  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) So, whats the point of that game? Just endless crafting? Having s*** tons of fun, bartering with aliens, discovering new planets, galaxies, and species, and ultimately, finding your way to the center of the universe. If this doesn't get you excited, then the game is not meant for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/
  2. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 12:47 AM) I watched some Twitch streams like night and every person I watched was just harvesting gold or other elements, going to a base to deposit them, and then going back out to do it again. Just seemed like constant farming for materials. I was kind of hoping you could discover a planet that is habitable for human life and start to colonize and then eventually populate the planet. Is it possible for societies to grow throughout the game? That's doesn't seem to be part of it, no. Last night I warped to a new galaxy and immediately began being hunted by space raiders. That kicked things up a notch lol.
  3. Carlos Gomez DFA'd Somewhere, Hawk is jizzing.
  4. This should give y'all a better idea. http://www.theverge.com/2016/8/9/12405648/...-day-one-ps4-pc
  5. This was a legit good feeling last night.
  6. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 02:28 AM) This is pretty much it. The survival loop is a bit annoying, but the game is so impressive and cool that you put up with it. I wish it was more forgiving in that way, but I assume the more you play the easier those things will become. It definitely terrifies me with how much time it seems to require, at least the way I've played so far. Getting the ship operational definitely kicks things up a notch because you can fly around looking for whatever you need vs jogging haha.
  7. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 02:34 AM) Yeah, I don't know about this game. Is there really an objective? Or just, hey, f*** around and explore? I feel like I would bite at $20, but I don't think I can see myself spending $60 and then stop playing after a week of exploration. The first objective is to repair your busted ship and get off the planet. I was nearly done rebuilding my warp drive last night but am about 80k units short of getting the much-needed anti-matter to do so. The game does a great job of guiding you through objectives, and as dumb as this sounds, flying between planets and exploring is really awesome!! I was fully immersed last night, something that doesn't happen often for me in videogames anymore. I'm 3.5 hours in, so we'll see how much longer the excitement lasts. I know I'll be diving back in tonight.
  8. Ok this game rocks. I repaired my ship!
  9. Many people are saying.....not me, but many people. They might be right. I haven't fully investigated it yet, so I don't know,, but from what I'm hearing from many people........Things, I've heard things. Lot's of things. Not so good things...many bad things,I don't know, but it's what I'm hearing lately, from many people. They could be right. And then what? These things I've heard, from many people. Could be trouble...We're in trouble, folks.
  10. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) I think you and Reddy were the only Clinton all day every day supporters in the beginning. Maybe Steve too. Been with Clinton since Day 1.
  11. From a particularly solid review. I'm interested in this game, but not sure I'd ever be able to devote the time required to enjoy it. The problem, then, is that those parts are so constantly interrupted or put on hold for the sake of a survival loop that just isn’t very fun. s***, I’m almost out of carbon, which means I need to wander over to some local plant life and slowly cut it down with my mining tool. Damn, I’m ready to leave this planet but my thrusters are low on power; time to wander mindlessly until I happen across some plutonium. The mundanity of this cycle is exacerbated by an insultingly tiny inventory space that requires near-constant juggling and micromanaging. Was it plutonium or platinum that I needed? Can I actually keep all of these tradeable trinkets I’ve found until I stumble across an NPC willing to trade with me, or can I just not spare the space? These are the types of strategic questions I found myself asking as I played No Man’s Sky, and frankly they just don’t make for a terribly engaging experience so far. http://www.polygon.com/features/2016/8/9/1...review-10-hours
  12. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 08:38 AM) This is true. I think it would be a grave mistake for anyone to stay home regardless of who they will vote for. I think staying home is the dumbest thing an American can do, but to each his or her own, I guess.
  13. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 08:04 AM) Seeing those polls numbers makes me think a lot of people will stay home because Hillary has this in the bag. To be fair, that's chance of winning, not the spread.
  14. Polls-plus: 79.5% / 20.5% Hillary Polls-only: 87.5% / 12.4% Hillary Now-cast: 96.4% / 3.6% Hillary http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-e...-forecast/#plus
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 05:26 PM) I just wish the Hillary fans and this board is full of them would admit Hillary has been given this election thanks to the FBI director and media. That's all I wish. It also would help if you admitted she is a horrible choice for President, albeit a better choice than Trump. What if I don't feel that way?
  16. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 12:03 PM) So NBC is literally only tape delaying things by an hour. Ledecky's swim could have easily aired live during the prime time broadcast. NBC opted not to do so. It's one thing to air things on tape delay when the time change is several hours difference, but the only reason for it in Rio is that NBC literally doesn't consider this a sports broadcast... they consider it reality TV. http://www.sportingnews.com/athletics/news...0a12srewzuyl81k So echoing everyone else in this thread, blame NBC for filling every 10 minutes of the primetime broadcast with athlete profiles rather than airing the events live. Put your phone down for 2 hours and just f***ing watch channel 5 for f***'s sake.
  17. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) Just talking about Bastogne makes me want to put in the ole DVD's and watch again (if I can even find them). HBO GO
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) Ah, this is all according to form. Hillary gets the preferential treatment from the FBI and it's been all downhill since. With the media's help, the runaway train scenario is now being played out. Hillary (who gave a horrible, say nothing screamathon speech at the convention and was jeered during the speech; a speech that nonetheless got rave reviews) now is granted the "runaway winner" scenario over the rude kook Donald Trump. Trump is getting the media tag of being a rude wacko who will bring us to war right away and is getting no air time except for the "wackjob Trump" stories. Hillary meanwhile is staying fairly quiet as the media does the coronating for her. Very sad and pathetic we can't have a fair election. Hillary shouldn't spend a dime on her campaign. She's getting all the free publicity she needs. The "landslide" scenario has been painted. Stately (lol) former First Lady, the stately, accomplished Secretary of State (lol) runs away with election over the Republican nutjob/racist/warmonger. Trump should drop out. He has nothing to gain by staying in and letting this scenario continue. Nothing but positive stuff in the Hillary soundbites; nothing but horror expressed during the Trump soundbites.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 06:49 AM) Watch Narcos, which might be the best Netflix original ever. The story follows the rise of Pablo Escobar and the DEA agents trying to bring him down. It ranks right up there with House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, & Stranger Things. If you have Starz, then definitely watch The Missing. It's about couple whose son goes missing while vacationing in France and their search for answers. While tonally different, it's a limited series and is structured a bit like True Detective in terms of storytelling. Easily one of the best shows I've seen in a while. While not a newer show, I'll throw the one I'm watching right now which is Band of Brothers. I just watched the first three episodes and it's incredible. Somewhat similar feel to Saving Private Ryan, but as a 10 hour miniseries it can go into much more depth in terms characters and storytelling. And it's crazy how many familiar actors are in it. Great series so far. Band of Brothers was simply fantastic. While not as great, The Pacific was still wonderful - dive into that next. Rami Malek (Mr. Robot lead actor) is in The Pacific.
  20. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 05:20 PM) Bourne tonight. Damon desperately needs a hit, a lot of his films with the exception of a couple have been bombs. Desperately? He's coming off The Martian, one of the best movies of the past decade, for which he won Best Actor at the Golden Globes.
  21. Polls Plus looking GOOD this morning.
  22. The Night Of is sooooo good!!!
