  1. I'm sure glad Webb is getting a chance in high leverage situations
  2. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 1, 2014 -> 08:50 AM) anyone catch this nugget on Chris Sale's next start? That should be fun to watch!
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 31, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) You'd think they'd shoot video in higher than 60 fps so that not everything looks blurry like it did on that replay. I agree -- MLB should pay for some phantom cameras and postion them throughout the park.
  4. Dombrowski just never learns. His late inning pitchers are going to be their undoing in close post season games.
  5. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 10:20 AM) On a related note, I've been critical of how Robin has treated Webb (pretty much as the 4th or 5th guy out of the pen) but now it's time to take off the kid gloves and let him see some high leverage innings. They wanted to bring him along slow well OK great, now put him under a bit more pressure and see how he responds. Stuff wise, he has the potential to be a good setup or decent closer imo, certainly as good as Reed was for the Sox. QUOTE (VAfan @ Jul 30, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) Exactly!! Yeah, he was awesome in the 7th of that tie game against Houston. 4 ER in 1.0 IP. The guy who had an 8.53 ERA through 6 IP in the month of June. He should get more chances to suck rather than bring him along slowly. Got it.
  6. I was all wrong about Gillaspie. What a great season he's having (although I'm greedy and wish he flashed a bit more power)
  7. Robin wasn't handed a team ready to win a WS or even compete for a division title, but he did accomplish the latter in his first year. I always figured that he would be given a chance to learn, to take his lumps, and from everything I've read he's a very bright guy and a student of the game. All of his former managers said so and some of them were pretty good (like Joe Torre). Plus I was always struck by this quote by KW in 2011... I do not believe the quality of the bullpen = the quality of the manager. Is RV perfect? Far from it. But is he the "worst ever?" That's simply one of the more assinine statements around.
  8. I'll take one can of regular ass whoopin' and another can of extra-strength ass whoopin', thank you.
  9. Just out of curiosity, would Bobby Cox, Joe Torre or Tony LaRussa have this team at a much better record right now? That makes me laugh even typing it.
  10. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 27, 2014 -> 01:19 PM) That's exactly why Robin should have come out of the dugout - to find out what the hell was going on. Instead he lets two umpires approach his pitcher without being there to have his back. it's definitely robin's fault
  11. another f***ing botched play by a catcher
