  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 03:28 PM) WTF? Lee has 1241 plate appearances in 2009 and 2010, Konerko has 1252. In what world is 1252 = twice 1241? IN MY WORLD! where i misread his stats
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) Lee is younger than Konerko and has had nearly 200 more plate appearances than PK14 over the last 4 years, with the difference being that PK14 missed more due to injury. in the last two years PK has more than twice the number of plate appearances. Who cares about early in their careers? DLee is injury prone, PK is not
  3. QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 03:21 PM) first legit source: SI_JonHeyman: konerko's agent is pressing beyond where #chisox had planned. but theres still pretty decent optimism for deal. i still say he'll go Dye with this deal and just go home to Scottsdale if he doesn't like the deal.
  4. don't blame him for wanting at least as much as Dunn, he's more productive and just plain better.
  5. per espn: The White Sox were believed to be offering three years and between $36 million and $39 million. But Adam Dunn's new deal was worth $14 million a year, and indications are that Konerko's camp is holding strong for at least the same, if not slightly more.
  6. crasnick: The Orioles fully expect Paul Konerko to re-sign with White Sox. Baltimore will be in on Derrek Lee, "if the medicals check out''
  7. more... "....thing that impressed me the most about Dunn was how excited he was to be on the white sox...."
  8. tidbits.... "I didn't say we're done [with Konerko] but it's a fine line....we don't want to miss out on what's next on the board....I've gotta get serious [with plan B]...."
  9. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) Konerko still has to find a team willing to give him $15M/year. Easier said than done. will he do a Jermaine Dye? Remember, he said at the end of the season he had great respect for the way JD conducted himself and was uncompromising.
  10. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) If Paulie wants to screw around too much longer, KW should just go with Plan B. Maybe they can sign D. Lee for 2 years at half of what Paulie wants and use the rest of the money on the bullpen. I want Paulie back, but I'm wondering if he really wants to be here, considering his comments at the end of the season and his hesitance to re-sign now. I'd really be pissed if the Sox wait too long and he decides to sign elsewhere causing the Sox to miss out on their Plan B guy. s*** or get off the pot, Paulie! He's been very clear that he wants to hear offers, hoping to find a place closer to home. I don't see how that's him being unfair in any way.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) Even after the Benoit deal, they're still only at about $75 million committed I think, coming down from $130-ish. They have the room if they really want to. And Illitch is very motivated to win it now. But this money might be too rich.
  12. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 08:57 AM) This is just an assinine contract. They better hope that they can win early in there years because this contract is horrid. Even worse, this sets the market for Carl Crawford at a lot of years and around 20M per year. That is unbelievable because Crawford isn't worth near that, imo. on the plus side, i hope it just priced DET out of the bidding for Crawford.
  13. it's just a hunch, but I think he's going to have a huge season (by his standards). Walker said he was very concerned going into ST last year that AJ would press too much since he was facing free agency. And he did. At the end he seemed to bounce back a bit but now the pressure's off and he can just go out and produce.
  14. Sox Spring Training tix went on sale this morning, 11 CT. Got lucky this years and beat cub fans to the seats behind home plate for Sox/cubs in Glendale on 3/12.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 3, 2010 -> 08:35 AM) I believe Kenny Powers is available. La Flama Blanca. Bring it.
  16. hmm...yet to hear anything from Ozzie. It's a definite return to a power lineup with Dunn in the mix.
  17. "Close to signing with Toronto." Wasn't that midget supposed to move on to another beat this season?
  18. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) And THAT is why you don't offer him arbitration, he would have gotten about $7M through arb and we just locked him up for a million more on a 2 year deal. This has been a very, very good day. indubitably
  19. QUOTE (sircaffey @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 05:01 PM) I think people are either overrated Pauly's defense or exaggerating Dunn's defense at 1B. Pauly ranked dead last in +/- last year (yes, behind Dunn). Are we talking range or skills at 1st? You realize how many errors lexi did not get thanks to PK?
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 02:27 PM) The internet must be working in his moms basement again.
