QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 09:23 AM) I think we're better off putting out a guy to give up 7 runs in 6 innings and saving the pitching staff the innings than we are using up the offdays like that. It's true that we shouldn't expect too much from the 5th starter. That said, it would be fun to watch Charlie on the mound. It pains me to say it because I'm rooting for him to make the team, but Danks could benefit from a move to AAA. This rotation has me seriously on edge going into the season. And it's not helping that Jenks is getting shelled in B games. Offensively I think we're a plus team. But we all know where one dimension gets us. Have you noticed what the tigers rotation is doing this spring?

What if its not Anderson, Terrero or Perez
The Ginger Kid replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He was my pick to break camp with the team, but he's heading to Charlotte, despite a surge at the plate and awesome speed on the basepaths. And he's a UCLA man. That should count for something. -
old school solution: Four man rotation throw Haeger out there on occasion to keep a five day rest for the four starters.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 08:11 PM) I can't wait until May when all this bulls*** is moot thanks to the disabled list. If not sooner. There's still two weeks of spring training. Pods went 0 for 7 in a minor league game today. The fan club is currently on hiatus.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 08:03 PM) Worst 1-2-3 when facing the likes of Dennys Reyes. overrated pothead who had one good season

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 07:57 PM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines See ya Brian. Considering Ozzie said he'd only make the roster if he's a full-time starter, I hope Anderson is looking for an apartment in Charlotte. Not so fast, Fathom...

Today is the Day! (3-18 Thread)

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 18, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) Lets look at Danks's MO. He is the youngest at each of the levels he has gone to, he gets touched up a bit at first, then makes an adjustment and then does very well at that level. It kind of makes his overall numbers look not that impressive, but if you do splits he does pretty damn good. I figure the same thing will happen when he comes up. He just needs to hold his own a bit, until he does unlock it and then he should be real good. The talent and the stones are there. that's a great point. -
The best pitched inning in Sox history/Your thoughts
The Ginger Kid replied to StatManDu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Good stuff. But hands down in my book is the 6th inning in Boston, coming in with no outs and the bases juiced and not surrendering a run. In the playoffs. I still get goosebumps. -
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 11:03 PM) If Brian Anderson can have some ridiculous hyperbolic fan club then why can't Podsednik? I agree. Meetings every Wednesday night in my basement, followed by re-runs of Oprah. Can someone bring the Fiddle Faddle? And Balta, do you think Brian Anderson is a better CF than a healthy Darin Erstad? Do you also think he'll perform better at the plate than a healthy Darin Erstad?
-
good news for Sox fans, bad news for members of the Brian Anderson's a God fan club: As for Erstad...
-
I so agree with this... I hated the trade for Pods and was furious with letting Mags go. This time around I'm giving KW the benefit of the doubt.
-
I love it when KW blows a fuse

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 14, 2007 -> 11:24 PM) And then proceeded to platoon him with one of the worst defensive CFers I've ever seen? some vote of confidence right. keep running him out there. whatever is best for Brian.
-
so the point of this thread is a healthy Pods is a bad thing? And correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it Ozzie Guillen who gave BA a vote of confidence last June when he couldn't get a hit to save his ass and everyone was screaming for him to be sent down? weird s***.

I didn't get a chance to watch any of the game, so apologies if this is repetitious, but how did Garland look after the rough 1st? -
anyone notice Uribe having a good spring? Granted, he's not as interesting as Anderson chat, which is reaching an Anna Nicole Smith fever pitch around here. Crede's hitting a cool .500 PK checking in at .400 Jim-Boy's ripping moonshots and Terrero is going to make for a tough decision come cut time. Logan hasn't given up an earned run yet and Danks has a 2.00 ERA over 9 IP. Are the Indians really that much better this year? The Twins? Random thoughts, all of which interest me more than the ongoing saga of Brain Anderson and Aaron Rowand.
-
Let's trade Gio for Rowand

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Mar 12, 2007 -> 10:15 AM) I just hope the Sox field the team that gives them the best chance to win. So if that is with Anderson, that's great, but if it is not, at least he will be getting regular reps in Charlotte and not rotting on the bench. if last year is any indication, he needed another year of seasoning in the minors. Even if he doesn't make the team you gotta believe we'll see him at some point, what with the injury prone Pods and Erstad.
-
me likey Danks. What the hell, give him a shot. Floyd seems to be too robotic still, so maybe a trip to AAA will do him well. Of course, I'd prefer Haeger over all. As a big Wilbur Wood fan, it would be great to see another knuckleballer in the rotation.
-
I love the underdog role thrust on the Sox this year. I can't wait for the season to get started.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 01:37 PM) If we're really serious about Danks, he should be starting games from this point forward. When you come into a game after the starter, there's a chance several of the opposing team's players may have been replaced. He should be giving our coaches a good look against legitimate major league talent. I think I read that he would get a start this weekend, no? gio is still a long shot, but I think he might get a start too. -
what the hell would we do with Pods? Seriously, when and where would all these guys play? I've been watching the '05 DVD's and I had forgotten how well Rowand played (base running gaffe aside) in the playoffs.

If Steve Phillips said it then it must be true
