    Exactly. Yet the rules instituted by Landis state that anyone with knowledge of gambling who doesn't speak up is also banned. That's how he banned Buck, aka The Ginger Kid, btw. :D

    This team has a pretty kick ass pitching staff. I don't think people step back enough and take into account how woefully devoid of offensive talent this team is. It's easy to lay blame on a manager (I do too) but sober up and lay blame where it deserves to be: the front office. This offense is HISTORICALLY BAD and that is not an exaggeration. We are watching one of the worst offensive teams in the history of this franchise, one of the oldest franchises in all of baseball.

     

    If the position players were absolute studs on defense then you can scrape and claw your way into winning low scoring games but they're not. They're adequate, at best. If you think Robin Ventura is responsible for the poor offense then make your case. I think he's a player's manager who's laid back but I don't know what you say to an Adam LaRoche to make him hit the ball. I just don't.

    I got way into it a few years ago and read several books on the subject. "Say It Ain't So" is a good read and a good place to start. "Burying the Black Sox" is another.

    Buck knew about the fix so that's why he's banned. Curious...did anyone on the Reds know Pete was gambling on games? Why hasn't that question ever been raised?

    The brawl against Detroit that seemed to light a fire...

     

    Monday June 12th - Sunday June 18th....seven glorious days in which we went on the road and swept the Indians and the Yankees, the best teams in the AL. Swept them. In their house.

    Besides the obvious HOFer, I'd have to go with Herbert. Dude was clutch.

    What were the consequences when Adam Dunn came on and put up historically bad numbers? Nada. So of course LaRoche will be back. And guess what? So will Rick and Robin and the rest of the clown posse when they roll into Glendale next spring.

     

    However, doesn't mean the Sox will be a bad team. Because they have some very nice pitching, both in Chicago and on its way there.
