  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2013 -> 12:39 PM) Maybe it's just me, or maybe it's just the lack of success, but Keppinger's effort hasn't impressed me this season especially for someone described as scrappy. To me he appears to be mailing it in, content he got paid. Agreed. Especially the low OBP. I would've thought he'd see a lot more pitches and foul some stuff off.
  2. Ramirez is batting 2nd tonight! NO Keppinger! Gillaspie clean-up!!
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ May 8, 2013 -> 10:41 AM) To say anything the Sox do is a white flag is a Joe Cowley inciter piece. Oh man, hadn't thought of that guy. It has to be ABSOLUTELY KILLING HIM that he can't go off on KW right now.
  4. Good read..."Are the White Sox off to a bad start, or are they just bad?" Knobler article
  5. There's probably some discussion of this in the 26 pages of this thread which i'm not going to read, but what does the rotation look like with Danks? Is he better than Axelrod or Santiago? Would Danks accept a role as the long man in the pen until his shoulder is back to full strength?
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 8, 2013 -> 06:47 AM) As I said when everyone wanted to blame Walker for the Sox not scoring runs, if you want a better offense, you better get better hitters. If one guy could make .230 guys with .600 OPS, .300 guys with .900 OPS, their contracts would be bigger than ARod's. A coach does make a difference, but not to the degree many around here seem to think. You could bring the greatest track coach of all time in, it isn't going to make Paulie faster, and it doesn't make him a crappy coach because Paulie didn't get faster. The same applies to hitters. There are limits. People need to get off the notion that one guy makes that much difference. That one guy is going to ruin an entire team offensively. One thing to keep in mind, there are several guys who pay no attention to the hitting coach. This I know to be true after a discussion I had once with Butch Hobson, a former player and hitting coach. For me, blaming the hitting coach is a form of scapegoating and I'm as guilty as anyone. You want someone to blame, simple as that. It's red meat. I just can't believe how long this slump has endured. People are turning on Rios for his recent woes, but I have to wonder how many good pitches he sees anymore now that teams know he's one of the few capable of doing damage in this lineup.
  7. I'll tell you how bad it is: I seriously found myself looking forward to Beckham's bat being back in the lineup. Christ....
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2013 -> 06:26 PM) How long is it going to take for either of these teams to score? The pitchers have been great, but it's not like mediocre pitchers would be getting lit up tonight. I think we have a better chance against their pen than they do ours, but...
  9. don't embarrass yourself, Alejandro. hold 'em and get to the pen
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 7, 2013 -> 05:57 PM) The amazing thing is that Jordan Danks, with his long, "sweeping" swing, took out a 99 MPH fastball yesterday. he's shortened his swing considerably since early last year
  11. QUOTE (Knuckles @ May 7, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) Now a hit a bomb Dunn don't talk crazy
  12. HECTOR! HECTOR! HECTOR! holy s*** we've gotten some fantastic pitching the last few days.
  13. If I were a starter on the Sox I wouldn't even talk to that batters. I'd make them carry my bags.
  14. how can you not notice that no one is on deck?? I'm a freaking assistant coach in girl's softball and that never happens - ha!
  15. it's not really fair for Flowers to face Harvey
  16. that called strike 3 has been a ball all night. He hasn't called anything low. Until now.
