  1. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 06:59 AM) Two things I would do, starting today. Hire Jose Molina or Yorvit Torrealba to work with Sox catchers on improved pitch framing. I endorse this message
  2. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 11:17 PM) He's played some bad defense and some boneheaded plays. He appears to be an idiot. But he has hit quite well over the past 2 months- .268/.343/.393/.737 (prob closer to about .750 OPS including today's 2 for 4). I'm not too concerned about his ability to play, just to get his head out of his ass. I thought he was also credited as working well with pitchers, no?
  3. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) Plenty of managers would not put the winning run in scoring position Thank you
  4. you just can't keep Sanchez contained. You just can't.
  5. he pops out with a runner on 2nd in the top of the inning and allows the tying run in the bottom.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 05:41 PM) Saw that Eaton run down the line. Originally I thought it was just him not running through the bag, but wow, that was so much more suck. Shuck should start tomorrow. He got paid
  7. He's really bad with the glove. 2B, 3B (okay, barely adequate) and LF have just been bad.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 07:17 PM) ‘‘The White Sox, they should be ashamed of themselves the way they’re playing,’’ a veteran scout who has seen the Sox play about a dozen times in person this season said...They had two good games against the Rangers [victories Saturday and Sunday], played good baseball, and then they come out and play a game like [a 13-2 loss Monday to the Twins]. It’s unacceptable. It’s shameful.’’ ‘‘Errors, bad throws, mental errors,’’ the scout said. ‘‘Defense and guys not hitting in the clutch. For players, it’s not OK. This is the major leagues...Ramirez is going backwards on both sides,’’ the scout said. ‘‘He was one of the best in the game last year. Now he’s one of the worst.’’ ‘‘I’m sure Robin is doing his best,’’ the scout said. ‘‘Maybe one time he should fake it and throw something against the wall. This is unacceptable, and Robin has to know it. Maybe he has handled it. I don’t know what is done behind the scenes.’’ http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/7/71/71...med-31-39-start Daryl Van Schouwen seems to be the only beat writer who takes management to task for the product on the field. Seeking out that scout's opinion was terrific.
  9. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) They haven't "built" this team. They 'are building' this team. Building? That implies progress. They aren't getting better. 31-40 today (last place). 34-37 this time last year (2nd to last). 30-41 in '13 (last place). If we were watching a bunch of young guns who we knew were taking their lumps then I'd be fine. This is futility.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 03:55 PM) And even the Tigers were smart enough to realize with the losses of Scherzer and Verlander that they'd need to tighten up their defense. So they added Gose, Iglesias and worked with Castellanos on improving his defense. They at least had a plan and made some moves to improve a weak spot. Because Dombrowski is pretty smart, his bullpen failings aside
  11. Whose job is to produce a better defensive team? The GM or the coach? I say the weight falls on the GM. Like you said, how can anyone in their right mind build a team around pitching but fail to improve a pathetic defensive team.
  12. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:03 PM) i wish someone would ask, if able JR the question on how he thought management has done with the sox in the past,,,,, 10 yrs? Will he hear boos during the 05 reunion ceremonies?
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 12:46 PM) The Tony LaRussa whose team was just roundly mocked for dumping one of their top prospects for some salary relief? f*** yes. That LaRussa. Do I need to list his accolades or does that salary dump render them pointless?
  14. Haha! Check out Sale's reaction to the question about the team's offense....
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 12:38 PM) Well, we'll never know because of their fear of being disloyal to Ventura...especially if this terrible style of play continues into next year. It will remain one of those unanswered questions if the baseball equivalent of Brad Stevens could have turned the season around. This is why I wish LaRussa was team president
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) You have to give the fans some hope, it is not working under RV. Time to put guys on notice the country club atmosphere under Ventura is over going into 2016. This is true. Whatever the case may be -- that he's a good or bad manager -- it is definitely not working.
  17. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) DL? dominican league? i'm game!
  18. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 12:31 PM) Another mailed in effort under Ventura he has to go! This is not a defense of RV, but seriously, do you honestly think (insert any name here) would make a difference at this point?
  19. raise your hand if you'd like to see Alexei sent to the DL for 15 days with a made up excuse so he can just get his f***ing head right
  20. I know this is a film and not a book discussion, but the film version of The Martian is coming out soon and I picked up the book last night and cannot put it down. HIGHLY recommend it, just a fast, fun, exciting read from page 1.
