QUOTE(fathom @ May 8, 2007 -> 06:28 PM) The Tigers offense is going to be fantastic this year. Between them and the Indians, they make us look like an NL team. I'll take our pitching over either of their staffs.

Tonight's Lineup, per Reifert: Erstad, CF; Ozuna, DH; Dye, RF; PK, 1B; AJ, C; Iguchi, 2B; Crede, 3B; Cintron, SS; Sweeney, LF. Vazquez pitching. Jim Thome, while still on the DL, is in Minnesota and plans to take some swings today. Juan Uribe, while not in the lineup, has re-joined the team. I'm very happy to see Sweeney getting PT

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ May 7, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) This is the same woman who declared minutes after it happened, that the Esteban Loaiza for Jose Contreras and cash was "an amazing deal" for the Yankees. no...really??

File this one under insignificant. It's amazing to me with all their resources that the yankees continue to flounder when it comes to finding decent pitching.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 7, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) Looks like the Tribe will win their 19th game today. they are definitely on a roll. Sox can't let them to get too far ahead.

I was walking out of Angels stadium as the top of the 8th was getting started (a whining 4 year old on my shoulders). Was nice to hear the boos for AJ from the parking lot...and then the collective sigh. Can't believe they won that game. They looked dead.

These statistics explain a lot...reality or not?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 5, 2007 -> 03:47 PM) It really is incredible what a lack of a leadoff hitter will do just look at how many games the sox won when pods had at least one hit -- it's incredible. -
AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNNER!!!

QUOTE(fathom @ May 4, 2007 -> 11:15 PM) Everyone who wants to see more Cintron gets their wish. Uribe is back in Chicago for the wknd with his ailing mom. cintron is a joke at the plate. it's simply pointless. I had more confidence in royce clayton, and that's saying something. Question: has AJ Pierzynski thrown out a single runner attempting to steal this season? -
just got back from my first game of the season. ho-lee-s***. this team is baaad.

Couch rips the White Sox for "staying put"
The Ginger Kid replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(fathom @ May 4, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) Our inability to produce offensive talent from our minors over the past 3 years is really coming back to haunt us. It's pathetic that we couldn't even call up someone to be a DH at the major league level and expect them to hit .200. I guess it's not surprising when you see how bad the hitting is at Charlotte. I'll buy this. It's easy for a guy like Couch to sit back and criticize the non-moves, however I would like to read someone with more knowledge (Phil Rogers) offer some genuine options that were available to the Sox that were not moved on. I like to think we could've gotten a genuine leadoff hitter for a 17 game winner, addressing an immediate need. It's just that there are no guarantees and the Sox standing pat was a gamble. Still...it's too early to be putting a fork in this season. -
does anyone else think this ramon ortiz bubble is due to burst soon?

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 3, 2007 -> 10:55 AM) How did they go from being the 2nd best team in the entire Major Leagues Pre-ASB 2006 to being one of the worst in a matter of seconds? And I'm being slightly critical, slightly quizzical. It just seems that this team is not that good anymore, and the offense is just absolute garbage right now...but how is that possible to transition that quickly? There is talent, though not a lot right now, offensively on this team. Crede, Dye, Konerko, Iguchi, Pierzynski, and Uribe all have a shot in hell at doing something productive this year, Sweeney can probably mimic Erstad's stats pretty well, and then there is .270 singles hitter Erstad and Mackowiak. Basically, I just don't understand how that team is hitting .225 as a whole. Someone has to take the fall, whether right or wrong, and I think it has to be Walker. For more than a year it feels like we've been waiting for this team to "click" as hawk says. To me it seems like they clicked in the first five months of '05 and then again in October of '05. That's it. And I'm not taking anything away from winning 90 games last year, I'm just talking about the team playing to the potential we all seem to think is there (although I'm starting to doubt that as well).

Anyone else currently regreting letting Ross Gload go?
The Ginger Kid replied to Chisoxrd5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I'm surprised that you think Gload would be getting that much PT with the Sox. I'm glad to see him playing this much and finding a groove. -
QUOTE(fathom @ May 1, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) I was more confident last year for the sole reason that I thought Contreras was a stud at the beginning of last year. Now, he's a shell of his former self, and I'm not sure how he's going to get his ERA under 5 with a 90 mph fastball and no forkball. if you take away the opening day fiasco and chalk it up to a freak occurance, his ERA would be a respectable 3.36. the pitching doesn't concern me at all. Guys like McD and Sisco however, do.

White Sox vs. Mariners, 5/2/07 (L)
The Ginger Kid replied to Jimbo's Drinker's topic in 2007 Season in Review
I'm a big fan of Greg Walker but whatever he's trying with these guys isn't working. Sox need to bite the bullet and re-assign him in the organization or just let him go. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 1, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) Not sure, but i'm guessing the answer is "Gustavo Molina". but that means molina will play manana, I'm assuming. Against a righty, no?
