QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) Obama had handled all of this with extreme class. I don't tend to agree with his policies, but I legitimately praise the man for how he carried himself and went about his business as president. He's the best-ever. Not sure what policies you don't agree with, but he's the best. Period. End of story.

I'm getting less worried. He said all this stuff to get the deplorables to elect him. Now the reversal to his center-left roots. There's lots of work to repair the hate that's been conjured up over the past years, but we'll be ok.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:37 PM) Considering he called Obama the worst President ever... This is Donald Trump. His opinions on people change with the wind.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:29 PM) That might be the best idea I have heard yet, and I am not kidding. I believe Obama just used this exact same tactic and now Trump wants him to help him do this job he is not ready to do. OBAMA: I just had the opportunity to have an excellent conversation with President-Elect Trump. It was wide-ranging. We talked about some of the organizational issues in setting up the White House. We talked about foreign policy. We talked about domestic policy. And as I said last night, my number one priority in the coming two months is to try to facilitate a transition that ensures our President-Elect is successful. And I have been very encouraged by the, I think, interest in President-Elect Trump's wanting to work with my team around many of the issues that this great country faces. And I believe that it is important for all of us, regardless of party, and regardless of political preferences, to now come together, work together, to deal with the many challenges that we face. And in the meantime, Michelle has had a chance to greet the incoming First Lady. And we had an excellent conversation with her as well. And we want to make sure they feel welcome as they prepare to make this transition. And most of all, I want to emphasize to you, Mr. President-Elect, that we now are going to want to do everything we can to help you succeed because if you succeed, then the country succeeds. TRUMP: Well, thank you very much, President Obama. This was a meeting that was going to last for maybe 10 or 15 minutes and we were just going to get to know each other. We had never met each other. I have great respect—the meeting lasted for almost an hour and a half. And it could have, as far as I'm concerned, it could have gone on for a lot longer. We really—we discussed a lot of different situations. Some wonderful and some difficulties. I very much look forward to dealing with the President in the future, including counsel. He explained some of the difficulties, some of the high-flying assets and some of the really great things that have been achieved. Mr. President, it was a great honor being with you, and I look forward to being with you many more times in the future. Thank you, sir. OBAMA: Thank you, everybody. We're now—we are not going to be taking any questions, thank you, guys, thank you. [To Trump] It's a good rule, don't answer questions when they start—[gestures at reporters]. TRUMP: It's always the last one. OBAMA: Come on, guy, come on, guys, let's go. TRUMP: Very good man, very good man.

I just watched the post-meeting comments from Trump and Obama. Trump seemed slightly overwhelmed and seemed to come away with a want to have Obama's "counsel". He's in over his head, perhaps by having his ass kissed with an olive branch from the respected leader of the free world he'll turn to him for guidance through his presidency. I can only hope.

QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:05 PM) I couldn't agree more. Yesterday and today have been my angry phase, and not at Trump, but the DNC. The elitist attitude of believing they could win all 50 states(I know they didn't really think that, but how they made their last 10 day campaign stops), getting way too aggressive, not stopping to listen to people and just playing politics. Hillary was "gifted" her spot, and nothing could have been done to take it away from her. It was a complete bomb. It's amazing how obvious it is just 2 days later. There was talk of flipping Arizona and Texas being one election away from going blue! We were going to dismantle the republican party. Unreal.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) Term limits put more power into the hands of lobbyists over a never-ending stream of people coming into the job fresh. They're the ones who will have the long-term relationships and understanding of how the system works. beat me to it.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) Did you mean to quote me there? I don't follow. Where do people sit on term limits? I'm a huge proponent. That's what elections are for. This just gives more power to lobbyists.
-
QUOTE (Tony @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:57 AM) There is no question there is a "base" of Trump supporters that are overtly racist, to me that is evident. Calling half our country racist is extreme and I wouldn't go there, that I will agree with. I also refuse to say if you voted for Trump, you a racist. I can think you made a large error in judgment, but I'm not going to call you racist for it. Agreed. Only half our country voted. So 24.9% of the country is overtly racist.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:55 AM) I think plenty of people understood that it was less a serious proposal and more a generic anti-immigrant/anti-Mexican message. Get the f*** out of here. Not one of those buffoons at his rallies wearing "grab my p****" shirts thought he didn't want to build a wall. He wants to and he's going to try to, by the way. And it'll be the best wall I can assure you that.
-
QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) If Trump really tries to get that plan in action he will get killed. Does anyone disagree with term limits for Congress? Or stopping lobbyist shenanigans? This is where I think Trump supporters were misled/refusing to listen to reality. Oh he won't actually try to do any of the stuff he obviously will try to do!

Changes won’t come immediately, but Vice President-elect Mike Pence is promising that some of the laws he believes are anti-Christian will be repealed as soon as possible. In a recent interview, Pence restated his commitment to abolishing birth control mandates and bathroom choice protection for Transgender people. Mike Pence has also been clear that he would like to defund Planned Parenthood, and overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision legalizing abortion, says LifeNews. Pence claims that along with Donald Trump, he will uphold the Hyde Amendment that prevents taxpayer dollars to be used for things that are “morally objectionable.” http://www.inquisitr.com/3698135/mike-penc...oom-protection/

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 09:37 AM) I'll say it again, I hate the fact that we elected Trump, I full expect him to be pretty awful, but God damn is it entertaining watching you guys (and other liberals I know) freak out to the absolute extreme. All while i'm sure you laughed when Repub's were concerned that Obama was a socialist and was going to destroy the 2nd amendment. CALM. THE. f***. DOWN. This asshole was a Democrat the majority of his life. Just because he fooled a bunch of dumb Republicans into voting for him on a "conservative" platform doesn't mean he's actually going to do it. Have you not read the 100 day plan?

This country had a lot of closet racists who are now coming out thanks to Trump. This is a nightmare.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 08:09 AM) Biden, Warren and perhaps Sanders all could have taken Trump out. That's an assumption that I don't think we can make.

http://www.npr.org/2016/11/09/501451368/he...-first-100-days What follows is my 100-day action plan to Make America Great Again. It is a contract between myself and the American voter — and begins with restoring honesty, accountability and change to Washington Therefore, on the first day of my term of office, my administration will immediately pursue the following six measures to clean up the corruption and special interest collusion in Washington, DC: * FIRST, propose a Constitutional Amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress; * SECOND, a hiring freeze on all federal employees to reduce federal workforce through attrition (exempting military, public safety, and public health); * THIRD, a requirement that for every new federal regulation, two existing regulations must be eliminated; * FOURTH, a 5 year-ban on White House and Congressional officials becoming lobbyists after they leave government service; * FIFTH, a lifetime ban on White House officials lobbying on behalf of a foreign government; * SIXTH, a complete ban on foreign lobbyists raising money for American elections. On the same day, I will begin taking the following 7 actions to protect American workers: * FIRST, I will announce my intention to renegotiate NAFTA or withdraw from the deal under Article 2205 * SECOND, I will announce our withdrawal from the Trans-Pacific Partnership * THIRD, I will direct my Secretary of the Treasury to label China a currency manipulator * FOURTH, I will direct the Secretary of Commerce and U.S. Trade Representative to identify all foreign trading abuses that unfairly impact American workers and direct them to use every tool under American and international law to end those abuses immediately * FIFTH, I will lift the restrictions on the production of $50 trillion dollars' worth of job-producing American energy reserves, including shale, oil, natural gas and clean coal. * SIXTH, lift the Obama-Clinton roadblocks and allow vital energy infrastructure projects, like the Keystone Pipeline, to move forward * SEVENTH, cancel billions in payments to U.N. climate change programs and use the money to fix America's water and environmental infrastructure Additionally, on the first day, I will take the following five actions to restore security and the constitutional rule of law: * FIRST, cancel every unconstitutional executive action, memorandum and order issued by President Obama * SECOND, begin the process of selecting a replacement for Justice Scalia from one of the 20 judges on my list, who will uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States * THIRD, cancel all federal funding to Sanctuary Cities * FOURTH, begin removing the more than 2 million criminal illegal immigrants from the country and cancel visas to foreign countries that won't take them back * FIFTH, suspend immigration from terror-prone regions where vetting cannot safely occur. All vetting of people coming into our country will be considered extreme vetting. Next, I will work with Congress to introduce the following broader legislative measures and fight for their passage within the first 100 days of my Administration: Middle Class Tax Relief And Simplification Act. An economic plan designed to grow the economy 4% per year and create at least 25 million new jobs through massive tax reduction and simplification, in combination with trade reform, regulatory relief, and lifting the restrictions on American energy. The largest tax reductions are for the middle class. A middle-class family with 2 children will get a 35% tax cut. The current number of brackets will be reduced from 7 to 3, and tax forms will likewise be greatly simplified. The business rate will be lowered from 35 to 15 percent, and the trillions of dollars of American corporate money overseas can now be brought back at a 10 percent rate. End The Offshoring Act. Establishes tariffs to discourage companies from laying off their workers in order to relocate in other countries and ship their products back to the U.S. tax-free. American Energy & Infrastructure Act. Leverages public-private partnerships, and private investments through tax incentives, to spur $1 trillion in infrastructure investment over 10 years. It is revenue neutral. School Choice And Education Opportunity Act. Redirects education dollars to give parents the right to send their kid to the public, private, charter, magnet, religious or home school of their choice. Ends common core, brings education supervision to local communities. It expands vocational and technical education, and make 2 and 4-year college more affordable. Repeal and Replace Obamacare Act. Fully repeals Obamacare and replaces it with Health Savings Accounts, the ability to purchase health insurance across state lines, and lets states manage Medicaid funds. Reforms will also include cutting the red tape at the FDA: there are over 4,000 drugs awaiting approval, and we especially want to speed the approval of life-saving medications. Affordable Childcare and Eldercare Act. Allows Americans to deduct childcare and elder care from their taxes, incentivizes employers to provide on-side childcare services, and creates tax-free Dependent Care Savings Accounts for both young and elderly dependents, with matching contributions for low-income families. End Illegal Immigration Act Fully-funds the construction of a wall on our southern border with the full understanding that the country Mexico will be reimbursing the United States for the full cost of such wall; establishes a 2-year mandatory minimum federal prison sentence for illegally re-entering the U.S. after a previous deportation, and a 5-year mandatory minimum for illegally re-entering for those with felony convictions, multiple misdemeanor convictions or two or more prior deportations; also reforms visa rules to enhance penalties for overstaying and to ensure open jobs are offered to American workers first. Restoring Community Safety Act. Reduces surging crime, drugs and violence by creating a Task Force On Violent Crime and increasing funding for programs that train and assist local police; increases resources for federal law enforcement agencies and federal prosecutors to dismantle criminal gangs and put violent offenders behind bars. Restoring National Security Act. Rebuilds our military by eliminating the defense sequester and expanding military investment; provides Veterans with the ability to receive public VA treatment or attend the private doctor of their choice; protects our vital infrastructure from cyber-attack; establishes new screening procedures for immigration to ensure those who are admitted to our country support our people and our values Clean up Corruption in Washington Act. Enacts new ethics reforms to Drain the Swamp and reduce the corrupting influence of special interests on our politics. On November 8th, Americans will be voting for this 100-day plan to restore prosperity to our economy, security to our communities, and honesty to our government. This is my pledge to you. And if we follow these steps, we will once more have a government of, by and for the people.

I am still in such disbelief that with everything that happened the last two years, it's the Democratic Party that has no voice. This is a nightmare.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 07:40 AM) I know you are joking(hopefully) but this is the exact type of thought that got trump elected. "Can it be worse than Hillary?" His demographic not voting is the exact reason that Trump got elected.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 12:01 AM) That's one person and it's just ridiculous that people are acting as if their world is over. The president changing doesn't change the country to the extent where people's lives are being ruined. There's too much in life to concern yourself with where the worst day of your life is a day of politics. Just like the left was saying with Trump when he supposedly wasn't going to "accept the outcome", these people need to accept the outcome. You don't win every time out. Luckily, like sports, there are more important things in the world to worry about after it's over. This is the problem. The people supporting Trump truly have no clue how bad this will be. The very people supporting him (aside from white males) will be the ones who will be s*** upon the most. They ate up everything that nut had to say.
-
As a white male who makes decent coin, I personally really have nothing to fear. But I want to f***ing throw up today. Things I am most worried about 2 days later: The US Tech Industry Leaving The Fact that Trump Believes in "Clean" Coal People Who Had Health Coverage Suddenly Losing It Abortion Rights LGBT Rights Minority Rights Everything Vice News Tonight yesterday covered the election results. They covered a woman in Ohio who "couldn't stand to vote for either candidate". She just loves Obama and Obamacare saved her when she had a child 1 year earlier. Without Obamacare, she'd be nowhere. The point being, she saw no reason to vote for what actually mattered to her because she was so uneducated. What part of increased minimum wage and healthcare made these people feel like they were being ignored? Do they really think MINING JOBS are the f***ing answer? I also saw a fantastic article about Google and Facebook's algorithms being a huge reason why the election swung to Trump. Facebook and Google feed you what you WANT to see in your newsfeed and not-so-organic results by understanding what you click on and what interests you. So the uneducated who think that Hillary is a criminal or that Obama isn't American will just keep seeing the same s*** over-and-over-and-over. And when they turn on the evening news, instead of seeing anything with substance, they see Trump spouting off about Crooked Hillary and no coverage of the issues whatsoever. Now we are left with, and I am not exaggerating, a Presidency that could set us back decades and leave my kid and her kids picking up the pieces.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 06:49 AM) huh? If Florida's under water, parts of California will likely be under water as well.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 10, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) Bah, Steve just give that a few years and we won't need the saw. You've made a valid point, but we need that California vote so I can't hope for that.
