  1. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) Bulls showing interest in Bosh? K.C. JohnsonVerified account ‏@KCJHoop Following More K.C. Johnson Retweeted Marc Stein Haven't confirmed @ESPNSteinLine rumor Bulls interested in Bosh if he's healthy next year but that would suggest a Wade opt-in, keep Butler. Twirl your fingers, people!
  2. QUOTE (brett05 @ Jan 20, 2017 -> 10:04 AM) Did we time warp back 8 years? You mean to a time of recession, marriage inequality, and health insurance declining coverage for millions of Americans due to pre-existing conditions? Yeah, that was all inherited and fixed.
  3. Only a few hours left until all hell officially breaks loose.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 18, 2017 -> 10:51 AM) http://www.vox.com/first-person/2017/1/18/...ump-vote-regret F*ck this idiot.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 02:19 PM) Anyone think the Bulls might target Dragic in a trade? No idea what the Heat would want (and clearly we don't have a ton to offer, but we could offer the expirings needed to free up there cap space and start a rebuild). I don't really see it working. The Heat are going to want back at least what they paid to get him. Miami sent two first-round picks -- one that will be used in either 2017, 2018 or 2019, the other in 2021 -- to the Suns, who also get Danny Granger from the Heat. Also leaving Miami are guard Norris Cole, forward Shawne Williams and center Justin Hamilton, all headed to the Pelicans. I'd rather have the two first round picks than put more into this roster.
  6. I have a 45 to 60 minute commute home. I'd taken to getting a 6 pack and enjoying it on the ride home. How f***ed up is that? Glad to have the old noggin squared away.
  7. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 09:09 PM) Its funny, I had digestive issues actually in my early/mid twenties because of drinking, and thats also when I met my wife. I would polish off a fifth of bourbon before going out sometimes like it was nothing. Sometimes before work I'd drink a 6 pack of beer driving home from vernon hills and then drink all night at work. My doctor reviewed my habits (I was honest) and simply told me I wouldnt have a stomach if I continued that much longer. Nexium saved me from my GERD and my ulser cleared up. I stopped any type of brown liquor for almost 10 years. I'm back into bourbon (whenever I drink again) but only to sip. My favorite thing was grab a 2 liter of coke and a fifth of Jim beam black and just kill it while pre gaming. So dumb You and I had very similar habits. Just kicked the Nexium this week.
  8. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 10:00 AM) Watched the 1st episode of Sneaky Pete on Amazon a few days ago and it was pretty good. Rest of the episodes were put up yesterday I watched that last summer and voted for it to be turned into a series. That pilot was originally developed for CBS, which clearly held it back while it was still exceptional. I'm excited to watch the rest of the series and am glad it won the ability to be made. Big Giovanni Ribisi fan.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 13, 2017 -> 01:22 AM) OK this is the Democratic thread. So let me say this, after watching Democrat Biden receive the medal of honor today, you have to wonder why in the hell the DNC didn't convince him to run for president. I love Bernie, but it's obvious Biden is a heckuva leader and honorable man. I won't list all the reasons why Hillary was a historically bad choice, but who cares how old Biden is? Trump is old, too. Biden would have won in a landslide over The Donald and our country wouldn't be in this potential mess right now. I know this board is stock full of Democrats. Why? Not? Biden?? You can say he didn't want to run. I don't believe it. He didn't want to get in Hillary's way is what it was. Probably my favorite post of yours ever. Biden was the obvious, perfect choice. Unfortunately he had personal, emotional reasons for not running. The timing was awful. Had the election been in 2017, I bet he runs. I bet he also wishes he'd ran right about now.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 08:09 PM) It's rough. Those nights where you go out hard hurt for 3 days at least. I'm dead tired and unproductive at work and with my kid. It's really motivated me to cut way down. I mean I was getting blacked out by myself on thursday's sometimes because there was a game on or something. You sounded like me. Just decided to shut it down for good.
  11. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 03:17 PM) How did she take it? She's being released next Thursday. Spoiler alert: it won't go well.
  12. So, nanny update. She'll be released next Thursday. Giving her two full weeks' worth of pay as a parting gift. The new one starts next Friday (had to give a week's notice). I went into my QuickPay activity just to see the recent trend to make myself feel better. In 11 of the 27 weeks since January (including tomorrow's payment) she has received less than full pay for various reasons. Now, some of the weeks included multiple absences (and two we entire weeks off 1 for vacation and 2 for bereavement). Holy s***, in 40% of the weeks in the last 6.5 months, we've had to figure out alternative childcare. BOOM we are making the right decision. Can't believe we put up with it for so long. Any excuse to miss work was taken, and we were too close to realize it.
  13. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 02:40 PM) Kudos man. 52 days is an amazing achievement. The sad/good thing is how easy it's been. I keep wondering why I couldn't just moderate myself. Oh well!
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 01:45 PM) I have two speeds: 0 and 100. And my 100 can get bad, real bad. So nowadays I am actually sober except for maybe one night a month give or take. Personally I think to each their own but you (I) have to know what kind of drinker you are. Personally I was one that would be out till 4am if I started. Drinking until there was no drink left and then sometimes heading out to acquire more drink. Know thyself.
  15. So confession time. Today is day 52 of my sobriety. Some random combination of an always-brewing controlled alcoholism plus lots of nights where wife and kid were in bed nice and early had me drinking like a mad man. I came to a point where it just had to stop yay those days ago, and needless to say life is pretty good. Anyone else out there ever struggle with booze? I just always wanted 10 after I had one and kept finding reasons to have that one which led to the 10 and so on. While I was a high-performing gentleman prior to quitting drinking, I think I'm only now starting to realize the very real benefits of not drinking the massive amount of booze I was consuming on a most-of-the-time nightly basis. I'm pretty stoked. Anyway, likely TMI for an internet message board, but y'all's my peeps!
  16. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 09:53 AM) Not sure why the world is laughing at us when pretty much every other country has done something as equally (if not more) stupid. Yes Trump seems like he is a disaster, but he was elected and that is what makes a Republic. We didnt change the rules when we didnt like the outcome, we didnt have a military coup. We accept the results and we do what we can within our system of checks and balances to make sure that even if a "fool" is elected President, that we do not all go down with the ship. Sometimes people need to learn a hard lesson before they can really make a change. IF this is the "worst" that has happened to our Republic in the last 200+ years, it still makes us one of, if not, the best freely elected societies. OH man, much worse has happened than this in the past 200 years. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internment_of...anese_Americans https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_segreg...e_United_States (1-3) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauly_Shore
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 12:09 PM) The water park one that aired last night was hilarious. I laughed my ass off when Frank went off the big slide. It's on the DVR. I'll watch with Workaholics tonight.
  18. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 12:31 PM) Nobody cares but 20 years ago this month, I started working at Blockbuster. WTF Father Time? That's awesome. My career at Blockbuster was from 2001-2005. Pretty much my second job all through college. I loved it.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 11:31 AM) Season 12's been awesome so far. I shut off that annoying Wiz episode about 5 minutes in.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 12, 2017 -> 10:49 AM) What are the Bulls going to do? What is the plan? I heard Mark Schanowski on with Bernstein and Rozner yesterday and he made the situation sound completely hopeless. The Bulls flirted with the idea of trading Jimmy Butler at the draft. They went a different path. They signed Rondo in a pure marketing/desperation move. Then Dwyane Wade feel into their laps. The perceived plan is that Wade and Butler will bring in free agents and they'll remain a fringe contender. The Bulls organization sees value in making the playoffs. They think that's what attracts free agents. Free agents and players like stability. The new CBA has destroyed this plan though. The NBA has basically created a franchise tag. When guys like DeMarcus Cousins will take a 5 year deal in Sacramento at over $200 million, to stay on a terrible team, the plan needs to be altered. I'm not saying that they should definitely trade Jimmy Butler. They should definitely explore the possibility though. I realize that he's a star and that it'd be nuts to trade him. How will they ever get good without dealing him though? They might have 2 1st round picks in the teens this year. They could spin off Gibson for something minor. Then what though? Butler, Wade and some young possible role players? I see only 1 possible solution to this problem. Trade Butler for an absolute haul. Deal Wade for something. Trade Gibson. Bottom out and pick in the lottery for a few years. If you don't hit on those picks, then yes you're terrible. If you hit on a couple though, you can lock those guys up forever. Otherwise, I think this team could add pieces around Jimmy and compete for the 6th seed every year. What's the point of that though? They have no plan. Do just enough to keep the turnstiles moving and grab an 8 seed and repeat.
  21. It was so bad last year. Time for redemption.
  22. So more on Taboo since I finished episode 1 last night. - More grounded in reality than I expected - Excellent cast - Hardy is unbelievably interesting to watch - Seriously, the guy is just interesting to watch act - The storyline, based in history, has me hooked - Really sounds great through the new soundbar I sure hope people give it a shot. It's well-paced despite being exceptionally heavy. I think Taboo is a wonderfully timed show for the barren slate I have on the DVR right now.* *Seriously, I looked last night. It was Taboo, Workaholics (final season just started last night), and then a bunch of cooking/reality shows my wife watches. I don't DVR Homeland as it's just as easy to snag On Demand, but that's literally it for shows right now for me that're currently airing on networks or premium channels.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 09:45 AM) I was going to say...good for you...I'm too owned by my wife to get a sounbdar. If I had one, by the time I turn the TV on (which is late when the kids are asleep), I'd get the ssh...kids are sleeping, put it on low. I've become the old man who uses closed captions cause my wife is afraid a volume past like 6 on the TV will wake everyone up, haha. Once we get the house with a man cave, I'll be in business. That said, I'm sure your daughter will love it when you bluetooth some disney tunes through it. We're in a similar boat, but thankfully we moved last year so there's plenty of space between where I hang out for a couple hours at the end of the night and where my daughter sleeps. I had the new show, Taboo, pumping through it last night. Fantastic sound.
