QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) Somebody in Trade Winds said something like that. McCarthy is too good to trade for Soriano, but he's not good enough to take Vazquez's spot in the rotation. Seems pretty ridiculous. they seem to be very stubborn on some points, and the starting pitchers is the biggest -

nice props on Around the Horn for KW's decision to make no big moves. Pitching needs to turn it around and they'll be fine. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 12:47 PM) If there's anything left of "Big Game" Freddy Garcia, if that pitcher we saw last year isn't totally dead, then today's the day we'll see it. Winning a must-win game in the middle of a slump against a pitcher who's been dominant lately...that's what Garcia was good at last year. normally I would take 7 innings, 3 ER's from Fred, but today? He's got to match Bedard and keep it close. I just don't see the O getting much of a chance against this guy. -

Win a game against a pitcher who's been lights out. Now that would be impressive. -
ST Poll: How will the White Sox finish the season?
The Ginger Kid replied to aboz56's topic in Pale Hose Talk
"We just have to regroup," Paul Konerko said. "We're judging ourselves off what has happened in the last two weeks, and if you do that, you might want to jump off a building." "Don't worry; they'll be there," Gardenhire assured—or warned—everybody keeping an eye on what has been happening to the Sox. "At the end of the year, those guys will have great numbers. We know where they're at. Trust me, they'll be there." we will be back... -

Win the AL Central. I just got this feeling. And it's still July. -
QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) I know we'll snap out of it and go on a tear, but will it be too late? no, it won't be. If it were August 26 you could bury the Sox for sure. Their schedule doesn't really let up all that much so for them to come back they have to play superior ball against teams like Detroit, NY, Boston and Minny to GAIN ground. 500 ball against those teams won't cut it. I like the road trip they're going on and it could lead to a stretch where they go 5-5 or 6-4. Get the ship back on course at least and then go on a tear. I think a lot of us expect them to go from turds to diamonds in one game, but that's unlikely. I also like the fact that teams like the twins and tigers are red hot right now. I'd rather have a team get hot late in the season rather than in mid-season. I also like the fact that it's hard to imagine them playing any worse as a team. There are some quality characters in that clubhouse who won't quit and won't let others quit around them. They feed off each other, good and bad. Algo es posible con los calcetines blancos!

QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) 1-0???? I think you've already lit it up. I know, low score. Which is not to say each team didn't have their opportunities. 14 GIDP recorded by each team. EACH. Konerko alone accounted for 10, seeing as how he bats for both teams.
-
who would you pick to win: mid-Sept. '05 Sox vs. current '06 Sox? I think Timo wins it in the 12th inning with a blooper into right. 1-0. Light it up!
-
i prefer to think of it as a "non-win." not that he'd ever do it, but KW could wave the white flag and pick up some good prospects in the next week...just a thought.

new low I'm taking a week off. Don't know about you all but I fear I invested too much into this season and for that, I'm an idiot.

QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:45 PM) Is it over yet? Can I open my eyes? no, put your head back in the oven. We'll call when it's over.

QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Not going to happen against Nathan. it ain't gonna happen against ANYBODY.

Damn, in five more days I have to stop saying "it's still July"
-
remember when a 3 run dficit in the eighth still meant you had a realistic shot at winning the game? Like two months ago? That's what they need, a good old fashioned come from behind victory.

QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 01:07 PM) Maybe some of our clubhouse leaders will call a players' only meeting and see what they, themselves, can do to break out of this death spiral. Paulie? Jermaine? AJ? Paulie's a lover not a fighter. Dinger with nobody on.
