  1. boy this team is bad. Hitting's great, pitching sucks. Pitching shines, hitting tanks. wtf...
  2. somebody better talk to Sweeney -- he's not going with the program
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) We had escaped the injury bug all season. In the last few weeks now, we've had Thome, Dye, and now Jenks get injured. Hopefully the Dye injury is only a few days. If MacDougal has to become the closer, we desperately need another reliever not named Thornton to step up and show a pair. Cliff's in post-op. I'll give him a call.
  4. I would be shocked and happy to see him hit .240. That would mean a great improvement. I rag on Anderson a lot, not because I don't think he's a great talent. I certainly think he is. But this is a team built to make a run at consecutive championships and the gamble that he could carry his weight in the lineup was a total bust. In the early stages it looked like his AB's would be negated by the sluggers in the lineup, but May is long gone and when we've needed someone who's a legitimate threat to get on base, move runners along and just have quality at bats, Brian hasn't done his job. People b**** that ozzie should play him more when I'm surprised he's received as much playing time as he has. A move at the deadline to bring in a replacement was sorely needed, IMO.
  5. Lineup: Ozuna Iguchi Crede Thome Konerko AJ Anderson Uribe Sweeney
  6. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 12:17 PM) Papi has been cleared to return Catching all the breaks, aren't we?
  7. I don't see how he can possibly be any worse than Brian Anderson. Or Uribe. Or Podsednick. Or Pierzynski. Put him down in the order, where rallies go to die.
  8. Shingo's in line at Immigration in San Francisco. Seems to be having trouble getting through customs with his hair gel. Nice to see the old gang back together again.
  9. QUOTE(The Critic @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 09:18 PM) Sorry, but as painful as the second half of this season has been, Ozzie still has some slack left on my rope. The phrase "2005 World Series Champions" still brings a smile to my face, and I'm still grateful. I'll be disappointed if this team doesn't reach the postseason, but that's all I'll be - disappointed. Not angry, not hateful, not lining up for Soxfest to rip anyone a new a**hole. Everyone on this site has been crying for The McSavior to start, but the last three times he's been put in a pressure situation, he's gacked. Is that Ozzie's fault? Or is it McCarthy's? Point is, the players aren't producing this year. They did last year. THAT is the difference. Ozzie had Timo last year, he has Rob this year. He's the same guy, the same manager. The results are different so far, and that's the difference between a great manager and a crappy one. possibly the best post I've read on this board.
  10. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 5, 2006 -> 11:05 AM) Is it bad the only reason I want to watch is because Sweeney might play.... I'm torn. I wasn't going to watch it and not even bother to check the score until the paper comes tomorrow. But with Sweeny playing, it's hard to resist.
  11. manny vs. bobby in the 9th. please get him another run.
  12. well, at least Rob battled. That last pitch was nasty, so close. Can't lay off that when it's screaming along the dirt. Just ask BA. It's not their fault.
  13. NESN color analyst: "isn't that a pinch hitter on deck for Jermaine Dye?" yeah, dumbass, he was in RF last inning too.
  14. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 06:21 PM) For us gameday followers, please post any TV updates on Dye. NESN announcers didn't even mention it. Shocking. Too busy talking about the Dave Roberts dinner at the Bosox hall of fame club. Celebrating the "steal of the century". Red Sox are pathetic.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 06:14 PM) ... the 2nd strike was questionable and the curve was pretty nasty to finish him off. please. don't even try.
  16. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 06:07 PM) Why he is a right handed whitesox player. Low and Away joe's 2-2 without a pitch thrown for a strike
  17. I'd be surprised if Crede gets anything to hit with anderson coming up
  18. jd swings at ball 4. lot of faith in the guy behind him
  19. good inning still. Those guys battled to get on base and someone came through with a hit. Jon didn't give in. If only our hitters would start battling.
  20. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 4, 2006 -> 05:32 PM) *queues up "Wonderland" on IFC* such a cool film
