Offensively speaking, I'm very happy with this signing. Watched a lot of Pierre in LA and the guy is scrappy at the plate and can make things happen on the bases. He annoys the hell out of pitchers and has great instincts. And he never made waves when he was sent to the bench for Manny. Plus, he's one of the best bunters I've seen. Nice to see a guy who can do the little things come to the club. So long Scott, hello JP.

Jeremy Reed, Lance Broadway and Brian Anderson Non-Tendered
The Ginger Kid replied to bighurt4life's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 10:40 AM) I did Reed actually played okay in Seattle for a spell. Anderson and Broadway have never been worth a damn. -
QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 10:54 AM) Yeah, I'm less than excited about this move as I don't see anything that will solidify the pen until Putz is able to take the mound and get hitters out. Bone spurs are preferable to ligament damage. I know he hasn't even started throwing off a mound yet, but there's a lot of time between now and April. I look for a good rebound from this guy. Can't wait to see him lighting up the gun at 98 again.

what a classless remark from a classless guy leaving a worthless program. Here's to more years of getting your ass kicked by Navy, notre dame. Enjoy! -
Sox mentioned to have interest in Padilla
The Ginger Kid replied to bigruss's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 09:13 PM) Did you see the original source? It's pretty f***ing funny. 1.) The information is coming from a close friend of Vicente Padilla's as if that weren't reliable enough . . . 2.) It's being reported in a Nicaraguan newspaper And as for the story itself; Padilla's friend says the Sox and EIGHT other teams have "shown interest." Meaning Padilla's agent calls up the club, asks if they're interested in his client, they say 'not right now but we don't want to rule anything out, perhaps we'll speak again closer to Spring Training' and BAM! they just showed interest. In other words it means absolutely nothing. Disagree. I get a lot of my news from Nicaraguan news feeds and I find them to be extremely reliable. In fact, if it weren't for them my family may have been attack by a chubacabra during last week's full moon. Yet here we are, safe and sound. Dismiss at your own risk. -
Here's a quick look at the show... quick look Here's the entire episode: American Chopper segment EDIT: my apologies if this has already been posted - i'm sort of in sox hibernation these days.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) I think we should leave him and his contract with the Yankees but go after his supplier. That guy's more important and has got to come cheaper. hmm...not a bad thought. Or, we could just go after Jeter and move Lexi back to 2b.
-
i think we should trade with the yankees for that third baseman of theirs - saw him in the series and i like the cut of his jib.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 03:52 PM) The philosophy would be -- lets make the pitching championship level and just pray for the offense. As we stand, we're very solid pitching and still prayer-needing offense. that's a philosophy i currently agree with. I don't believe you can have overkill in a starting rotation and you don't need someone in the middle of the order to hit .350/40/100 to be competitive when you can run Peavy/Halladay out there for close to 40% of your starts.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 18, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) Really? You think we need to invest more in starting pitching? my feeling is you can never have enough, and adding Halladay would push this team over the top and relieve pressure off both the offense and bullpen. Peavy's health is a concern, too.

Heyman on MLB right now - disses Konerko and these rumors. I'd rather see the Sox trade for Doc.
-
let's see... you're a beat writer for the Sox and your readership would be Sox fans, so you make statements ridiculing an information source supported by those fans. Genius.
-
I also seem to remember that AGon was very high on the Red Sox list this off season. Would be nice to screw those guys.
-
why would the angels want konerko? dh?

QUOTE (daggins @ Nov 15, 2009 -> 06:59 PM) I didn't think Gordo would win but to see him cast so low is unfortunate. I agree. I still think Porcello deserves it.

Report: Carl Crawford wants out of Tampa
The Ginger Kid replied to ozzfest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2009 -> 10:18 AM) Ill trade them anyone in our minor league system. Danks etc can go for Crawford. oh yeah -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 8, 2009 -> 10:05 AM) Danks had some nice oppo swings, and even the commentators remarked how he had nice at bats. He still could put on some muscle. Ted Williams. Joe DiMaggio. Skinny strong. Jordan Danks?

I know it's early in his career, but I get the feeling that Beckham could emerge as a vocal leader.
