2007 White Sox Predictions Thread
The Ginger Kid replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Anybody know where SI is picking the Sox to finish? I saw that MSNBC had us 4th, with Cleveland 1st. I haven't found ESPN's predictions yet... -
I don't recall him ever being brought to trial...which makes the prospect of being accused of a crime in Venezuela even more terrifying. It's a good question. What the hell is going on down there? Did he plead guilty?

2007 White Sox Predictions Thread
The Ginger Kid replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2007 Season in Review
Prediction: It's June and the Sox are lurking near the top of the division. Suddenly, Pods re-injures his groin. Just before the break, Erstad's hammy takes him down as he dives for a gapper (and makes the catch). Fans dive into foxholes. Yet additions Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney, who've been tearing it up in Charlotte, spark the lineup. Suddenly team speed becomes a factor again. The pitching responds and the team rides a wave of momentum into September. Yet the Tigers, as predicted, match them every step of the way. The last 3 games of the season will determine the division winner. On Sunday afternoon, Pablo Ozuna sticks his bat out and slices a Joel Zumaya fastball just inside the fairpole in right. Sox win. Detroit accepts the role as Wild Card and travels to Boston, where they promptly dispose of the overhyped carmines. Erstad haunts his old team as the Sox trounce the Angels. Sox meet the Tigers in the ALCS. Despite the build-up and national attention given to this series, it proves to be no contest. Sox sweep, and move on to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in a re-match of the '59 series. -
Could be a pretty good outfield in.............

I've got the same feeling in my gut that I had when Lovie called timeout with 2 seconds left in the seahags game. The "what the hell are you thinking?" feeling. -

QUOTE(hi8is @ Feb 22, 2007 -> 10:34 PM) there's two reasons we traded chris young.... 1) javy 2) brian.... i suspect really great leaps by both of them this year.... i also suspect a LOT of crow eating I'm ready to eat it. It's just...I don't think he's our starting CF coming out of spring training this year. Erstad in center, Owens in left, my prediction. Jerry's going to have a big spring.

He'd better be in shape this time.

Is QuesTec definitely gone from the cell? Anybody know where it will be this season in our division?

Will spring training game be on mlb.tv

I'm buying the premium package this season - it sounds pretty cool and I hope to god they have truly worked out the kinks with Macs. Plus it allows you to watch other games simultaneously. Over 150 spring training games will be shown, so you can bet many of them will be Sox games. linky -
big thanks to whoever takes the time to put this up -- I appreciate it. You guys do a great job on this site.
-
stocked with minor league talent, it's hard to project success...though I'm hopeful

You probably already know this, but you can check out the interview along with some others by clicking on the links on this page (scroll down and you'll see the links under "Spring Training" on the right): Interviews

pictures can be deceiving. check out this one of Granderson...he's either roided up or the angle is generous...

which current sox players will eventually be HOFers?

Jon Garland has a shot. A long one, but a shot. What he did in June, July and August last season was awesome. He's shown flashes of brilliance and seems to be putting them together for longer periods of time during the season. I keep thinking that one season, he's going to dominate. There's no reason he shouldn't be a 20 game winner and with his delivery and build, he can do it for years to come. He's 27, still young enough to get it going. Curt Schilling had 34 wins by the time he was Garland's age. Garland has 82. -
I actually kind of like Kenny's approach toward the FA's. It's no secret that the last year of a contract drives players to perform better in hopes of landing a big deal the next season. If these guys have a big season then the Sox' chances of winning another WS gets a lot better. Winning has a way of greasing the wheels, just look at Konerko. I'd say that if the Sox would've fallen short in the playoffs in '05 then he's probably wearing an Angels jersey right now. Let's win, see what happens. That's what he's saying.

must say I dig the black shorts/black socks combo

Ken Rosenthal Talks Offseason Moves
The Ginger Kid replied to Gregory Pratt's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A 17 game winner and Tiger killer who stepped up big time in the playoffs? Yeah, a couple of prospects oughta do it. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 14, 2007 -> 06:42 PM) Santana came out of the pen for a season and was even worse than McCarthy was last year. Apparently he's a headcase as well. Same goes for Roy Halladay. Did they also leave their 90mph fastball up in the zone? -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 11:12 AM) The bullpen will be used sparingly again because that's the way Ozzie manages. He had no confidence in last year's bullpen (I can't blame him). I hope this year's crew inspires more confidence and we don't see Javy out there in the 7th inning in detroit.

Comparing the AL Central Starting Rotations

QUOTE(fathom @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 09:00 AM) I can't believe the Sox are counting on Floyd, someone who struggled to get minor league hitters out last season. I would like to see him post a sub 4 ERA in AAA before pitching in the AL. Can I make the prediction now that either KW or Ozzie won't be with the Sox in 2008? I can't see Ozzie managing during a rebuilding period. On the bright side, the Sox have started the last few seasons without a reliable 5th starter. On the darker side, last year's tank is now our 4th starter. -
QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 06:13 PM) Thats a ludicrous statement. It makes me question everything else he says.
-
I think Jerry Owens is coming to Tucson on a mission. I think he'll be starting in LF and leading off on opening day.
-
Leaving Tucson it will be Floyd. By June it will be Haeger time.

Seems like many of you are counting on Buehrle to rebound. If he does, we're better than Minny. If not...
