  1. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 09:11 AM) I dont know how many of you purchase WiiWare games, but I bought World of Goo last night and it is a total blast, a really fun little puzzle game I'm picking up the newer Wario Ware game this afternoon for a mini party I'm having tomorrow night.
  2. Versteeg is legit. That kid can set up a goal with the best of them, and has some nice moves. What a nice surprise.
  3. What a horribly written article. First, it's pretty hard to read because of how poorly it's written, second, this idiot still calls Jerry Owens a young prospect. UGH.
  4. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 4, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) These Obama/White Sox things keep getting worse and worse. Even Kenny's doing it, talking about "Joe Baseballfan"
  5. Consider me in the Tyler Flowers for HoF 2026 boat.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 04:57 PM) There's this thing called the internet. It's a cool little invention. What the f*** is the Internet?
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 03:39 PM) i told you my boner was premature QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 03:48 PM) I wish i had big raw-bones. Sounds like hi8is can supply you with a raw bone.
  8. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) False. The person below me thinks KW has yet to make his biggest move. Of course. The person below me thinks MHizzle is nuts for not enjoying the departure of Swisher.
  9. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) But the point remains, both were around 30, had major injury concerns hanging over them and signed for less than many other available players on the market (Dunn, Ibanez, Griffey maybe, Burrell, Abreu). And one had a much better track record and was someone I'd feel comfortable as a bounce-back option, the other I'd be willing to invite to extend a non-roster invite to...
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 12:14 PM) 2006 In less than 500 at-bats (448 to be exact), Rivera hit 23 homers and had 85 RBI's with an .887 OPS and a .362 OBP. That really screams "grinder" to me. Have you ever seen Rivera play a game, seriously? The year (2004) before Jermaine Dye came on board with the Sox. 532 at-bats, 23 homers (the same number that Rivera hit in 84 less AB's), 80 RBI's, .793 OPS and a .329 OBP. Who's the grinder, now? Only the guy who has led the majors in homers for RFers cumulatively for the last four seasons. Almost the same exact age as JD came over here, if we were to obtain Rivera. It's not always stats, it's identifying the players who have the most upside when their value is at its lowest. But you're quoting Rivera's BEST year and comparing it to one of Dye's worst. Dye was exceptionally better than that in 1999, 2000, and 2001 before injuries really started to rock his boat. He had a track-record of All-Star caliber play, not just one year.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 11:43 AM) Thats because he isnt all that good. Nor is Rivera. That scenario may pan out on OOTP or XBOX, but it doesnt make sense in the league today. KW is looking for young talent yes, but he is also shopping for some major league talent to add to this "younger" team. We've only seen the deals leading up to KW's big plan. I have a feeling this big plan is going to rock, and that setup deals are not yet done. Yet again, KW has proven that the trades he makes are those you don't hear about. Throw the Reds/Dye and any Taveras speculation out the window. Those are NOT happening.
  12. From MLB.com, the names are finally official pending physical.
  13. I'm still interested to know if we sent any cash with Vazquez. That hasn't been discussed yet, and I presume won't be disclosed until Javy passes a physical. If it's nothing, then what a steal this would seem like for KW.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Any time you can trade a reliever, even a closer for an everyday player up the middle (C, SS, CF), you have to give it strong consideration. Hey, someone with a brain!
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) You really think a bat is what they are after when there are two glaring holes in the rotation? One of those holes will be filled. Well they sure as s*** aren't giving a huge pitching contract to Sabathia, let alone any pitcher, so if we're going to guess a big FA signing, then I'll go with Manny.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 09:54 AM) I really didnt expect him to be this good this soon. Not many did. I expected him to play like this early next year...
  17. QUOTE (Texsox @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 07:33 AM) False. The person below me has used beer cans in a festive Holiday decoration False. The person below me didn't know you couldn't put more than 3 sets of GE icicle lights together in a row without them blowing a fuse, and now has to take them back and is pissed at the hours spent putting FOUR sets in a row on the front of his ranch home in Lombard, IL.
  18. The Bulls really should have won that one. Philly looks like two different teams within the span of 2 minutes. What an odd combination of guys who have no business shooting jump shots.
  19. I'm curious how the NHL can freaking suspend the guy for saying something that high schoolers say? You allow fighting in your game, bloodied men screaming at the stands after pummeling one another, but he can't say "sloppy seconds"? ARE YOU F***ING KIDDING ME!?
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 09:33 AM) Steve Stone, in his blog, said a couple weeks ago after the Swisher trade, 2 trades and 2 acquisitions. He also mentioned fans would be surprised. I don't think there is any surprise Vazquez is gone. Dye, maybe a little surprise before all the rumors started. Considering the White Sox haven't paid more than $20 million total for a FA in 12 years, since Albert Belle signed in 12/96, the shock probably is the players in free agency they are targeting. They are going to move Dye and sign Manny.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 09:10 AM) I always thought AJ's ability to block balls was pretty overated. Just the fact he was able to hit after having nothing from that position for many years made me overlook his defense. Exactly. I love AJ.
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 3, 2008 -> 09:04 AM) I think its entirely possible. Not probable. But something is up with KW and it is huge. $37 million off the books for 2009. Looking to move Dye. Contreras, Thome and Dye possibly come off the books after 2009, even if he is lowering payroll he has more than $.75 when things cost $1.00. In fact, he probably has $1.50 and things with the ecomony probably cost $.75. No trade clause doesn't matter. He has a blanket no trade clause and they already said he will be moved. If his choice is to play for a lousy SD team or come to the AL and play for the White Sox, I think in the end, he would waive his NTC. Miguel Cabrera!
