QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) People say you can tell a man's character by what he says/does when he thinks no one's looking: Who talks like that? It's indefensible, they will play those tapes during his trial and it'll be the quickest grand jury decision ever. -

What ballsy stuff by Blago. What was he thinking? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 07:15 PM) When you wander in to the political forum, you better be ready to detect sarcasm missing the green color. Your question there is EXACTLY the point I was making. That's what green is for... I actually thought to myself, "hey, the guy's pretty cool on TalkBulls, maybe he meant it sarcastically". I also know you lean left, but still, I wasn't sure. I figured attacking the response was the best course of action.

This is actually a ballsy, original move by NBC, but my bet is no one wants Leno at 9, I mean, he's competing with Lost, CSI, etc. If there's anything these white hairs like more than Leno, it's CSI.
-
The crazy thing is, NBC is abandoning any type of scripted programming for the 9pm slot in central time. That's insane. (at first I figured it would air at 10pm here, but in fact, it will be 9pm Central)

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 08:39 AM) And it's because the Cubs always back up their steals with s***ty acquistions. They'll get Peavy, but they just traded their best pitching prospect for Kevin Gregg. Obviously the Peavy deal is going to help them a lot more than the Gregg deal will hurt them, but the point is still there. It's one giant steal and then one giant brain fart. Like, the Derek Lee deal with Florida (steal) but then the Clement and Pierre deals with them (brain farts). Or they'll extend Zambrano but then sign Fukudome, or they'll make a good move signing Lily, then back it up with an idiotic Marquis signing. And it just goes on like that. All I'll say is that the Cubs are going to have a wonderful time over the next few years trying to unload the Soriano, Dempster, and Fukudome contracts, and that probably won't be all of it either. Every team other than the Cubs, and every legit baseball fan, knew that that Soriano signing was an awful one. I laughed when I saw Dempster's contract. He's a decent enough pitcher and had an excellent season last year, but that's a lot of money. The Fukudome signing got soooo much press, and was followed with soooo much blatant racism, I'm just glad I'm not a Cubs fan. We all heralded the Iguchi signing, which was a blurb in the paper when it happened, and he wound up being the much better Major League player.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 08:22 AM) He has proven this time and time again. Agreed. Will he step down? I'm thinking no. Good old Illinois politics. -
QUOTE (sayitaintso @ Dec 9, 2008 -> 02:16 AM) Cubs apparently very close to getting Peavy per rotoworld: One source close to GM Jim Hendry characterized the Cubs as "very close" to completing a deal for Jake Peavy. Cubs and Orioles sources told the Chicago Sun-Times that those two teams have agreed to a swap of Garrett Olson and Felix Pie, contingent on a Peavy deal. Olson would then go to San Diego. The Sun-Times also believes the Phillies are in the deal, but isn't sure the pieces are finalized there. Dec. 9 - 2:28 am et Source: Chicago Sun-Times How many seasons in a row are the Cubs going to get All-Star talent giftwrapped to them and blow it in the playoffs? Peavy Zambrano Harden Dempster Lilly That's flat ridiculous, but it still won't matter.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) They have really developed a strong chemistry. I still wish Carmen and Silvy were on, but I really enjoy Waddle and Silvy. That was my favorite as well.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) So CC wants to be a Dodger now (doesn't surprise me)... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3755609 Let's see where all the chips fall now...... Good for CC if he does sign there and declines bigger deals elsewhere.

Rumors: Sox/Reds Talking Dye for Bailey Swap
Steve9347 replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Mannnn, I think we're all missing the most important part of this whole proposed deal... I really want to get to work on a Bailey sig, so let's get this done. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 01:49 PM) But then I'd have to divorce my wife because my marriage would have no meaning. That has to be bad for the country. If you think your marriage to your wife would have no meaning because homosexuals were now allowed to marry, then your marriage already has no meaning. EDIT: That was harsh, but seriously, how does anyone else getting married effect your own marriage?

Ugh. Horrible news...

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 06:34 PM) Waddle and Silvy Oh, come on!! They are soooo mid-morning. And yes, when the dial hits 9, it is the same for me.

Mike and Mike or Sherman and Tingle... depends on which vastly different mood I am in.
-
To be fair, this guy did put up those numbers in a MUCH different era.

QUOTE (SmashROT @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 04:59 PM) Can his mustache alone make the hall of fame? No, but having Luc Longley in your sig definitely meets the criteria.

QUOTE (chisox2334 @ Dec 8, 2008 -> 04:32 PM) http://www.daytondailynews.com/blogs/conte..._about_dye.html How is it that people who write no better than a 5th grader are paid by newspapers to put together articles? Regardless, I do agree with him, and the consensus seems to be that the Sox would get more than just Bailey. -
He and BA could party all the time!
