Official 2008-2009 NBA Thread
Steve9347 replied to The Beast's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) This actually reduces the Bulls cap room next season. In other words, we can no longer offer Gordon as much as we could before this deal. Miller has 2 years on his contract, Salmons has 3. I dislike. That does clear a couple million in 2010 though, and I think that'd be enough to offer a max deal to Bosh that year. Miller + Hughes = 25 mill in 2010. Get over Gordon, he's been as good as gone since he took the 1 year deal. Salmons will be a fine, and taller replacement. -

Supposedly this was a three way deal involving Portland, and the Bulls got Ike Diogu for Michael Ruffin as well. -

According to 670 via David Aldridge, the Bulls just got John Salmons and Brad Miller for Drew Gooden and Andres Nocioni. At least we're rid of the Noc contract. -

The latest trade rumor just reported on 670 is Hinrich for Chris Kaman. That works for me. -
Why is it called taking a crap instead of leaving a crap?

QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Feb 18, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Too bad he couldn't give some of that weight to the Missile. I presume he's more missilly because of his weight. Leave him be.

As I said the day we drafted him, Poreda will be no more than a bullpen arm in the majors anyway, so if he's ready put him in there.

Contreras could be on Opening Day roster
Steve9347 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jose Contreras really showed his dedication this offseason. I don't see how he could possibly be ready, and I'd hate to risk further injury by rushing him back, but given the shape he's in right now and what we all know can be elite talents, this team looks 10x better with him in the OD rotation. Buehrle Danks Contreras Floyd Colon/mix of youngsters All the sudden we're looking better. -

Havlat's playing at the highest level of his career. His work on the boards last night was something spectacular to watch. I think Q needs to realize that Kane and Toews need to stay on the same line... -
This dbag is just trying to make a buck. Bobby knows he's an All-Star level closer, and this dork can screw off. Bobby's changed a lot since then.

The answer is no one and everyone who got a dime based on their steroid-assisted performance.

QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) Why is it called a Hot Water Heater when you don't need to heat hot water? It should be a cold water heater. Therein lies the question at the heart of this debate.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) I'll bet you that, whether I like it or not, if we could have done Gooden + Thomas + filler for Amare, the Bulls would have made the deal. Every report we're hearing this morning says it was the Suns who weren't happy with the offers they got. Either they wanted bigger talent than they were offered or they wanted more cap space. That means that for the Bulls it might have been Thomas + Noah + Thabo + Gooden, clearing out the whole frontcourt, or perhaps that might not have been enough to tempt the Suns either, if they wanted a bigger expiring deal than we had. I think it's likely that the big packages (Aldridge + Cap space, or Conley+Gay+Warrick from the Grizz) were out there because that's the kind of pay the Suns wanted for him. They wanted the other team to meet a price that would be silly for the other team to meet. I think you are entirely accurate. -
QUOTE (The Critic @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 10:38 AM) I thought that as well, and found that either use is appropriate. I, of course, endorse the use of PROPER English, so I chose the more grammatically correct term. Whattya t'inka DAT? I think I subscribe to the Good Will Hunting use of the term.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 10:27 AM) I assume you mean for eating in hand, not baking or making sauce, or any other use. Pervert.

QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 09:20 AM) I dont know if thats what they call him,but he is the guy with the long dark hair and dresses hip hop. He looks almost middle eastern. I dont think he is running from anyone because if he is trying to hide he is doing a sucky job if I can point him out. I was thinking maybe he isnt friends with Rob any more and he made it a legal issue with him or something. That very well could be, it was just an educated guess on my part.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 10:15 AM) "those apples", as in: "How do you like THOSE apples?" Shouldn't it be "them apples"?

Gala apples are the f***ing s***.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 10:11 AM) I don't think that's very bold. Yes he's going to have to adjust to MLB pitching, but with his contact rate and the fact that he's a line drive hitter who isn't afraid to take a walk (although he's not going to pile them up) I think he can easily duplicate Iguchi's AVG and OBP as a rookie. The question is though, if Getz does that and Beckham tears it up in Birmingham, what do the Sox do then? I love finally having IF depth. It's been a long time. I'd guess let Becks continue to tear it up, and eventually move one of the two for other needs.

QUOTE (shipps @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 08:29 AM) Steve, do you have any idea why that one guy has his face blurred out on Rob's fantasy factory? He showed his face all the time on Rob and Big, and you could tell it is him even through the blur. Iam just curious wtf he doesnt want to be seen. My best guess is he's an ex-con or running or something. He doesn't want someone to know he's hanging out there. I really don't know, but there must be some reason. It's Turbo the handyman, right?

I watched American Gangster for the first time this weekend and really enjoyed it.

Chris Getz puts up a ridiculously similar line to Tadahito's 2005, but with about 7 fewer homers. We applaud.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Feb 17, 2009 -> 01:09 AM) I don't think I can agree on that. However, Bosh is a STUD. Dude, Bosh can score just as well as Amare, but also plays lock-down defense. I don't believe this rumor at all.
