Zipser/McDermott have bigger roles on the team to see what they can do. CP3/Butler/Hayward wouldn't be the Warriors or Cavs, but those 3 plus a decent bench would make the Bulls a contender IMO. I am not sure signing a then 33 year old PG who couldn't make an NBA Finals in all the chances with the Clippers is going to make us a contender. Also, you just said CP3/Butler/Hayward wouldn't beat the Warriors or Cavs, but it would make us a contender? You aren't a contender unless you can win a title. That team isn't winning a damn thing.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Feb 2, 2017 -> 10:50 AM) So I have a question for those pro-tankers...or maybe it is more a random thought. But why has the East sucked compared to the West (basically since Jordan retired)? I would think with all of the draft picks the East would be collecting over that run, you'd have seen dominate teams in the East pop up and in general a shift in power, but that hasn't ever even come close to happening? Now I'm not saying all of those teams in the "East" were tanking and the "West" teams weren't, just saying, that if the logic is to get good you need to get bad, then how has the same conference been so much worse for basically 20 years? I would imagine they simply have smarter braintrusts, personnel, and scouting departments.

QUOTE (Username @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 05:27 PM) 1) He's hearing a lot of mixed messages - one of the teams in the bidding thinks it won't happen until the trade deadline. 2) He doesn't buy that because he thinks waiting would greatly affect the Sox ability to tank this year. 3) He's heard that talks with the Astros have picked back up. He clearly didn't know of anything imminent - but in conjunction with the Nightengale leak it seems like the Sox are making a push to get something done before Spring Training. Edit: sorry for the double post you beat me to it! So he thinks everything at once and provided no value. Great.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 09:14 AM) I don't want dems to roll over on either, but I'm not going to freak out until the actual court dynamic shifts. It's reprehensible that the last one was blocked in a way never before seen by scumbag republicans, so it makes any nominee here annoying as f***.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Feb 1, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) Not taking sides but didn't Trump run on these issues? Why is everybody so surprised there's a wall coming and a ban on immigrants? I thought he ran on these issues. And he won the election. So why the outrage now? America elected the guy on these issues. This is one of the best posts you've ever made. In this thread, I think we're more appalled than surprised.

Ok soxtalk. I picked this up for 15. Going to download latest OS rosters and then apply your recommendation. Collectively, what're the best most realistic deals for the following? - Q (would love one centered around Glasnow) - Robertson Feel free to throw Frazier into the above deals I'll update based on your choices and then start my alternate reality tonight! Going to start the dealing at 8 for a 9pm game!

Well, at least we know politics isn't completely broken in this country as Betsy DeVos got through despite being fully opposed by the dems.
