98 wins. Sox offense will be a juggernaut, led by Dunn and CQ, who makes a stunning turnaround. John Danks matures into an ace and leads with staff with 21 wins. Sox beat Tigers (wild card) in ALCS and edge out PHI in WS with a bomb off the bat of Beckham in game 7, cementing his legendary status in singles bars throughout the city.

White Sox Off-Season Catch All Thread
The Ginger Kid replied to Chisoxfn's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Do any of you guys follow NotHawk on twitter? Pretty hilarious, especially today's: -
weird, but in Burbank, California I see quite a few Sox fans. There's even a guy a few streets over who has a Sox flag on a pole in his front yard. Another family dresses their kids up in Sox and Bears gear every Halloween (and they know they get bonus treats from our house when they come by).

Teahen's a fatass w/no range. I really hope we only see him occasionally in the outfield. He's a waste of space, IMO.

i just want to thank you guys who put in the time and effort with this research - it's great!

2011 HOF is Roberto Alomar and Bert Blyleven.
The Ginger Kid replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Diamond Club
I'm happy for Blylevin, but Morris was every bit his superior, IMO -
I got lucky and got great seats for Sox vs. Cubs and Sox vs. Rangers in March. Can.Not.Wait.

As parting shots go, this one seems fairly tame. I hope Ozzie won't take the bait and just shrugs this one off, but it's unlikely.

his calf was chronically injured and his right arm was numb! have at it, red sox -- enjoy

My favorite quote from that article? “I just got off a Nike trip with [Twins catcher] Joe Mauer and he spent a lot of time telling me how uncomfortable he felt facing that kid [sale], and this is coming from one of the best hitters in baseball.’’ At least with Peavy you know you're getting a stand up guy who will do everything in his power to be on the mound, where he will in turn give you everything he's got. A lot like one Jose Contreras, who I still can't believe came back from that Achilles injury so fast.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 02:50 PM) He's in Oakland. No one sees him pitch. true, but don't you think you hear more about Braden and Cahill?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 02:32 PM) 15-9 record and 3.23 ERA last year in 200 innings don't count as a breakout season? Then what does? And yet he doesn't get the pub that he deserved. I think he'll be a 20 game winner and enter the discussion as one of the best LH pitchers in the game, one who possesses THE best curve.

I think Gio has a break out season for the A's.

I'll be curious to see if Bobby passes the physical

His time with the Sox worked out great for both parties. Good luck big boy!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 10:13 AM) Put a winning team on the field and the revenue will come. unless you're the twins. I really don't understand how they weren't buyers at the winter meetings. They should've been the ones bidding on Dunn to replace Thome, they should've been making a push for another starter and to bolster their pen. Instead they've taken all the progress made with their new stadium and watched their team get weaker. I realize that the off season is far from over and that they could easily trade blue chips like Valencia for some solid pitching, and it wouldn't surprise me to see them end up with Greinke (they've expressed interest), but so far they really leave me shaking my head. I would think they would be looking to add elements to push them over the top.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 16, 2010 -> 09:14 AM) Listened to the Crain interview: - Confirmed 3/$13 mil. - 3rd guaranteed year sealed the deal - Kenny has told him that Thornton and Sale are in the closer picture, but he'll be given opportunities in the 9th. - His velocity has gone up the last four years, and he feels like he's getting better - Working on adding a split-fingered fastball that's what surprised me last season, when he was routinely hitting 97 on the gun.

QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 01:31 PM) Anyone have an idea on how much Grant Balfour would command money wise, he could be the RH setup man we are lacking. I might have a harder time learning to like that guy than i did AJ

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) You know...even if a deal like that is a fair deal for everyone involved...it's just so complicated that I couldn't possibly fathom it happening. There's so many veto points, management, ownership on each team, the players themselves, contracts, etc. if it were the NBA, then yes. but i agree.

QUOTE (joeynach @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) Now watch Danny "no one has heard of me" Valencia have a nice sophomore slump year. as long as they keep bringing up gems like this guy i will never doubt their plans

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 08:01 AM) This, albeit I'd love to know what's his beef with the Tribune that he likes to tweet a lot about. Sometimes the guy can be a douche tho. it reads like more than a beef - the guy seems pathologically obsessed with Phil Rogers. I'm constantly surprised that the CST allows him to twitter about him like he does, the petty name-calling, the vindictive hatred. I'd also love to know where it comes from. Maybe, just maybe, Joe wanted a job on the tribune and Phil said no?

AJ on MLB right now, sporting the stache

Thought KW said May yesterday, at least that's the target. But he also added that if you asked Jake he would say he's ready to go now.

QUOTE (spiderman @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Are the White Sox talking with Derek Lee's agent? Has there been any talk or is just logical speculation on whom Williams may target? As to these comments by Williams about looking at other options, it's public posturing, but it's also probably true. Williams has to explore other options at the same time, but I have to believe that a deal will be struck very soon between the Sox and Konerko - he'll get 3 years at around $13 million per season. What is Lee's expected value on the market? Is he a 1 year deal at $10 million? supposedly KW is talking to other agents tonight and has another meeting scheduled with Kong's agent.
