  1. I mean, that's when the guy was a mega super-hyped young buck so I'd expect Seattle days would be when you'd be a fan. Regarding Pineda, if the money's right, fine. However, I agree with a poster that this team needs to get out of the gate early.
  2. Fuck that noise. Castellanos for life. Call his agent and add 20 mill to the life of whatever the highest offer is if he signs tonight. Boom. I'd be terrible at this BUT BOY WOULD IT BE FUN TO WATCH.
  3. I expect more out of you. They made the best offer on the table for Zack Wheeler. This isn't like last year. We didn't get played. They'd likely have had to come in at like 130 or 140 to make it worth pissing off the man's wife. OR get creative which JR front offices are never allowed to do and buy the dude a private jet or some shit.
  4. I just can't get on board with this type of lame sauce when the Sox are finally coming out of the muck. They made a great offer.
  5. This is crybaby accepting the White Sox as shitland bullshit. Joc would come here and immediately hit .185. These guys are bums. EDIT: I do like Polanco.
  6. I'm not a big fan of being tied to Marcell Ozuna. Too many times have I see a guy hit .240 or so the season before joining the White Sox head to tankville. Please pass on the guy. The Sox need to spend the money. Castellanos should be their top target, and then they need to bring in an arm to fit into the SP2 or 3 slot. I'd consider it a minor miracle if they scored Strasburg, but I can't imagine them ponying up the dough. I actually see Strasburg as a guy who's going to dominate the next 4-5 seasons. So let's break the arms down: Absolutely won't happen Gerrit Cole Would be amazing but likely not to happen Stephen Strasburg Stay the fuck away Madison Bumgarner Hyun-jin Ryu Why even bother Wade Miley Sure, let's do it (in this order) Dallas Keuchel Jake Odorizzi Rick Porcello The Sox are in a decent spot here because they do have two SP1 upside arms in Giolito and Kopech, so they don't need to spend $200m to bring in a beast. However, if they did spend on Strasburg, they suddenly have one of the highest upside rotations in all of baseball. So, to summarize: Sign Strasburg Sign Castellanos Profit
  7. Great pitchers actually quite often go away once they hit 30.
  8. Why are there two threads on MadBum? Also, wth happened to MadBum? Guy is only 30 but you'd think he was 36 with how his career is headed.
  9. Chris Archer had a 0.7 pitching WAR last year and a 0.5 pitching WAR the year prior. Why would we want to waste $10m/year on that? Dallas Keuchel is slightly more interesting but is a shell of his peak years wholly dependent on team defense and found his way to a 2.7 WAR last year Zack Wheeler's career is trending in the right direction with 3.5 and 3.9 WARs the past two seasons.
  10. Hey there I'll jump in! Boylen is a huge pile of crap. If this team was ready to compete, he was the worst choice to lead them there. Classic Bulls bullshit, and I hate everything.
  11. Guys I just discovered The Golf Club 2019 and my life is changed. Finally a decent golf game since the TW series came to a close (don't come at me with Rory, that game is hot trash). Why should you try TGC2019? Fully customizable characters Massive online community Said online community creates tons of real courses You can do careers with 4-day tournaments and custom outfits on each day of those tournaments You can join online "leagues" The massive online community likes to provide real stakes for tournaments It's fun as fuck. The end.
  12. Here's a snapshot of where Jose Abreu stands in WAR among offensive players this year: He's got a worse WAR than a catcher who has 104 at bats this year. FFS the guy's terrible.
  13. Abreu 2019 WAR: 1.4 (this is awful) Machado 2019 WAR: 2.9 You're comparing the players with statistics that should have stopped being used for comparison years ago.
  14. I don't come 'round here often. But when I do, I see people are still taking Greg bait.
  15. This really isn't much of a debate - the guy's been one of the top hurlers in baseball for 15 years.
