  1. on paper we should lose ground this weekend. Which is why it's going to be fun to watch them disappoint the fans in detriot and tinky-winky land who are counting on it. I think we're being treated to something we've been waiting for all season - a stretch of dominant starts by our front five. And it's just getting started.
  2. Rooting for Cleveland is painful, but necessary. Let's hope Cliff Lee is up to the task.
  3. QUOTE(GreatScott82 @ Sep 14, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Phil knows his stuff. And he's right, as hot as the Twins are playing, they can easily collapse like Cleveland did last year. He's also right about Detroit they just seem to be either tired or just 'waiting' for the playoffs to start. Lets hope the Tribe can help us tonite. Its Bonser vs Lee Lee can either be really on or just terrible. Lets hope the button is pushed on tonite. Konerko's pretty saavy, and after they lost 2 of 3 to the tribe he said there will more more momentum swings in the next three weeks. I think he's right. I just hope the Sox are 2 or 3 back going into the series with Detroit. That's an opportunity that seemed impossible a month ago and now it's very realistic.
  4. Anyone know what's happening with Radke? I know he's got the bumb shoulder but are they just resting him hoping to get one or two starts at the end of the season?
  5. thanks for posting that, good interview. Phil's right on about the twins and the fact that they play with more energy.
  6. This is a ridiculous start time after a friday night game. Probably a gopher game late that afternoon. I'm hoping that the game Friday night will lock us up a playoff spot.
  7. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 01:57 PM) I'd be surprised if he doesn't start hurting again and soon. That's not the kind of injury that just goes away. He'll need the off season or a good two months to heal.
  8. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) So are we going to get a new "The Fuse Is Lit" banner now? And will it also be a joke after we lose 3 of the next 5? I thought your sig was the joke. At least it makes me laugh.
  9. I'd be surprised if he doesn't start hurting again and soon. That's not the kind of injury that just goes away. He'll need the off season or a good two months to heal.
  10. embrace the doom. You know it's coming. We've seen them play an entire season and have yet to see anything to suggest that this will be a successful road trip. If they were somehow to go 3-3 I would be surprised and delighted, but I think we're looking at 1-5, maybe 2-4.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) I asked this in the game thread: who's more overrated right now, McCarthy or Anderson? On these boards? Both, by a mile.
  12. I got a bad feeling that come next Monday the 2006 Chicago White Sox will be all but eliminated. I would so love it if they proved me wrong.
  13. nice job by Thornton. AJ should be walking to the mound to shake his hand.
  14. great time of year to have your closer go completely into the tank
  15. there's no way he should've been in, he's f***ing hurt. And there's no way he should've stayed in after giving up the tie, much less the lead. They deserve to lose.
  16. not that they ever would've dreamed of doing it, but can you imagine the trade value of Cotts this last off season?
  17. I wish he would've left Cotts in. Seriously. Let him clean up his own mess for a change.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) I'm eagerly looking forward to next week. It should be fascinating baseball. Hopefully, the good posters will come into the game threads, and the fair-weather fans will stay out. got that right. I'll be at the games, so bad posters like moi will be off the boards. Why in the world I bought tickets and booked a trip to the Bay in advance I'll never know. But I'm on the hook.
  19. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 07:28 PM) imposter.
  20. Uribe and Anderson back to back is a toxic cocktail. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 07:25 PM) BTW...my quick calculations show we'll face Bonser, Santana, and Liriano in the final 3 games of the season if everything holds true to what we've heard. The west coast trip will render that fact pointless. We'll be facing scrubs while they set their rotation for the playoffs.
  21. 3 innings left. they should really try and win this game.
  22. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 07:16 PM) and we just want to out suck them. well...um...not so much
