Rod Blagojevich officially facing federal corruption charges
Steve9347 replied to Steve9347's topic in The Filibuster
The audacity of Blago is really just unbelievable. The guy is in his own little world. I can't believe I still have to see "Gov. Rod Blagojevich" next to all the IPass collectors as I drive on the highway. He's going to prison, hopefully for a decent amount of time, but I really wish he weren't still technically our governor. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 08:17 AM) Did anyone else listen to the tapes last night and wonder if that was the best of the evidence they had? You really had to read into his statements to get out what the government is saying. I am sure there is more, but what was released yesterday was pretty weak on its own merits. The FBI saves the juicy s*** for the actual trial. Don't worry. -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 09:53 AM) Not a lot of videogame talk. Lets do a crossover videogame/film thread talk. How much does everyone think Prince of Persia starring Jake Gyllenhal is going to suck? That movie is going to be terrible.

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Jan 28, 2009 -> 09:40 AM) yeah this is pretty much a make or break season for Fields, the 3B job is really his for the taking. Im not expecting too much but I was a fan when we drafted him so hoping for the best. I do think Getz might be our best rookie next season and surprise a lot of people with what he is able to do.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 07:22 PM) You don't know me. Just because I called myself that does not give you the right to. Now please, go away.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 07:02 PM) Don't take me as an idiot. You had passive aggressive underlinings all over your earlier comment here. I know a dick comment when I see one because I am a dick. You are correct that you are a dick, but I honestly was wondering if you had played/had an opinion on that game. When I'm being passive aggressive, I'll let you know.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 05:22 PM) Thank you. The one guy that decided to keep it in the original thread. Dude, I was genuinely asking you. I love that game. You need to really take it the f*** easy... you really got worked up in that other thread I guess. Obviously I had no idea that you were this pissed over an honest argument over the current merit of the sport. I just wanted to know your take on Fight Night, which I think is a really fun game. So I guess now I can tell you to kiss my ass.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 02:30 PM) Right now I have Fallout 3, Resistance: Fall of Man, Socom: Confrontation, MGS4, MLB The Show 08, Oblvion, Little Big Planet, and Guitar Hero III. Soon will add Killzone 2 and The Show 09. Being such a boxing fan, I'm surprised to see no Fight Night in there. I'm not a big fan of the sport, but that game is freaking awesome. Is it not on PS3? Of course, as an enthusiast you might not like the fact that most of the fights are made to end in the 3rd or 4th round via knockout. I'd be interested to hear your opinion on that game.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) Beer and sitting on the couch is nice, yes. You going to add anything useful to the debate or just keep taking pot shots at me? How was that a potshot. You outwardly said that he was boring but you enjoyed watching him. If I'm forced to choose, I'm watching UFC. They do a much better job marketing their sport than boxing could ever hope to do. Boxing is only surviving off their oldest of competitors, and watching 12 rounds of no decisions gets a bit old. For a sport that made tons of money off of "characters" such as Mike Tyson, George Foreman, etc, it's funny that you are so quick to dismiss the characters of UFC. Bringing up guys whose heydays were in the 60s and 70s when we're talking about present-day sports makes no sense either. Boxing has nothing to offer in terms of entertainment value anymore. ALSO: MMA involves much more than walking around in circles and swinging and blocking. Most of these boxers you list would get stomped in UFC.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 01:49 PM) Lennox Lewis was boring as hell, but I enjoyed watching him fight. You must also enjoy the four hours or so after applying new paint to a wall as well, then.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
Steve9347 replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The Ducks are shopping Chris Pronger and Rob Niedermeyer. The Blues are shopping Keith Tkachuk. I don't think Tkachuk would cost much, but I do think he'd be a good fit for this team's needs. -
Ha. I hate that we're still forced to even remotely discuss Jerry Owens as White Sox fans.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 04:52 PM) It's like how people b**** about Miguel Cabrera getting so heavy. Who the f*** cares, as long as they hit, they can be as fast as they want. These players will get their ass in shape when they have the chance to sign a 8 yr contract. Exactly. If he produces, who cares?

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) I've used Cartridge World and Walgreens with success. I've tried doing my own, and that sucked. Been there... trying to save a couple bucks for the company. Nothing like powdery, blue ink all over you.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 07:59 AM) Does anyone make a habit of exchanging coins at a Jewel or Dominicks for money in those coin-star machines? I did yesterday and was honestly ashamed of myself. It's just the whole experience of entering a crowded store with a tin can full of coins. Not to mention they rape you 9 cents for every dollar put in. When I pressed the button to begin the coin-star machine had its volume at maximum (or so it seemed), so everyone in the store could probably hear me going through this. Then the machine began counting the coins, which seemed to be even louder than the speakers guiding me. All the while I'm standing there guiding coins from a tray into this slit in the machine. It was a bit demoralizing haha. I almost expected everyone I know to be in Dominicks that day. You know banks do this, they don't charge you, and it's expected to happen there.

I hate when people are clueless about finances. They rack up bad debt here and there and act like they are hot s***, while we all know they are just.... you know what type of rich.

I get emotional when I drink Vodka/Redbulls.

Pssh. Batman Movie cards were the best. Those and Garbage Pail Kids.

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jan 27, 2009 -> 11:40 AM) Maybe I'll just kick you in the leg, roll around on the floor with you for 10 minutes and twist your arm, pull your hair and then be told by boxing scouts that I don't have what it takes to make it to the big show, instead. Give me a break, I'd rather watch WWE than that trash. You call that fighting? I call it shock value. No man with any sort of class fights like those brutes in UFC. Ha. The fact that you just said you'd rather watch WWE shows that YOU'RE just going for shock value. Unfortunately, boxing is boring and dead, and no one cares but you.

2008 BOWMAN STERLING GORDON BECKHAM AUTO
Steve9347 replied to Melissa1334's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 26, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) yea but its not graded. and what someone sells something for on ebay doesnt necessarily mean thats what its worth. mine is graded and i havent been able to get the value price of it Two points. 1) No one cares about card grading anymore unless it involves like a Nolan Ryan rookie. Anyone pulling a new Gordon Beckham card is going to have it a PSA 9 or higher unless they wipe their ass with it. 2) What it goes for on eBay is an extremely good indication of value. eBay is the #1 spot for the sale of sports cards in the world. What it goes for there is what it's worth.
