  1. economic downturn = buyers market. I say go for it, Jerry. Spend it and they will come.
  2. QUOTE (longshot7 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 02:49 PM) Dodgers in 7. i hope so - i've got tix for that one
  3. I predict Thome will figure heavily in a Dodgers victory over the Yankees in at least one game of the World Series.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) Gotta admit, I don't like the Angels and was slightly pulling against them, but if they were going to win, it's nice to see them take down Papelboner in the process. Where's that little jig now? I'm starting to think it might be an I-5 showdown...
  5. It was Phil Cuzzi, btw. Somewhere in Venezuela Ozzie Guillen is drinking a Polar and laughing his ass off. For even worse calls you should check out the work of CB Bucknor over the last two games in Anaheim.
  6. QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 9, 2009 -> 06:01 PM) As much as I hate Puto,I mean Punto,what a great at bat. You don't need to overswing with 2 strikes,short and sweet,just put the damn ball in play. Twins at least not embarrassing themselves tonight. that's the thing, he gets hits and walks when it counts.
  7. If I didn't hate the twins, I'd love a guy like nick punto
  8. kubel, cabrera and span sucking it. And I wouldn't start calling a-rod clutch just yet.
  9. quick Hawk, tell me how good gomez is again.
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) Chip Carey just said, "It's hard to believe Phil Hughes is still just 23." I know Hughes has been awesome out of the pen, but so? Has he done something so great in his career that would lead you to believe he is older? Does he have a bunch of accomplishment under his belt? I don't get it. it's chip carey.
  11. by the way, it's 40 degrees and drizzling in minneapolis right now. Lets see how they play in that s*** come october 2010.
  12. QUOTE (kev211 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 05:38 PM) Well if this goes for a long time I will get nothing done tonight. is there a downside?
  13. wasn't sure who I would root for, but instinct has taken over and I'm pulling for the tigers.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) Depends on how you define similar. Can Peavy pump it up to 99? I don't recall him doing that. But that doesn't mean he can't be just as nasty. in the 9th inning. On pitch #120.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) That's nice. I like Peavy/Buehrle/Danks/Floyd a lot more. oh i like them too - but not one of them is the pitcher that Verlander is.
  16. I think Porcello deserves it - the guy's a stud. Shudder to think of him and Verlander anchoring that crew for the next several years.
  17. meh...i thought we were a shoo in for 2006 and look what happened. We'll have to hope that Beckham avoids the proverbial sophomore slump and that Kenny finds a way to bolster the bullpen with talent...real talent.
  18. Disappointing, no doubt. Yet we still witnessed some positives this season. The continued growth of gavin and danks; a perfect game by burls; clayton richard emerging into a stud, enough to be traded for peavy; the trade for peavy; CQ here at the end seemed to find his stroke; and this new guy beckman, or beckham...seems like he might be okay. See you guys at the winter meetings! Thanks for sharing another season
