  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) I've never seen this reported anywhere before. Very interesting. Could have completely changed baseball history if this had happened. http://baseballpastandpresent.com/2015/04/...ruth-white-sox/ You're right, it could have. But the White Sox were the most popular team in 1919, having won the WS in 1917 and featuring a ton of stars on the team. I read a book that suggested had they not thrown the series (and gotten caught) that their popularity as the number one team in Chicago and one of the most popular in the league could have endured through several decades. Who knows. But at the time of the scandal they were the #1 team in the city, hands down.
  2. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) Royals fans are becoming as angsty as their douchebag team. I've been enjoying watching and listening to their broadcast crew because you would think they had just won the last 3 world series. Not an inning goes by when they don't reference a moment from last season's remarkable run in the postseason. Makes for some laughably bad TV, especially when they try to defend the actions of Herrera.
  3. too bad Rodon isn't starting a game. Their starting lineup had no chance against him in that ST start.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) Positives: Shark didn't have his best stuff and he still shut down Cleveland through 6IP. His strand rate should be way high, but he's making the big pitches in the short term. 6 guys with two hits today. That has to be a first for the season. Eaton. When he gets going the offense is going to look very different. 5-12, 2 BB this series. 2/3 against Cleveland when they had the pitching matchup favor them every time out. Dan Jennings has been nails. His ERA would be zero if Alexei/Micah didn't screw up that weird play where Micah in game one. Momentum is tomorrow's starting pitcher: Chris Sale. I wonder if that foot injury is a blessing in disguise. Sale seems very strong.
  5. Wonder if the Royals are going to come in chippy and looking for payback after that opening series....
  6. Today is the first day I looked at the standings.
  7. nice win in s***ty weather against a nasty pitcher. Take it and run.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 01:30 PM) Oh trust me, I don't want him to be a full time starter. He's a great platoon/utility player. I also think that having PK out of the dugout might be a plus for him. That's funny because I wondered the same thing. Beckham was always messing with his mechanics, just like PK.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 01:26 PM) It's frustrating that more people on here aren't excited about his contributions so far. Don't be seduced. Again. Just let him contribute when and where he can.
  10. QUOTE (kapzk @ Apr 22, 2015 -> 01:12 PM) Again horrible situational hitting True, but he's not the reigning Cy Young winner for nothing
  11. would be nice to take a page from the royals and start going the other way
  12. I don't think you were wrong about this team. I just think it's taking them a bit of time to get their s*** together. But once they do I think we can all expect good things. This does not mean the Royals and Tigers are not going to be very tough to beat, but they both have flaws just like the Sox. Each has had their hot streak. Soon we'll have ours.
  13. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 20, 2015 -> 09:45 PM) Reading this thread from beginning to end is great.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 01:26 PM) FWIW, I don't think it's shocking at all, it's basically what I expected. I would not have predicted a 9-1 start by the tigers but I guess you guys saw that coming.
  15. keeping things in perspective, Alexei made a terrible effort to clearly tag him on a very easy out, and the umpire made a very bad call at a crucial time in the game. Of the latter two mistakes, I would ranks Robin's mistake in not asking for a replay at 3rd position. not sure where I rank the decision not to put a man on 1st with a runner on 3rd and one out in the bottom of the 9th.
  16. So now they're saying RV went back into the dugout but came out again but it was too late since Romine had already come in to PR...?
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 01:18 PM) Alexei has been pretty adament before when calls have been reviewed and not reversed. I'd go with the guys watching the replay. Well, here's guessing he won't make that mistake again.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) You do have something to lose if the game isn't over yet. What if they denied the challenge and made a bad call later? But if the guys you pay to watch the replay say he missed the tag, it's kind of hard to blame someone for not challenging. Yet your SS is jumping up and down screaming NO NO NO! Never saw him talk to Alexei.
  19. Avila would have homered or some other error would have befallen them. Just hate to see a great start like that wasted.
  20. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 12:56 PM) It looks like he got him on the toe there, but it really is inconclusive. I wonder why they wouldn't challenge. It is done differently this year, but generally it isn't Robin's decision to challenge. Did Alexei put up much of an argument? ?
  21. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 12:51 PM) i just uploaded the tag to Youtube. HE WAS OUT f***!!!!!!!!!!
