Empirical evidence that the Sox will be good this year
Steve9347 replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 8, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) Interesting, but does not qualify as "empirical" evidence. No s***? -
So I updated MLB The Show 15 to newest rosters recently, and have been playing a few games. I realize, that while this team isn't fully loaded, it's way better than last year. Playing with that roster last year, there were multiple non-MLB level players in the everyday starting lineup. With the Jackson addition, we have extras on the bench. We also have a hell of a pitching staff. Anyway, I think the Sox are going to contend this year.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) Remember when Ruutu was going to save the Hawks? Ha. He was a nice kid. He and Seabrook were the two who would hang out with us lowly interns back in the day haha. He just couldn't stay healthy.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) Never claimed I was a master of any sort. Tell me something. Go back to 2010 when the Hawks won the first cup on the NHL thread. Who was the poster who cited you, Tony, Krush, DBAH0, etc. who were the die hard fans? Yea it was me. Your other post was spot on before you put this crap up, but I did watch it a bit in the 90s when Amonte was around. Just didn't like it enough to follow it. I think you misread my post. I was complimenting you.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 06:30 AM) Anything to get Desjardins off that line is a win. Here is an example of a bandwagoner who was a great "get" for the city of Chicago. SoxAce knew nothing about hockey, admitted it, and then learned so much that his knowledge of the NHL easily eclipses mine as we type here today. He's a baller.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Within Soxtalk it is pretty easy. All of the people who were talking about the Hawks when guys like Eric Daze and company were still around are the true fans. Honestly though, it doesn't matter. I love seeing the UC filled every night, and seeing road games where Hawks goals are cheered louder than the home teams goals. It's amazing. I just find it comical that someone in this thread considers himself a non-bandwagoner when there's no evidence to support that.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 7, 2016 -> 02:14 AM) when newer fans pretend they have been fans their whole lives, or are diehards. Just own up to it and then it's all good. You mean like what you're doing? Tell me, who was your favorite pre-2007-2008 Chicago Blackhawk and what was your favorite moment involving him?

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 5, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) I've never really understood the complaints about all the bandwagon fans. I just don't know how it affects your fandom. Sure it can be a little annoying to see someone get so worked up about a game and know they had no idea the team existed before 2010, but again, it doesn't change my enjoyment of it, so who cares? Hell, my dad can almost be considered a bangwagon fan in a way. He had season tickets to Hawks for 23 years. He gave them up when I was born, and raised me a Hawks fan. In the late 90's, early 2000's, he gave up on the team because he had enough. I obviously hadn't been through that many years of Blackhawks hockey so I stuck around. I tried to get him to games and told him about the new awesome Arnason-Bell-Calder ABC line and how good Ruutu was going to be, but it didn't take. Then he started hearing about these young kids the Hawks had debuting in Kane and Toews, and I got him out to his first game in years. His 1st game back was the Toews goal against Colorado, and I legit remember the look on his face after he scored the goal, like "Wow, this kid is legit". Don't anything wrong, here. Mr. Emoji here is very much a bandwagoner. Krush and I, among others, used to get annoyed. But hell, the bandwagoners have been around for 6 years and have become quite smart. This is a great time to be a Blackhawks fan, and the more the merrier.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 10:00 PM) Hawks prospect Nick Schmaltz. Watch this. https://vine.co/v/iXqinwHOTta That's really not impressive at all. Idiot goalie needs to snug the skate up against the pipe.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 6, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) No chance Jackson was signed to be the 4th OF. They didn't give him $5mill to ride the bench. I agree with you. I think you'll see a lot of at bats from the 4 OF.

Spotlight was nothing special. It was alright, but it must have been a bad year for movies when that leads the way.

QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 08:09 AM) Not defensive statistic. Also, I hate the World Cup of hockey. Call me old fashion, but if the champion doesn't hoist the Stanley Cup at the end, it doesn't matter. Kane and Toews are paid to wear the red sweater with the indian head. F*ck that. I love the international hockey tourneys. It's better hockey.

ESPN/Jerry Crasnick article on Frazier, new atmosphere
Steve9347 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Mar 3, 2016 -> 12:35 AM) http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/spring...icago-kind-town "We're gonna make some noise this year, man," Frazier says. "Everybody talks about the Cubs and the young guys they have. Don't get me wrong -- they're a good club. But people are gonna remember us this year, because we're going to come out with guns blazing." ... One minute he's showering praise on third-base coach and infield instructor Joe McEwing. Then he's pledging to buy a cake in honor of Danks' 10th anniversary with the club. After designating Frank Sinatra's "Come Fly With Me" and "Fly Me to the Moon" as his walk-up music in Cincinnati, he plans to switch to "My Kind of Town" in Chicago. An official announcement will come later in camp. One of the first "puff pieces" in recent weeks to get your blood really flowing... Ah, Spring Training reporting... -
QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 01:46 PM) Jenks of "what is the coach supposed to do?" reminded me that there are very few actually good basketball coaches, and it's very frustrating we let one get away shoved one out the door in favor of a man who's never achieved anyone's pet project. fixed to explain the GGOTB "Gar Grip on the Bulls". F*ck this s*** team. AND THEN THEY HAD THE AUDACITY TO REJECT A DEAL THAT WOULD HAVE GUARANTEED THEM SACRAMENTO'S PICK TO KEEP BUILDING BLOCK, 36-YEAR OLD PAU AROUND.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 01:41 PM) Name some replacements. Not my job. But I can damn-well tell you there's guys out there who can/should do a better job for the CHICAGO f*cking BULLS.
-
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 2, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) I wouldn't mind giving Hoiberg another year. It's not like the Donovan situation where he's had a full roster, few injuries and he makes boneheaded decisions. Hoiberg just isn't getting wins and the team plays without energy. Sure, he gets part of the blame for that, but he's not the sole reason. F*ck that. Fire his ass, murder Paxson, and let's get some folks in here who didn't recently graduate from Clown College.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 1, 2016 -> 07:18 AM) I'm hearing some rumors that Kyrie wants out of Cleveland because he can't stand Lue Oh, you have connections to the situation, or would you like to share WHERE you're "hearing" these "rumors"? We got f***in' Chris Broussard up in here.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Feb 27, 2016 -> 09:23 PM) #TankWin It's unfortunate the Bulls didn't trade Pau and get Sac's guaranteed 1st rounder and Ben McLemore who could've shot us well into the lottery. But the 36 year old 7-footer is a building block.
-
This is just ridiculous.
-
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Feb 29, 2016 -> 01:13 PM) That's not true, it was a story about a man running away from tragedy, a tragedy that saw him fail his wife and daughter. And when he's at his lowest he stumbles upon Furiosa and the wives. The movie talked about mental illness and had a very strong feminist overtones and imagery. It had a ton of depth. Maybe we didn't see the same movie. LOL

Ian Desmond Signs 1 Year 8M Deal with Rangers
Steve9347 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I told you all when you wanted him so badly, the guy cannot be put at SS. He costs you more runs than he gets you. Yet all of Soxtalk wanted Ian Desmond. No team in the Majors was willing to play him at short. He cannot succeed there anymore. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 21, 2014 -> 08:41 PM) I'm sure he will struggle to hit .240. Victory

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 27, 2016 -> 01:58 AM) He got nothing. Not only did I say "typically", I did not buy Just Cause 3, the Humble Bundle is just that, a BUNDLE of games for 1 price (none of which I have even redeemed yet), and I actually skipped out on NHL this fall. Womp womp. Well, you talk about buying new games every other day to the point it's hilarious, so you're either lying then or now.
-
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 24, 2016 -> 05:54 PM) Nah, I typically only buy 2 or 3 games a year (The Show, NHL and one other random game) so it wouldn't really make sense for someone like me who doesn't typically buy or even play games that often. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 3, 2016 -> 01:45 AM) Ho-lee Humble Bundle..... https://www.humblebundle.com/ Just got the $15 one. Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Grow Home Rayman Origins Far Cry 3 Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China Assassin's Creed Rogue The Crew For $15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 8, 2016 -> 02:15 AM) Just Cause 3 is a whole lotta fun. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 10:42 PM) Firewatch released today! Got a 9.3 on IGN. I think I'm going to take a few days to knock that out and then go back to Just Cause 3. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Feb 9, 2016 -> 11:22 PM) Oh, and the Humble Bundle adding 2 more games to their Ubisoft package, it's now.... Call of Juarez: Gunslinger Grow Home Rayman Origins Far Cry 3 Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China Assassin's Creed Rogue The Crew PLUS Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon All for $15. In addition to FC3 being one of my top 3 favorite games on the PS3, Blood Dragon is the best DLC I've ever played, even better than Red Dead's Undead Nightmare.
