how the hell do you go from winning a WS to this s*** in such a short time? At least Florida dumped all their players.

White Sox vs. Orioles, 7/02/07 (L)

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) Tonight's Lineup Gonzo, LF; Iguchi, 2B; Thome, DH; PK, 1B; AJ, C; Dye, RF; Fields, 3B; Terrero, CF; Uribe, SS. Buehrle pitching. Expect Scott P to head to the DL tomorrow with Jerry Owens taking his place. That song and dance is getting old. really?? isn't there anyone else to call up? I'd like to see Sweeney again before Owens. -

any chance of a surprise announcement prior to game time...something along the lines of Buehrle signing? -
QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 08:01 AM) You didn't f'n ask me, but IMO there was no f'n deal for f'n JD on any f'n table. f'n eh!

QUOTE(SadChiSoxFanOptimist @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) This from Olney @ESPN: Michael (Dallas): Regarding the Dodgers, do you think Kemp is enough to pry Buehrle away? Is it worth if for LA? Thanks. Buster Olney: Michael: If the White Sox get Matt Kemp for Buehrle, that's a pretty good deal for a rent-a-player (for Chicago). Talked to about 10 people in the game over the last 24 hours and not one of them -- not one -- thinks the White Sox are making the right call by refusing to give Buehrle the no-trade clause. Given what the market is for pitching, four years and $56 million is an incredible bargain, and they should just give him the no-trade clause, or come up with some way around this sticking point (like guaranteeing a $5 million bonus if he's traded, or something like that). this is so depressing. I just don't get it.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 04:16 PM) yeah, good f'n point. sure, had we shopped Jermaine Dye right away, instead of f'n waiting, we wouldnt be f'n screwed and f'n stuck with an f'n injured outfielder we don't f'n need... and now his f'n value dropped. so perhaps, that's the f'n rush... bc you never know when someone's going to get hurt, and the sooner you can find a suitable deal, the better. why don't you f'n enlighten me then - what deal was on the table for JD that Kenny said no to?

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) There's no rush, unless you can assure me Buehrle doesn't regress these next several weeks (as he did last season) or more teams will enter the bidding. All I know of Buehrle is how he's pitched thus far, and that a contract extension appears dead. Nothing else from this point forward is guaranteed. I believe we're taking a risk assuming his value will remain where it is now in several weeks. Aside from an injury, there's nothing that's going to lessen his value. He could come out on Monday and get shelled and he's still going to be just as valuable as he is today. People know what they're getting from MB. Just think of all the insanity that comes into play in the final week or two before the trade deadline - you can't tell me that GM's don't feel the pressure. Sweat 'em out. It's for this reason that KW likes to deal early before the hysteria where you stand a greater chance of overpaying for the services of a guy like Jermaine Dye.
-
why? you've got until July 31st. You think the value of our players is going to go down the closer we get to that date, or up? what the hell's the big f'n rush.

White Sox vs. Royals, 7/01/07 (W)

AJ didn't even try to run it out. that's two runs he's left sitting at 3rd today. f*** him and his poor me routine. I miss the days when he was on Minnesota and I could still hate him. -

that was beautiful. Great approach up there gooch. -
Here's what I don't get: If Buehrle is dealt, we're still going to need a starter for 2008, because no one down on the farm is ready for the majors...that is, unless the Sox are going into total re-build mode and not looking to compete for a championship. In which case we can all watch the lkes of Floyd/Gio/Russell take their lumps and the Sox look more and more like one century wonders.
-
this deadline is bulls***. It's June 28th, not July 28th. whatever - the smart thing to do would be to sign Mark and get rid of Vaz or Count. Which means we'll keep those two and trade Mark for some bullpen arm who's just a "tick" below Jenks.

Yankees Interested in Konerko?

QUOTE(chisox72 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 06:15 AM) f*** that, and f*** the Yankees. Its typical NY paper belief that they can have anyone. That is all this article is. so true. Their arrogance knows no limits. -
would love to jetison Vaz and Count for some infield or pen help, then see a push to sign Zambrano in the off season, setting up an awesome rotation next season - Zambrano, Buehrle, Garland, Danks/Floyd/Gio.
-
cosmic convergence - offense, defense, pitching and bullpen all come together in one afternoon.
-
my yearly sojourn to chicago begins on saturday morning. I'll be at the game sunday. THAT'S why this is a big series. It's always been about me, always will.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) He could be a very valuable chip at the deadline if he can prove over the next month or so that he's healthy and able to perform up to his talent. i like that idea
-
I can't believe some of you are so convinced that a fire sale will heal this team in the future. Unproven talent is just, unproven. While I agree it would be a waste not to deal some dead weight before the deadline, I just not convinced it's going to pan out. Wasn't Jeremy Reed our number one prospect for awhile?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) If you think that's true, then I'll counter that anyone who doesn't understand why a Sox fan would want them to lose right now doesn't understand baseball (or the Sox's front office). you've moved from insightful to humorous. It's too bad. Tiger fans root for the Sox to lose, as do Twins fans. You're in good company. I don't have to root for the Sox to lose. They're just not very good. I'd love to see a miraculous resurgence and I will continue to root for it but I wouldn't bet a nickel on it happening. If they do turn it around (your nightmare) then I would be most happy. And something tells me you would be too, despite your statements to the contrary. -

Buehrle Wants a Five Year Contract
The Ginger Kid replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Didn't Jerry approach Mark and ask him that before he signed somewhere this off season that he give the sox a chance to consider matching the offer? And Mark agreed to it, IIRC.
