White Sox have flipped from sellers to buyers
The Ginger Kid replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 31, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) "Improving their starting pitching" is actually hampered by their poor IF defense. And there's just not much they're going to do about that. I think if they let Worth stay at 2b and find a good SS it would help a bunch, but you're right. -

QUOTE (Jake @ May 31, 2012 -> 12:23 PM) If the Tigers make the Cabrera/Fielder combo into a 1B/DH tandem, they're going to have a logjam when V-Mart returns. Do they still want him everyday catching? What happens to Avila? It's a good question. At one time they thought VMart was lost for the season, then they said he might be back in August. Seems like a big unknown at this point. And I still think the biggest issue they need to address is starting pitching. -
It must be said - Hawk Harrelson has to go

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ May 31, 2012 -> 12:19 PM) When you listen to a decent broadcast team--and yes, that would be the Cubs'--you realize what a clown Hawk is. Man, I just don't see how you find those guys interesting to listen to. Brenley's okay at times, but overall, they bring nothing to the game for me. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 31, 2012 -> 11:54 AM) Kenny is a strike early type of GM. Plus he may want to cut off a move by the Tigers. There are rumblings that they might move Fielder to DH, Cabby back to first and trade for a 3b or SS (if they move Peralta to 3b). Seems like the Sox would also be in the market for a 3b. It's a weird year because so far I don't see a starting staff that I think is so dominant that the Sox can't compete with them. Maybe you guys do, but not me. Everyone has some holes. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ May 31, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) I know I tune in specifically to hear him call games, because it's like music to my ears. And I'm not even a Dodger fan. Vinny may be losing a step or two, but I hope some soxtalkers get the chance listen to his call of the sox series coming up in a few weeks. Chances are they'll learn something new about some Sox player and/or coach that they never knew. Used to be that you'd be sitting in Dodger stadium and still listening to Vinny because so many people had little transistor radios tuned in to him. His voice just seemed to be everywhere. It was great! Not too long ago I sat next to an older couple and the woman had one in her lap while she kept score. It was nice to hear again. -
I definitely like Hudson on the bench as a backup infielder and the occasional LH bat. Plus his character is a plus and good for the team to have around. If healthy, I think Morel deserves a shot out there.

I'd like to see them take a shot with Richie Shaffer, 3B

Maddon and Zobrist both praise Wegner's call to toss Q.

QUOTE (59th street @ May 30, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) When Danks returns do you send Quintana back down or is there another roster move that keeps him in Chicago? He has done an excellent job in all three of his opportunities. Hard to believe as he is a member of the WORST FARM SYSTEM IN THE HISTORY OF THE GALAXY. If only kenny were more like that guy in toronto with the funny name

I look forward to the rematch with these little b****es.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 30, 2012 -> 01:57 PM) To me it is reason #1 of why he needs to stay. That was epically entertaining and well said. Damnit, you beat me to it. Yes, he was awesome in vocalizing the outrage of fans on that call. -

Is this team perhaps the most fun one you've watched?

QUOTE (G&T @ May 29, 2012 -> 06:40 PM) 2000 was the most fun. No lead was too big...until the playoffs. that really was a fun team that kind of came out of nowhere. good comparison. -
back to back series wins against 1st place teams. We might even get a mention near the end of sportscenter.

QUOTE (fathom @ May 29, 2012 -> 06:05 PM) Filthy slider by Humber...much better command as the game is going on it's a huge sigh of relief to see him having another good outing.

Gotta believe Sale's start fired-up the staff. Phillip, do this.
-
QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ May 29, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) Agreed. I'm enjoying the current ride, but not fully ready to jump all in just yet. I will start thinking post season after I see where we are following that brutal schedule in July

Sale back to the rotation per KW, MRI comes back clean

QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ May 29, 2012 -> 11:52 AM) I’m not a doctor and I don’t play one on the web, but how does that guy throw 115 pitches in May? Say this for the Sox, though: They have a history of keeping pitchers healthy and making them better. Sale appears to be a particularly acute project in that regard. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 8, 2012 -> 07:34 AM) http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article....articleid=16160 the rest are at the link Remember this prediction of regression? Granted, season is still young, but c'mon...we're talking PROgression in the way PK is absolutely working the ball to all fields in all counts. Like Peavy said, if it were him, he'd throw Paul 4 balls and give him 1st base.

that fat ass in detroit will get it. hope paul gets to go rest in that house in scottsdale...can't remember how big it is.
