  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 05:51 PM) Mix it up, put Cabrera or Quentin up there. Walks are good and all, but we acquired Swisher to knock in some runs. i have to agree - he's starting to suck at the top. I'd like to see what he does with runners on (yeah, like that happens a lot!)
  2. I have no rational reason, but I hate Justin Morneau.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 29, 2008 -> 05:12 PM) Ugh, Dye wasn't even close to those pitches. Seems like it's been ages since we scored in the first inning. and out of the strike zone on that last one. if our guys had half the eye for the strike zone that teams like the red sox and yankees...
  4. Juan Uribe for keeping this one out of the L column.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 04:32 PM) He's a great slugger, don't get me wrong. it's fair to say he's not the player he once was, but please, take a moment to look at how dominant he was and how clutch he was in his career.
  6. QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 04:30 PM) Yeah, was interesting. i've been watching that series, amazing sports stories - it's really good. I see there's one coming up about a 17 year-old girl who struck out Ruth and Gehrig!
  7. Did anyone see the Blackie Schwamb story they showed during the delay?
  8. everyone should just bunt - old school dead ball stuff.
  9. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 10:36 AM) Im starting to think that it is finally sinking through to Ozzie that Uribe, for all of his defensive qualities, just isnt the player he could be. When Juan was going tazmanian devil on Brian Burres the other day, and the crowd started getting on him for it, you could see Ozzie notice, He was looking back into the crowd. Add to the fact that Ozzie was fielding all those questions from the reporters regarding Uribe being completely inept, maybe Ozzie changed his mind and is trying to work in Ramirez for more PT until Richar gets back. Any way about it, I dont think Juan lasts the year as a starter, much less through may. given his career, I'm not surprised that Ozzie is a more defensive-minded manager than offensive, which is why I think he's inclined to stay with Uribe at 2nd longer than we would like. But at some point even he has to wonder about a guy who seems to be getting worse at the plate, regardless of his defense (and he has been strong at second).
  10. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 06:55 PM) You should almost consider it a positive. There is no way this will continue throughout the entire year. The hits will come as long as they continue their patience at the plate. i just had a flashback to '07, when I kept telling myself that same thing over and over.
  11. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) Didn't see this posted yet, but Paulie delivered a great quote: “(Monday) is the type of game that good teams that want to go to the playoffs win.” so, what are the chances of the Sox getting a day off today?
  12. Paul Konerko: "[Monday] is the type of game that good teams that want to go to the playoffs win."
  13. you ever wonder if players coming to a team full of thumpers like the sox don't get into the habit of swinging bigger? Looks like ocab and on occasion, swisher, do that. I even wonder if Anderson didn't catch that bug when he came up.
  14. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 01:20 PM) That was quick for Wasserman to get hated in, haha. no hate, i want to see him do well. promise.
  15. QUOTE (KevinM @ Apr 27, 2008 -> 01:15 PM) liar he was scared
