  1. it's worth noting that Ohman threw 4 excellent IB's to AJ there. We've been struggling in that area, it's obvious Coop has fixed it.
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) We are living on borrowed time. No O means no glOry. you should tour the country inspiring school children. You're like Up With People.
  3. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:50 PM) I never have confidence about the Sox winning. I assume the worst will happen, and usually it does. I so wish I had the 2005, 2006 (first half) feeling back. I felt every game was ours no matter the match up or score in 6th inning or earlier. 05 especially - it was insane how confident I felt about 1 run games
  4. if we get past this inning i think we win, but got a weird feeling about this 3rd out
  5. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) Another LHB with a hit off MT! but it was todd helton
  6. QUOTE (aprec32 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:02 PM) Is that the same Houston Street that owned us in Oakland? yup
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 07:40 PM) It looked like both, but it could be his toe is bothering him. He popped up to first and only went about halfway down the line and he looked totally lost when he dropped a ball. amazing. good for ozzie
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) Well you guys got your wish, Rios seemingly benched. did he dog it on the bases or in the field?
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 06:50 PM) QIDP. it's beyond snake bit, we're jinxed
  10. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:16 AM) It's time for a winning streak, people. I'm in. Not all in, but I'm in.
  11. Somehow Adam needs to get to the point "mentally" where every at bat is not some sort of confirmation of failure/success. On the "physical" side, I for one would love to see him try and go to left/center. I remember this guy hitting for awesome power to left field. Now he seems to be trying to pull everything. His first goal should be CONTACT, because he's whiffing at an extraordinary rate. Leave that bat in the zone longer, start hitting then driving the ball the other way and I truly believe everything will click. That concludes another edition of "The Ginger Kid's Hitter's Corner," join us next week when we discuss "The Hitch" (aka, Gordon Beckham).
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) No, its a fact. The guy is the same size he's been for the last 3-4 years. He works out in the offseason with the exception of taking flips. Its 100% mental. looks bigger to me. And it's more than mental that's making him unable to catch up to fastballs. Unless you think starting his swing too late is only mental.
  13. So how long before we see a Jermaine Dye appreciation day? I don't think his number gets retired, but it would be nice to see the White Sox acknowledge his retirement and his contribution to the team. I hope there's something in the works...
  14. VMart hitting behind Cabrera is an awesome tandem. BTW, why did Detoilet wait until Sparky was dead and gone to retire his number?
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) That's why the whole team hated Mark Buehrle from 2001-2007 or so as well. No one could stand that guy. I've never seen a guy hated so much by his clubhouse. If only he didn't tell them how his offseason routine was to shut down completely, maybe things would have been different. If you see those two cases as the same then there's really no point in discussing it. Oh wait, you weren't trying to discuss anything anyway. I think you were trying to be clever. Sorry, missed that.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:11 AM) MLB's financial situation is fine, really better than any other major sport, and the Dodgers problems have absolutely nothing to do with the existence of guaranteed contracts. If the Dodgers payroll was half of what it was, they'd still be in bankruptcy, the McCourts would just own more houses. The Dodgers actually made money under McCourt and did pretty well. Problem is, he spent it like a drunk sailor. Borrowed 100 million against it. Just acted so irresponsibly. Now he admits he made mistakes, and has the gall to expect MLB to give him a 2nd chance.
  17. I thought it was interesting when Pierre suggested that he didn't think the team was being vocal enough in its support of Dunn. If that dude is feeling on on island I assure you it was of his own making. Bragging about not picking up a bat all off-season? Probably not a strong move.
  18. Every day I come to this site hoping to see a thread that says a real change has been made to the composition of this team. So disappointing.
  19. Dear Kenny, Please, whatever you do, DON'T change this lineup. The last thing we want is for anyone to think you're panicking. Any effort to add a jolt to an offense that's been stagnant since April could be misconstrued as a lack of confidence in the current group of underachievers. Sincerely, AFan
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 07:56 PM) With 3 more whiffs today, Adam Dunn has now K'd 96 times in 227 at bats. That's a K% of 42.3. Exactly the same percentage that all-time single-season whiff champion Mark Reynolds K'd at last season. We've still got half a season to go. But unless Adam Dunn does something incredibly extraordinary from here on out, I feel confident in saying that year 1 of Adam Dunn era on the Southside has been less than exemplary. It's an epic bust and just wishing/hoping/praying for a turnaround isn't going to make it happen. Walker says it's a very simple fix, that he's basically getting started too late in his swing. If so, why isn't Dunn changing that? I'm pretty much prepared to write-off this season and hope that his playing time will be decreased even further. Re-set next spring.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 06:26 PM) He seems to be built like Halladay/Felix where he just pitches and pitches with no issues at all. It's the smoothest 97 I've ever seen. Seems effortless. And he's averaging 15 pitches an inning so it's not like he isn't throwing strikes, but I think they're going to have to bring it down a bit. 115 pitch avg. per game for a whole season seems high by today's standards.
