i'd love to see both PK and Dunn in there, taking turns at DH/1B, power left and right.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Oct 29, 2010 -> 08:12 AM) I'm shocked that an arena rock corporate whore would jump onto any bandwagon possible.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) I'm just glad that the Rangers are getting more attention then the Dallas Cow-whores for once in the local media. Actually - I found out today I got a pretty good chance to go to the World Series if they make it - that would be pretty cool. And that would make the tri-fecta of major sports finals for me if I got to go, Stanley Cup finals (check), NBA finals (check), and WS? It's a good thought. isn't the super bowl in dallas this year?
-
it's a good point. we always praise the twins for the patience and ability to take advantage of the Sox miscues/missed opportunities. that's enough to win a division, not a WS.

ejected from a playoff game? bad form, gardy.

every major league ballpark sings "take me out to the ballgame" in the 7th inning stretch, and every team yells their name instead of "home team." What few realize is that the tradition began with the White Sox and Nancy.

looking forward to a yankee/phillies world series, from the POV that I want to see the 2 best teams wage battle if my team can't be in it. gardenhire is a yankee b****.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) Some of my favorite childhood memories were made to your soundtrack. I hope retirement treats you well, because I will miss you! I remember my dad taking me past her little booth when I was a kid -- man I feel old. Thanks, Nancy

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 30, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) I've said it since Spring Training, but he's not coming back next year. I must have been the only person who saw the television clip from Arizona where he said it's time to move on after this season. He'll likely go to either Boston or the Dodgers/Angels. Where would he play on those teams? I think he's done, too. He's a classy guy but the spats between ozzie and kw have to wear on a guy like that. -

QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ Sep 28, 2010 -> 01:58 PM) +1. Cowley had it right in his column last week: KW needs to lighten up and Ozzie needs to tell Oney to STFU. His claim that he can't tell his adult son what to do is B.S. Name any job where your family publicly attacks your boss repeatedly and see how long that lasts. It adds nothing. Quite frankly I'm sick of them being in the press endlessly for non-baseball related things. That also adds nothing. I so agree with this. Why the hell can't he tell his son to get a life and stay the f out of mine? -

I'm going to the game. I'll be sitting behind the dugout seeing if I can get Ozzie to do a Ron Artest impersonation. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 24, 2010 -> 10:31 AM) See, it doesn't work like that. The Sox may only be 2 games better, but the Twins would also be (atleast) 2 games worse. In the most conservative of scenarios, that leaves the Sox at 7 games back. Still dead to rights, but it's not 11 games. Looking at a better case scenario, Thome may have been worth 3 wins to the White Sox, may be worth 4 wins to the Twins, and Mark Kotsay, who could be worth -2 losses, leaves the Sox 2 games back right now. And, perhaps had they had Thome instead of Kotsay, they may have been up 5-8 games on the Twins at some point, and it may have either forced the Twins hand into trying something out of line for what they do (getting too aggressive and dealing Slowey or Baker along with Hicks and another minor leaguer for Cliff Lee) or perhaps feeling that it wouldn't be worth it to try and get back into the race and maybe sell off a piece or two. Beyond that, the Sox may have felt that their division lead was big enough that they didn't need to trade for Edwin Jackson, and because they already had a good DH, they wouldn't have had to acquire Manny Ramirez, and those moves right there save the Sox about $5 mill this year and about $8 million next year. I could go on and on about the ramifications from not signing Thome, and even still it's all hypotheticals and could-of's, but not signing Thome was an absolutely monstrosity of a failure, and anybody who tries to justify it because the "Sox would have lost the division anyways" is looking at this in a completely short-sighted manner and trying to make it seem like it wasn't a big deal when quite clearly it was a huge deal. Eh, no. It may have been a failure but in no way to I see it as a game changer making us division champs. If they can win at this clip w/o Morneau, they can do it w/o the aging Thome. And another important distinction: Thome would've hit 3rd for the Sox and been in the lineup every day he was available. The Twins put him down in the order and got him plenty of days off throughout the season, knowing that he would break down otherwise. What I'm saying is that the Sox would most likely have been w/o his services for long stretches this season and he would've been more worn down and likely less productive overall. Why? Because they are smarter.
-
yes, if we had thome the sox wouldn't be 11 games out. Maybe 9.

IT AIN'T OVER TIL IT'S...oh yeah

I hope they're both done.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 21, 2010 -> 10:21 AM) Frankly...I'm not sure that's a terrible idea. Maybe he doesn't need to be baby-sitting them when they go out...but taking steps to make sure that they take a cab, like say...making sure they have the numbers of a cab company, making sure to remind them, or possibly even arranging transportation for a group beforehand...might not be terrible plans. I'm sure that's how Torre does it.

what a stinking fuking load of shhit this team is. keep PK, Lexi and Morel. Absolutely screw the rest.

QUOTE (mcgrad70 @ Sep 20, 2010 -> 09:52 PM) Third place here we come. This team may not win another game until spring training. How do you Ozziepologists like your boy now? You're right, I was wrong. Ozzie has looked lost at the plate and he's been tossing up meatballs from the mound. He blows. DFA him now.
-
i have no idea what the bullpen's ERA is this month, but I'm guessing it's not exactly championship caliber.

didn't his hip break down around this point last season?
