  1. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 09:08 PM) Boston's 1 man pitching rotation is impressive, but he doesn't pitch again this series. At least he got it back to Boston and kept things interesting though. I think it's more than that - I think the momentum has shifted and Schilling will win tonight. And I wouldn't have a lot of faith in Westbrook on the road in game 7. Even with a 3-2 lead, I think cleveland's in trouble. And I stand by my prediction that Peralta will make a significant error in these playoffs.
  2. it's always fun to watch high price teams take a tumble
  3. I bet the sox sign him for 4/40. Just a hunch.
  4. All this would be moot if Brian Anderson played to his supposed potential.
  5. I think the Angels might finally cough up some of their prospects. This post-season has them reeling from the lack of a power bat behind Vlad, more so than years past. They've made runs at Konerko, Manny and others but have come up short. I think Moreno has seen enough and wants Stoneman to be even more aggressive...at least, that's what I'm hearing from the local media. I think Bonds and A-rod will be their primary targets.
  6. he's as good as gone - even if they win tonight, captain cheeseburger is going to shut them down in bugtown.
  7. I think the second guessing of Pinella is hysterical. When they win tonight they'll realize how wrong they were to question the call. I thought it was the right move.
  8. dbacks over cubs rockies over phils rockies over dbacks yanks over tribe halos over carmines halos over yanks rockies over halos in a hotly contested but poorly rated world series. Josh Fogg is your MVP! d'oh
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 08:19 AM) Here are my grades for members of the Sox organization: Mark Buehrle: B Javier Vazquez: A Jose Contreras: F Jon Garland: C Jon Danks: D Gavin Floyd: C Bobby Jenks: A Mike MacDougal: F David Aardsma: D Boone Logan: C Ehren Wasserman: A Mike Myers: F Matt Thornton: D AJP: C Paul Konerko: C Jim Thome: B Iguchi: D Richar: C Juan Uribe: D Josh Fields: B Scott Pods: F Erstad: D Jermaine Dye: C Jerry Owens: C Toby Hall: F Andy Gonzalez: AA Ozzie Guillen: D Kenny Williams: D The Fans: A Please share your opinions and grades Teach, I think you were a little harsh on Danks, especially if Aardsma gets a D as well. Josh deserves at least a + after that B. And how did KW manage to slide through with a D?
  10. Rockies are going to win it all.
  11. "I forgot" saved my ass countless times in grade school.
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 12:16 PM) I have absolutely no idea what to think about the AL Central going into next year. With the right moves and a s***load of luck, I could see KC even winning the division; it's just so f'ing wide open right now that I don't know who to even think of as the favorite. I absolutely agree with this, especially if they can get off to a good start. I like to think the Sox can't play any worse than they did this year, but if the moves don't come this winter, it won't be much of an improvement.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 11:39 AM) Hafner will be much better next season. ...because....? is it possible that team's have found a way to pitch to him? I do agree that when he's hot he'll hit anything around the plate and hit it hard and far. But I've seen him chasing a lot of low and away this season. Wonder if he's got some kind of injury.
  14. QUOTE(WCSox @ Sep 20, 2007 -> 10:50 AM) People were saying the same thing about the Tigers and Twins last September. And as recently as a couple of months ago, people here were saying that the Tigers were going to be a "juggernaut" for the next 3-4 years and they're on the brink of Wild Card elimination right now. Divisional strength can change quickly. If the Sox make three or four key off-season moves and their veteran sluggers don't go through a prolonged slump next year, they'll most definitely have a shot. Despite its numerous problems, the core of this team is still very talented. I agree. It's obvious that our starters still have something left in the tank. I think if we bolstered the pen the Sox could be contenders immediately. No matter how bad the offense was, there's no way they could've ever overcome the disastrous bullpen we had through most of the season.
  15. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 19, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) At least we took advantage of "the window" Yes indeed. If I were a kitties fan I'd still be cringing at the thought of losing to the cardinals in FIVE. One lousy win against one of the weakest teams the NL had to offer. Bonderman is showing arm strain and that's not good for someone so young. At the start of the season they said he was one pitch away from being an ace, and I agreed. But now, his future is kind of cloudy. If Zumaya and Rodney round back into form then they should be no worse than middle of the pack. I also think the twins are in for a swoon, the Royals will be .500 or better. The Sox are old but I'm confident KW will try to improve on that over the winter.
  16. looks like he has discovered his form - 4-0 with a 2.85 ERA over his last five starts. I'll bet some GM's (hello Ned) are kicking themselves right about now.
  17. What a tank job. Looks like they're doing their best to follow the trajectory of the 06 Sox - win 90 games and finish out of the running. I just hope their '08 is like our '07.
  18. boston is going to choke and i am going to laugh my ass off
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 07:03 PM) I hope Floyd's improvement lately hasn't been a mirage that we trust and get burned on in 2008. But it's nice to see him doing well, either way. I'm sure he'd welcome finally entering an off season on an up note.
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 18, 2007 -> 06:33 PM) I love it when we get the mantra that Greg Walker cannot be blamed for our hitters by Hawk and DJ earlier in the season. The minute a hitter has some success, they tout how much hard work Mike Gellinger and Greg put in with the hitters. So only success is their fault huh. Agreed. And K-rod should start flipping off satan when he blows a save.
  21. I like his speed - I was surprised by how well he runs. Wouldn't mind seeing him start for the Bears once the season's over.
  22. Josh Fields, 21 dingers. What a great rookie season.
  23. Walking Paulie to get to JD? priceless
