  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) No, it was 8 runs tonight, and 225 tomorrow. I think Neal's really turning a corner. Oh wait...
  2. not to get anyone's hopes up...but that tribe bullpen is ripe for the picking. If we had some pickers, that is.
  3. glad to see charlie's made some real improvement since the last time we saw him.
  4. As someone who has staunchly maintained that this team is "turning it around" I would like to officially withdraw my claims. I was wrong. Very, very wrong.
  5. it's cliff lee. and the indians. all is well
  6. if his back is acting up he should come out - plenty of help in the pen
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 03:44 PM) That's not good. The news gets better though, as Hafner's expected back after missing the past few games. Mackowiak in LF against a lefty? That makes no sense. We might as well put Ozuna in LF, and Cintron at 3B. Nice to see Ozzie can't even keep his decisions straight, as he said Sweeney would be playing tonight. This is an awful lineup we have tonight. I expected to see Sweeney as well. UGH.
  8. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 12:25 PM) I dont know exactly how this works but since Owens was called up prior to Aug. 31 and was immediately put on the DL, does that, in essence, mean that there is an available playoff spot for himself or someone else (Hermanson, Sweeney, Logan)??? I remember the Frankie Rodriguez thing a few years back but not the actual details. Let's say we make the playoffs and we have some September call up who just plays great from here on out. Is there any way someone like a Logan or Hermanson (or someone else) could be elgibile to play through some loophole claiming someone was hurt and on the DL? A player on the DL can be replaced with someone else but it has to be for the same position, so a pitcher could not take his place. However, a Mr. Ryan Sweeney could if the league approves it.
  9. Let's get it going and keep it going...
  10. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 02:19 PM) Well, since we're just speculating... I think he had a Snicker's bar, a bottle of lemon-lime Gatorade, and a Flinstone's vitamin.
  11. QUOTE(cgaudin @ Sep 7, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) I get the feeling Sweeney could stay in the lineup for good. Too bad we can't have him for the post-season, if we make it that is. I thought he was added to the active roster on August 31st, no? According to Rule 40(a), a player must be on his club’s active big league roster or disabled list (or bereavement list, suspended list, or military list) on August 31 in order to be eligible for post-season play. then again, I thought the playoff roster of 25 also had to be set on August 31st. So I'm not really sure. And there is this from an article on the Rangers website regarding loopholes:
  12. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) I don't think this team has turned a corner I do, and I think it started before last night. With the exception of Freddy's start in KC, the starting rotation is, as Coop pointed out this week, coming together. It easily could've been back to back CG in Boston. Like Konerko said, the offense feeds off those strong starts. Sox have a tough test ahead with no breaks in the schedule. Cleveland is playing good and the Angels are putting together a run and we all know what the A's are doing. Even Seattle is battling. I think we're in for a good run to the finish.
  13. anybody get the feeling that Dustin might chuck one inside on one of the sawks?
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:39 PM) What is the pitch count for Count? 88 looking at back to back CG's they're baaaaaack
  15. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:36 PM) Since we're winning big tonight and since we seem to rate Ozzie's performance as horses*** every night we lose ... would you detractors say Ozzie did a good to great job tonight?? dude, they aren't going to be happy until he's fired, regardless of whether or not he leads this team to another parade, they want him FIRED.
  16. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 6, 2006 -> 06:33 PM) If so....weird way to get a first hit. it's ruled as a force out, no hit, on gameday, for what it's worth
  17. Imagine a race that comes down to the final weekend and all three teams are tied. and KC sweeps!
  18. QUOTE(loltrain @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) Guillen is expected back for the series with the Twins, Polanco perhaps by next week. then why are they reporting that Polanco is done for the season? Polanco
  19. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) How the f*** is Brian Anderson dead weight? And so help me if you say his batting average is .230 I will strike you down good sir. And I shall smite thee! seriously Kalapse, he's hitting .230 And I would remind you that in June when there was talk of sending Anderson down who made the decision to stick with him? Who gave him the vote of confidence? Oswaldo Guillen. And if you guys would set aside your man love for Brian and read between the lines just a bit you'd see that this all got started with Anderson's "luke warm" reception to the idea of playing winter ball. That prompted Guillen to remind he's young five (so I'm told) tooled player that playing time in the bigs is earned. You guys act as if Ozzie was just talking off the top of his head and decided to call out Anderson for no reason.
  20. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) I'd like to see him "pick" on Pods or Garcia the same way. Ozzie is full of s***. He clearly plays favorites. An idiot can see how much Brian has evolved during the year. An idiot can also see what a gifted CF he already is. If Brian is not our starting CF next year -- I'm done with White Sox baseball until Ozzie is fired. He's "picking" on Brian?? Just so I'm clear, Ozzie should be saying what about Anderson's struggles? "Brian's our centerfielder. Today and next year and the year after that. End of discussion." And Anderson deserves to start in CF every game regardless of his performance at the plate.
  21. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 07:27 PM) The Chicago White Sox last August/September. You're right, I forgot about all those threads last year where everyone was praising the effort in a losing cause knowing full well these guys would pull out of the nosedive right before fatal impact and go on to win a world series. No mention of corpse ball, no suggestion of quitting, no accusations of lack of heart, no doubting their chances even if they did manage to back into the playoffs. QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) Yes! The Sox slumped badly in August and well into September of last year and they hustled and showed a hell of a lot of heart night in and night out. They had fire and hunger, regardless of how they were playing at the time. This year's team acts like it just doesn't want it nearly as badly as it did last year. Ah yes, those scrappy sox. They were fun to watch last september.
  22. sounds spot on to me. Why the f*** should Anderson be guaranteed anything? He's dead weight in the order and Ozzie's putting him on notice and doing it with confidence in his ability. Poor Brian. Ozzie's picking on him. Boo f***ing hoo.
  23. I'm actually encouraged. I know, that's nuts. But the hitting will snap out of it, to me that's a given and I think it will happen in short order. Have you ever seen a team look like it had heart and hustle when it's slumping? The pitching is starting to shine. And if Count turns it around then I'll feel even better heading down the stretch. The way Javy pitched tonight and Jon last night should give us hope. Pitching > hitting Pitching wins championships.
  24. well at least Justin Morneau will be happy. And isn't that what really counts?
