  1. QUOTE (heirdog @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 11:09 AM) And... CQ looks like TCQ from 2008 (after Walker's visit in Oct) Teahen a 3B fixture Peavy is hungry Buehrle is strengthening his arm Destiny of coming to Sox finally realized for Pierre Looks like they are going down the list of players: I'm buying all of the hype...cause I'm an optimist unless, I hear a story like: "Lillibridge putting it all together for 2010" it's one of the many things that makes it the greatest sport on the planet, imo.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 04:01 PM) I would take him in a heartbeat as our DH over the mediocrity we have right now. i thought that's why they signed andruw jones, no? to dh?
  3. any guesses on who might be a surprise to break camp with the big league team? my long shot = Jordan Danks
  4. good posts - for a minute there i thought this was going to evolve into a brian anderson thread. that never happens!
  5. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jan 15, 2010 -> 07:03 AM) Just think Fukodome was close to being a Sox. tru dat
  6. seems to me DD is doing a good job of bolstering his pitching. The central is going to be very competitive again...unless you wear powder blue unis.
  7. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jan 9, 2010 -> 08:07 AM) Love the thread, just bought my tickets and booked the trip from March 28-31. Anyone have any advice on how practice times work and when for the minor league fields/teams at the complex? They let you walk around very early - i showed up about 9 or 10 in the morning and just wandered around the spectacular practice fields watching the team workout. You're right there leaning against the backstop, you'll hear all the chatter and probably wind up chatting with a few of them yourself. Greg Walker has always been very cool to the fans. Then just hang around until the game starts around 1pm. I also enjoyed walking over to the Dodger half and watching some of those guys. In a nutshell, it is baseball bliss.
  8. fat andruw can probably hit as well left handed as he does right. let him have a try.
  9. losing pods is going to come back to haunt us like Lou Brock did to the Cubs. It's Pedro/DeShields all over again.
  10. QUOTE (Sec101Row1 @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 09:07 PM) The Hotel depends on your price range. The White Sox team employes stay at Comfort Suites 1.5 mi. from CBR. Last year I stayed at Hampton Inn and Suites. Real nice hotel 3.2 mi to CBR. Across the street is westgate valley where all the action is and the coyotes hockey rink. On the other side was NCAA college BB final 4 (or final 8). The hotel was mostly Dodgers minor league players and coaches. The rates went way up this year so I'm staying at the Renaissance. I stayed in exactly the same place, highly recommend it. And that Mexican restaurant on the corner when you get off the freeway - fantastic!
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 09:38 AM) it was truly shocking how bad Betemit was on defense. i almost felt bad for him, it was that bad. like watching my daughter play SS. For the Yankees.
  12. I wonder if spitting on the ump didn't keep him off the first ballot
  13. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 6, 2010 -> 11:08 AM) How the hell is Alomar not a 1st ballot hall of famer. He is the greatest 2nd baseman of all time. it's pretty disgusting. Good to see Dawson in there, though.
  14. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 08:24 AM) How could you be in the MLB and NOT have a smokin hot chick? Ah yes, you raise a good point. But note those guys who get hitched when they're still coming up through the ranks, either right out of college or high school. If only they had waited....
  15. He says he hopes Peavy and Rios justify the investment. Guess what? So do we.
  16. it's time. we've had the black for a long time and the Sox have a great tradition of no tradition when it comes to unis, so i say bring it.
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) He always has been except when he was whining about playing time while working out in San Diego a few years ago.
  18. good to see that he's humble about the opportunities he wasted. Hope he does well.
  19. i think DET is going to surprise some people with their starting rotation
  20. he's probably learned a lot since his last NY encounter. Plus it's a chance to do something about his reputation for lack of cajones.
  21. I think whoever wrote that just had a brain fart and forgot that Peavy was a starting pitcher for the White Sox. But the funniest thing was captain cheeseburger's claim that the yankees will just have to sneak up on people, and that somehow their pitching doesn't get enough credit.
  22. Mario, having Rios batting 3rd may be the most optimistic thing i've read all year. If he earns that spot....yowza.
  23. would the new GM of the padres trade away the team's best player to his old boss as his first big deal? If so, he'd better come out smelling like a rose.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 09:14 AM) The kind of fans that go to games to see Pods need rides from their parents anyway.
  25. Apparently they're making a move for AGon with Buchholtz, Lars, Delcarmen and some other minor leaguer...or so says a friend who lives in Boston and works for ESPN.
