QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) Poreda, Brian Anderson, and Wilson Betemit for Nate McLouth. I'm drooling.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 04:52 PM) Think you were dissapointed that the show was cancelled after two seasons? Try being a Firefly fan. 3 seasons

What the hell, predict what you got. You don't have to say who's going the other way, but you have to call what players are coming in... Wite and I collectively agree on the following: Erik Bedard + Adrian Beltre in one deal

HOORAY ANOTHER PERSON DISCOVERS THE BEST SHOW EVER!! I wish everyone would have tuned in when I told them to when I was trying to save it from getting canceled!

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 01:39 PM) I'm saying if you're buying for the intended purposes of the machine. An extra 360 controller isn't a necessity, nor is an extra ps3 one (but you can get a 360 pro with an extra controller, wireless charger and 2 games for $330 at sams club or costco). Yeah, xbox live is an additional cost, I'll grant you that. But the Wii online is nothing in comparison. VC is good, Mario Kart is ok, but it's all very limited. PS3 controller requires no batteries. I guess I'm just saying there's not a HUGE difference. Once you add in all of the components it's all about equal. I'll give you that.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 12:43 PM) Jessie Rodgers just stated that on a conference call with Kenny, he asked what happens if Cabrera accepts arbitration. Kenny stated that Alexei is our SS, and one of the young guys will be our 2nd baseman. If Cabrera comes back, he will be on the bench. I f***ing love Kenny. It was also stated that the arbiter is not allowed to take the economy as a factor when ruling. That doesn't make any sense.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) I finally started watching Flight of the Conchords. What a brilliant show. I thought that show was f***ing stupid. Just a ripoff of the Tenacious D show back in the day, but without the funny.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) The thing is though that the Wii isn't really all that affordable compared to the other systems. Sure the base unit is $250, but add in at least one extra pair of controllers (a necessity almost...probably need more than one extra pair if you plan on utilizing the party game thing) and a charger (which is a must have) and you're up to 330-340 plus tax. That's the cost of a 360. $50 bucks more and you've got a nice ps3 with a blu-ray player. So I guess you don't need extra controllers for the 360? What if you want to get on X-Box Live? Well, there's $50/year, while online for Wii is free. What if you want to do so wirelessly? Well, there's another $100 for the wireless receiver, something Wii automatically does. I don't know about the PS2, but the Xbox wireless controller needs a charger or an ass-load of batteries. A lot of your points don't make much sense.

Official 2008-2009 NHL Thread
Steve9347 replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in A and J's Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Regardless... a sport that allows fighting can't act holier than thou when a sexually suggestive remark that most kids shouldn't understand is said. This did not merit a suspension. Dallas acting shocked that Avery did this is also a joke, they knew whom they were getting when they signed him. This is the biggest joke I've seen since the strike ended. This is not a suspend-able offense. It should have been ignored or shown up only on blogspots. Now it's been blown way out of proportion. The Stars did nothing when Avery yelled AT FANS and their wives, but now this is something? Maybe had they taken any interest in policing him since signing him it wouldn't have even happened. I blame the Stars, and the NHL, for making this a much bigger deal than it was. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:36 AM) Im not that upset about it, he's a good player, but it really hurts our flexibility. I think the team needs those draft picks more than anything. Ugh, the last thing I want is to have him back. We're having a nice house-cleaning right now. Are there any restrictions on trading a guy who accepts arbitration?
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:29 AM) F***, Cabrera's dick-head ass is probably accepting arbitration according to a 670 update. Once people notice this I bet they get real hot. My only hope is this was leaked to force an interested party into making a multi-year offer.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 11:15 AM) Seriously, put it to rest. You too Stoney. With Putz now on the market as well as Valverde, KW would have to be retarded to shop Bobby. Wait until he is one of 2 good closers on the market. I was just posting what Stone said, not saying I thought anything would happen. Someone can delete this waste of thread.
-
Stone talked about Bobby and JD going to the Mets in a Fernando Martinez deal. Martinez is better than Carlos Gomez and has tremendous power potential. Didn't say the likelihood of the deal. A guy he doesn't think would be in the deal is John Niece, but he'd love if the Sox got him, and he thinks the Sox WOULD get Bobby Parnell if a deal were consumated. Pretty much nothing, heading to phone calls after a break.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) it makes sense to go to the judge in the state you work in to file a work grievance, doesn't it? What're you talking about? -

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 10:09 AM) I miss the Arrested Development chicken scene.... It'll be back after I get tired of this flavor of the week, don't you worry. CAW ca CAW!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 10:02 AM) I would like to point out Erik Bedard and Jeremy Guthrie as pitchers Mazzone turned into good pitchers for Baltimore. That is all. I would like to point out Bedard as a good buy low candidate. That is all.

QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) Trade completed Javier Vazquez's tenure with the White Sox has come to an end. The six-player trade that will send the pitcher to the Braves was finalized Thursday morning after those involved passed their physicals. The Braves are expected to introduce their new pitcher to the local media in a press conference at Turner Field at 10 a.m. CT. HOORAY!! I needn't scratch the sig!

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 09:32 AM) You might want to grab Mario Party 8 AND Wario Ware and give them both a test drive. I have always liked the Mario Party games, but conversely I have always thought the Wario Ware games have sucked. Mostly because all of the mini games seem like crappy DS ports The mini games might suck, but my buddy who is coming over says he played it and it's hilarious. Plus, Wario Ware is $10.

Who knows if Opie is going to figure things out; I was actually surprised when I saw him put that SOA jacket on to head to the funeral. The finale was really good, it was something that was needed. Jax tried to burn the book, and then had it taken, but it found it's way back via Piney's crazy ass. The entire scene in the safe-house was great. I don't know which sequence was better... praying Opie's old-lady doesn't get killed by Tig, or Jax taking off his jacket and heading over there and laying a beat down. We might see the building of a new charter by Jax and crew. I have to think quite a few would head to a new crew, or there will be a lot of strife and Clay (and Milkman, I definitely think Bobby would head Clay's way, he's got to be pissed at Opie at this point for freaking during the murder) will have to go down. Seeing this get resolved will be quite entertaining. I already can't wait for season 2. There is no show I enjoy better.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 08:59 AM) We're about to have our first child, and the idea of my young kid on the internet scares the bejeebus out of me. I will have zero hesitation to monitor any use of the computer and internet by her. There is just too much risk out there. Yes, when the Mrs. and I decide to have our first, and our first gets a little older, I'll monitor the hell out of his/her Internet usage.
