  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 07:18 PM) Go f*** yourself Sutcliffe. what was that windbag saying? never mind, I can bet the entire broadcast focused on the yankees and the fact that they're still alive.
  2. "End times, the rapture, huh?" A friend of mine does the closed captioning for The Sopranos. She's legally bound to keep her mouth shut (the whole office had to sign a document, apparently). I got her loaded and still couldn't get any details from her, except that they received the final episode weeks ago but the final scene was left out, which she won't get until this week (HBO secrecy). And she claims that the final scene holds the answer to Tony's fate. I can't wait.
  3. i love the mystery of sox games...how are they going to...oh, never mind
  4. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 4, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) I smell one of those at bats for Thome where he tosses the bat like he walked on a 3 ball count, but he actually took strike 3. good call
  5. I'm looking out my window at nothing but sunshine. Suck it up and play some ball. radar shows that once this current downfall passes over it should clear up. I'll bet they delay for an hour or so.
  6. Tim Brown has a column on Yahoo today about the Yankees still being alive, yet they are 12.5 back and six games below .500. that's comedy
  7. Six games out in the loss column (and tied with minny in the loss column). With as horrible as this team has played, it boggles the mind that they're still within striking distance.
  8. remember all the talk about the new "nasty boys" this winter?
  9. QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 01:48 PM) ^^^^^^ if charlie says I'm right it must be so
  10. you guys are arguing about rearranging deck chairs on the titanic. put on celine deon and a life jacket.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 09:27 AM) I see absolutely no reason the Devil Rays would want Dye. To make that sort of a deal you would need to get a 3rd team involved (potentially the Angels) who would give up the prospects/pieces necessary to allow the Sox to get Crawford (however, at that point, you would have to realistically wonder if the Angels wouldn't just get Crawford themselves). But if the Sox could pull a 3 way deal involving Dye/Broadway/Haeger or Phillips or McCulloch (reality is this opens up a spot for some of the AA guys to get to AAA as well) that netted the following teams something like this, than I'd be all in and I think both other teams would at least have to consider it. White Sox Get: Erik Aybar - 2B Carl Crawford - OF Give Up: Jermaine Dye Lance Broadway Charlie Haeger/Heath Phillips/Kyle McCulloch (if necesary an additional mid-level prospect and if one of the teams had interest in Brian Anderson that could be the guy to sweeten the deal) Tampa Bay Gets: Earvin Santana Lance Broadway One of Kyle McCulloch/Heath Phillips/Charlie Haeger Additional prospect from Angels (or Brian Anderson or some other mid-level prospect) Angels Get: Jermaine Dye (If interested they get Brian andreson and swing over another prospect to Tampa Bay). The main question is would the Drays do it. They would significantly upgrade there rotation in Santana (great arm), a guy like Broadway (who is ready to pitch for a team like the Rays and projects as a #3, maybe a #2 if everything goes right), Haeger or McCulloch (Haeger was once ready and maybe a change of scenery fixes that, or they could get another first round pick and hope he can continue to develop) plus at least one more prospect (it could be a pretty solid one at that). Either way they now have arms to go with Shields/Kazmir and they really have enough bats to replace the production of Carl Crawford. I do believe the Angels would easily make an Aybar/Santana for Dye move (in fact they probably would give up more). Sox significantly upgrade athletically with Aybar projecting as a potential #1 or 2 hitter in the future who would start off at the back of the lineup. Crawford would move up to the top of the lineup and we are talking about a duo that would steal 100 bases combined in the future. More importantly, Sox also cut payroll and now have the ability to swing Tadahito Iguchi to a potential contender to get more parts to kind of remake the offense (while still keeping Konerko/Thome together). This would also be no indication of a white flag move, rather a GM realizing his team is old and slow and doesn't fit the personality of his manager and making a mid-season adjustment to compliment what is a very strong pitching staff. I love this idea - especially Aybar. He's made some slick plays at 2b this year and the sox need some athletes. But what would you do with Buehrle? couldn't he bring the most talent? Me, I'd rather open the war chest and give him what he wants to stay. You can't get enough good pitching these days.
  12. We needed a re-built bullpen. Kenny gambled, and threw ace-deuce. But I don't think you take the dice out of his hand. I still like him to do what it takes to put this team back on top. He deserves criticism for this failure but he certainly doesn't deserve to lose his job over it.
  13. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 3, 2007 -> 03:53 AM) However, I completely disagree with the notion of inserting starting pitching prospects into a major league bullpen to salvage this season. If you're Williams, you just have to face reality -- this team isn't good. One arm alone won't make a difference. it is a good team, but with a very s***ty bullpen.
  14. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 01:00 PM) Yeah....if something continues to not work, don't keep doing it. Be creative...hell, make Massett the set-up guy or call up Gio to do it (I think I just gave Flash a heart attack). I will agree with one point - I'm tired of hearing Ozzie vent about not being afraid to make changes and then nothing happens. Sending Sisco to AAA was not a drastic move. If he wants to back up his smack he should DL Mac, AAA Ardsma and bring up some men who aren't afraid to throw strikes. Screw their development!
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 12:52 PM) I'm not blaming Ozzie for this loss....but when someone continues to make decisions that end up costing us runs/games in the 6th thru 8th inning, he does deserve some blame. We really have to stop letting Contreras start innings when he's around the 100 pitch mark though. please tell me who the hell you're talking about bringing into the game? Because I see no one in the pen getting anyone out. I'm sure you can find many other things to hang on Ozzie, but you're forcing the issue here. His hands are tied.
  16. a big reason we won in '05 is because our bullpen was filthy in late innings. This pen is so far away from being adequate that I can't imagine any dramatic turnarounds.
  17. should have left count in. what the hell, he's got to be better than this pen. Hey Kenny, you suck!
  18. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) Have fun in Charlotte I don't think you can send him to Charlotte - there's no one to bring up if we start sending everyone down.
  19. back to below .500 I get the feeling we're going to be bouncing between a few games above and a few games below until October.
  20. at least we'll have the bottom of the order coming up in the 9th.
