  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 12, 2012 -> 07:09 PM) We will win this game Never mind. Robin must've read my post and taken out Jones to secure the loss. Sure glad we traded for Stewart. He's all we have to show for Hudson, right?
  2. Rex Hudler used to be fun. He's just brutal now.
  3. I don't think his swing looks anything like it did in '09. If Beckham 2.0 works, fine. But he used to stand straighter and take more compact cuts. He didn't coil like he does now and his timing device was very simple back then.
  4. Hard to believe Ozzie opted for JP over this guy last season. Whatever. Somebody teach this dude to slide, though. 3x in the last week I thought he was injured, including tonight.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 11, 2012 -> 10:34 AM) I don't despise Rogers as much as most. I like reading him. He blasts KW all the time and I don't mind it since I don't think much of KW's body of work the last several years, but this is exactly the type of move he's blasted KW for making the past few years. It makes zero sense. Youkilis is constantly on the DL, his production is slipping quickly and he makes a ton of money. Why would you trade Thornton and Floyd with Youk being the big piece back? If you really wanted Youkilis, I bet you Boston would give him away if you took all the money and would give him up for just about anyone saving them cash. Throw in Addison Reed and that's a SOLID Kenny move right there.
  6. Danny Valencia, hitting .190 (a higher clip than Morel), gets sent down to figure it out and takes the news well, saying he can't blame them.
  7. Clearly this has not been handled perfectly, neither from a personnel standpoint nor from a press relations perspective. Funny to see Gonzalez characterize the Sox' non-announcement of a closer as them gloating "about the secrecy of their closer." Sounds like a beat writer feeling stung. But I'm willing to give KW the benefit of the doubt on this one and say he didn't foresee problems with Sale adjusting to the new role, certainly not this soon. He was effective but his velocity was down. Then he started having some soreness. The pain got worse, the Sox reacted quickly, pulling him from the rotation. Sale's feelings aside, I support the move. Yes, the whole MRI thing seems a bit bungled, as does the plan for this season and beyond with one guy saying one thing and another saying something else. Happens when you get blindsided.
  8. Can't believe I'm saying this but that's one article by Cowley I kinda have to agree with. Seems like Cooper spoke out of turn when he brought up Sale returning to the rotation, especially when the manager seemed to be saying the exact opposite. It's only speculation, but that may be why Rick Hahn went to Cleveland and talked to both Robin and Coop, maybe one of those "let's all get on the same page here" discussions. But someone else made a good point about how other teams are handling converted relievers this season, skipping starts and bringing them out of the pen on occasion. There does seem to be some conflicting POV's on Chris Sale within the organization.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 9, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) I'd like to see Jake go 7 and done. Give Nate Jones the 8th, and maybe Stewart the 9th or something. change your mind yet?
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 9, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) He's beginning to look like the Golden Boy again. He's back to lifting that left foot up pretty high again, watch him next time. Maybe that was the plan all along, don't know. But they worked with him to keep it down and help his timing.
  11. any chance he'll pull Jake and give the pen some work with a day off tomorrow? makes too much sense?
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 9, 2012 -> 06:21 PM) I think he kinda sparred the ball with his glove and gut. Looks to be alright. thanks. Seems like we've seen quite a few atom balls at our pitchers of late
  13. I was SO wrong about Jerry Owens. Had high hopes for that dude.
  14. I missed the replay, did that come-backer hit Jake in the gut or did he glove it?
  15. No way Konerko would've been trying to do that 4-5 years ago - he's evolved into such a terrific hitter
