  1. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 07:15 PM) How does cutting taxes not help the middle class? Well lets say I give you a $10 coupon, thats great right? But lets say now you have to pay $100 for something you used to get for free. You are -$90. The problem is that what Trump sold you was snake oil and now your stuck with it for 4 years. And I dont think everything Trump said was a lie, I think that I could probably find 1 or 2 things that were somewhat truthful, but for the most part he just flat out lied and no one even cared. They didnt care that he didnt release his taxes under false pretense (no one even talks about it), or that none of his plans made sense, or that he basically insulted the entire United States. All that 49% of the population cared about was catchy slogans. BUILD THAT WALL, LOCK HER UP. This is your America Greg, an America where Hillary Clinton is less trustworthy than Donald Trump. Let that sink in, Donald Trump, someone who has repeatedly changed his mind on everything. I mean just a few years ago Trump was a Clinton supporter. So what happened? Oh yeah, people stopped caring about facts. Reap what you sow Greg. Preach.
  2. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) Look, I'm not upset Sec. Clinton is not the President. She wasn't my favorite, and I think she would have done a fine job. What I AM upset about is that the GOP allowed this clown to get as far as he did and that we, as a country, actually allowed him to be elected. I have had visceral reactions seeing pictures of him, whether it's in the Oval Office with our current President or just walking down the hall with a headline stating "President-Elect." Will he ruin the country? No. Will he do all the things he said? No. Will he be impeached? Maybe. But, this country is no longer the gold standard. Other countries are mocking us. Ireland, Scotland, France and Germany have all denounced or lightly scolded our choice. It makes me sad that some of the same voters that chastised Carter, Clinton and Obama for lack of experience, didn't care with Trump. I will always respect the Office of the President, but this is the first time in my life that I haven't had ANY respect for the man that will occupy that office. You summed up a lot of my feelings. I've lost respect for my country greatly.
  3. I am just eating Westworld up. I think we have three timelines going on here. Real Arnold (seen as Bernard) interviewing Dolores "back in the day". Jimmi Simpson (William) as young Ed Harris discovering a world that will take over his life. Present-Day - Ed Harris (old William), all the other stuff happening right now with Ford and Maeve I love love love it. Three episodes left.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 07:15 PM) In three years, I would be shocked if urias isn't better than Sale That's some f***ing crazy s*** you just typed there. With the frequency that prospects disappoint, I can't believe you took the time to type such nonsense.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) WAS We are living in a new golden age of America, where things are now GREAT again. Trump is the next George Washington, Washington didnt live in the White House, neither will Trump! I for one have accepted our new glorious leader and am thrilled that he has selected all Washington insiders to continue to run our country. As Donald says "I am going to drain the swamp" and by swamp he meant the Everglades. Mabye you didnt know, but the Everglades has some great land, maybe some of the greatest land Ive ever seen and we are making no money on it, actually losing money, and I dont know if you heard, but one time Trump ran a project that was underbudget and quicker than projected, so hell have the Everglades drained by January 30. USA USA That's fantastic news!
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Nov 14, 2016 -> 10:33 AM) Interesting that he's already publicly criticized peaceful protests and critiques from the press but has yet to condemn the rash of hate crimes in his name. You should get caught up before you post things.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) http://edition.cnn.com/election/results Maybe I am misunderstanding the chart, but the difference looks to be 0.3%. CNN has 47.7 to 47.4. It's from the NYT. They're projecting. http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/11/opinion/...e-win.html?_r=0
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 01:36 PM) Experience is imperative to manage MLB teams, but to run the country....not really, besides Trump can teach any General a thing or two about ISIS, believe me. Unless you're the White Sox.
  9. QUOTE (brett05 @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 08:00 AM) You would have a point if you could point to a single instance where conception led to something else...cat, dog, unknown creature....anything but what I've said, a human being. It's always a human being at conception. From a philosophical perspective, I would be inclined to stick with what seems to be the general view: zygotes are not persons. I do accept the obvious: a zygote is alive (as is an amoeba or any cell in my body), a zygote has full human DNA (as does almost any cell in my body), and a zygote has the potential to be an important part of a causal chain that leads to a human being (as does any cell in my body that could be used in cloning). However, these qualities of a zygote do not seem to be sufficient to establish it as a person. After all, the relevant qualities of the zygote seem to be duplicated by some of the cells in our bodies and it would be absurd to regard each of us as a collective of persons.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 07:12 AM) Wishing for him to fail is like hoping the plane crashes because you don't like the pilot. We all want to move forward and get to where we are going safely. We all saw that image yesterday on social media. And, of course, completely agree with it. Glad you shared it here, too.
  11. FWIW, I just posted this on Facebook. To my few Facebook friends who were for Donald Trump. I'd like to challenge you to share some positive stories about the coming Trump Presidency. The few Facebook friends of mine who were for Trump keep sharing snarky memes. During the election, everything was about how Hillary is a criminal. Now it's making fun of people who don't support Trump and making fun of protesters. I, personally, hope Trump does an amazing job. So, I challenge you who wish to Make America Great Again to swap from these types of posts to posts about policy and, if you can find them, positivity regarding a Donald Trump presidency. My first link would be to his latest tweet where he reverses course from condemning the protests and says "We will all come together and be proud!" That was a good message. Now, I think another great move for him would be to find a podium and denounce the Ku Kluk Klan victory parade happening in North Carolina today. Switch to positive!
  12. A Muslim woman in Louisiana who told police she was attacked with a metal object and robbed of her headscarf and wallet by two men wearing Donald Trump clothing just hours after Trump was elected president admitted to police today that she made it up, Lafayette police told ABC News. “She made up the entire story about being attacked, about her hijab being taken. There was no truth to any of it,” Lafayette Police Department spokesman Cpl. Karol Ratcliff said. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/muslim-stud...mits-made/story Ho boy, this doesn't help anything. Now all stories will be assumed made up.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:06 PM) https://www.yahoo.com/news/ku-klux-klan-hol...-230227525.html KKK rally scheduled for NC, Duke celebrates Trump victory for "our people" Yeah, the whole thing with blaming Obamacare is overblown...it's easy to make a villain/bad guy, especially if he's an "Other" but the fact of the matter is that casual restaurant dining is experience tons of upheaval and diminished profitability over the past five years. That has little to nothing to do with who is actually president. But it's a lot easier to hide under the cover of "It's Obama's fault!" rather than to admit they were taking tax credits and increasing profitability while squeezing the workers. Nothing new there. All those workers/families who lose health insurance and were tepid/lukewarm in their support of it because of the politicization of this topic since Hillarycare back in 1993 and 1994 might be wishing they had SOMETHING, rather than nothing at all. To expect competition/supply & demand to solve societal problems has never been the aim or goal of capitalism. It's to separate the "winners" and "losers" out (if your perspective on life is more oriented around material wealth and acquisition as the means to achieve happiness), those who own their own companies versus those who labor for others. This is where Trump needs to find a podium and denounce this type of action immediately. He really needs to do this.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 11, 2016 -> 06:11 AM) It really boggles my mind this is getting hardly a mention https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/moscow...218e_story.html To be fair, they also reached out to Hillary's camp.
  15. This is a fairly good writeup on the fact that Obamacare is here for awhile regardles... http://money.cnn.com/2016/11/10/news/econo...linkId=31023015 Trump has yet to lay out a detailed plan on how he'd replace Obamacare. But it's unlikely he and Congress will do anything that kills Obamacare for those who sign up for coverage next year, experts say. Open enrollment has already started, and the Obama administration estimated more than 11.4 million people will be insured through the exchanges in 2017. Any legislation will probably include a delayed shuttering of the exchanges -- and of the federal subsidies program that millions depend on to afford the policies -- to give enrollees time to find coverage elsewhere. The insurance industry will also need a period to adjust since any swift changes to the individual market could throw their businesses into turmoil. Six years after President Obama's signature health reform law was passed, Obamacare has become an integral part of the nation's health care landscape. Some 20 million people are insured either through the individual health insurance exchanges, the expansion of Medicaid or the ability of children to stay on their parents' plans until age 26. The uninsured rate has plummeted, and stood at 8.9% in the first six months of 2016.
  16. This conversation is going nowhere. A bunch of black people tearing a Trump supporter out of his car and beating him and driving off while he clings to it is terrible. Minorities being bullied, threatened, harassed, and assaulted is terrible. This thread is an exact reason why we'll never stand united. It's always just a pissing match. Can you children please grow up and talk about the issues? Do it over in the President-Elect thread, as well. The election is over.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 02:32 PM) The guy you laud as the best president ever said Hillary Clinton was "everything that's wrong with politics" in 2008 and spent the last two months unsuccessfully campaigning for her two days a week. This isn't a dig at President Obama, that's par for the course in DC. They all do it. Let's not give s*** to one side of the aisle for doing it as if the other doesn't. You mis-read my post. I was saying it as a positive.
  18. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) What are you referring to? Even the edited, context-free James O'Keefe videos didn't show people being hired to attack people. I am still shocked at how many sheep fall for these lies. The election was just won on a ton of lies, including this one. Someone who's been a sensible poster around here since I've been around fell for it. Unreal.
  19. Guys, Trump will be normalized. He saidw hat he had to say to get elected. He'll be normalized and we'll all survive the next 4 years.
  20. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) That's pathetic if people in current positions under Obama would give up their jobs because they don't like their new boss. They work for the country/people. Borderline treason there. I highly doubt they reached out to the people under the current administration. Having said that, they rejected because they didn't want to be labeled as someone willing to work for Trump when that nut would never be president. If you read the article, that all happened over a month ago. The same people will flock for the positions now. As they should.
  21. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) I've seen this a lot and maybe I missed something. But, what exactly did Trump do or say to make these rust belt types believe their lives will improve with him as president? We're going to bring back jobs. We're going to have so many jobs. We're going to have the best jobs.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) Well, this isn't good. No one wants to work National Security for Trump. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/tru...z&ocid=iehp They'll do it now that he's going to be President.
