  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 08:12 PM) Then hit .313 in July, .296 in August and .200 in September. Just for the sake of full disclosure. And why again was he lied to about being given a chance to win a starting job in Spring Training? two good months out of six. outstanding. and who in the hell lied to the guy? oh, that's right. that guy. anyway, enjoy your whine, it will be champagne in a few weeks once erstad heads to the DL. And Pods pops another nut. And Brian will take his rightful place in the starting lineup. Every day. It's coming, believe me. And then we can argue how Bri-guy isn't seeing good pitches because he should be hitting 5th or 6th instead of 8th and 9th and how that f***er ozzie is a master of career sabotage. Alas, if only we had a manager who knew how to care for the fragile youth.
  2. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 07:54 PM) Riddle me this one, After having 2 hits in his first game of the season, how long was it before he was on the bench. Oh that would be game 2. and two days later went 0-5, leading to a blistering .161 avg in April. But hey, he pushed it to .164 in May, then really broke out in June to bump it up to .174 and you still didn't answer the original question. Get over it, he SUCKED last year. We all hope he does better this year.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 07:01 PM) I absolutely hate how BA has been handled by this team. We honestly gave him 0 shot to succeed riddle me this - who was that guy starting in CF opening day last season? Who was the guy they gave the job to at the beginning of ST last year?
  4. I'm a vocal supporter of Ozzie's decisions on Anderson, Pods, Erstad and many other topics, but in this case he f***ed up, and if you don't think so just look at his quotes after yesterday's game -- he was scrambling to cover his ass because he knew it too. Hall could've been a huge spark on days when AJ takes a rest, and a solid bat off the bench late in games and in NL parks. f***!!!
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 10:34 AM) This is why you don't play catchers at first base. why the hell wasn't Mack getting time at 1B instead of Hall? the only FA signing of any note and he's toast for the season
  6. that's huge. f*** me, I was really looking forward to seeing him behind the plate.
  7. seriously, I have no clue. This lineup will score runs. The pitching....?
  8. I wish they would sign Dye. Let him play RF for a year more and then move him to DH.
  9. Here's a cool article on Curt Schilling about his blog and the fact that he likes surfing and interacting on message boards like this. Made me wonder if any Sox get on here and post (I know some have surfed, from what I've read).... SI article
  10. I'd rather throw Danks at Johan than anyone else...why possibly waste a quality start from one of our other four?
  11. Good to see Hermanson's back is back and he's pitching well... Linky
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 11:47 PM) No, they WILL struggle out of the box, but will settle down eventually. Danks especially has shown that trend. but I have supreme confidence in this kids stuff. He can dominate at the major league level, the question is when. I also like the idea of him learning something from Buehrle this year before Mark bolts.
  13. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) That sounds to me like a guy who wants to start in the big leagues, right away. he also pitched like a guy who knew he was in competition for a job...a plus, in my book.
  14. QUOTE(iamshack @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 06:42 AM) I disagree however, with those that claim that Brian being left off the 25-man roster would seal his fate as gone. it's ridiculous to trade Brian. He's still the same 5-tool player that drafted, IMO, and I think he has a long career ahead of him with the Sox. It just didn't get started the way everyone, especially Brian, would have liked.
  15. Good read. It just wouldn't be a Soxtalk article without this... poor Brian Anderson....
  16. can't wait to see Boone go ballistic when he gets the shaving cream pie in the face
  17. QUOTE(bad at best @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 06:19 PM) Part of what makes white sox fans great is that they are well informed, demand a good product and don't put bind faith in anything. If you want to put blind faith in a team, go hang out at the Cubbie Bear on Clark, you'll find alot of company. very well put particularly the part about blind faith (see posts re: BA's second half in the majors)
  18. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) The bottom 6 AL teams in spring training ERA all train in Arizona. The Top 8 all train in Florida. Coincidence? it's a valid point. Mark Grant, the color guy for the Padres, says pitching in Tucson is like "pitching on the moon."
  19. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) I really hope are pitchers have a game plan this spring and are just working up there arms, because they havent been to good. especially when you compare it with what other staffs in our division are doing this spring.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 21, 2007 -> 12:58 PM) Erstad with another single. F***. rooting against Erstad?
  21. damnit! I asked this question last month and somebody said it wasn't coming back!!
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) So far this spring any pitcher that challenges us over the plate gets decked. Anyone that pitches and hits the outside corner shuts us down. Good to see that we havent changed too much. isn't that true with most good pitchers?
  23. that was a good pitch Russel made on Sweeney at 3-1 dye fans, some guy named crede up
