  1. anybody catch Leyland's visit to the mound to talk to Zumaya? Said about three words and split.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 26, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) Swing at balls, take strikes. Sounds like a great plan! consistency. it's a virtue
  3. QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 10:16 PM) This tail spin is going to stop, I hope it's soon. at some point you stop being afraid of losing, get so disgusted by it, that you start doing anything to win. I think this team is getting close to that point.
  4. tough to move guys over when no one's on base
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 06:43 PM) You slide to the back of the base. If the 3rd baseman is on the inside of the base, you go to the outside. Hell...Cora had a good view of the play, he could have pointed for him to go more to the outside. it was a good throw
  6. feels like I'm just waiting around to watch minny score again and put the nail in the coffin. I hate feeling like this.
  7. QUOTE(Soxman72 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 06:15 PM) OR get called out looking on an inside pitch JD had no chance swinging at that pitch
  8. even the twinkies remind me of the sox with the way they put guys in motion on the bags
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) Thankfully, we face Bedard this weekend. Damn food poisoning! We weren't going to face him, but now we will. when it rains it pours
  10. detroit is playing some amazing baseball
  11. damn the twinkies have some good looking young players
  12. there is no quit in detroit, I have to give them that
  13. QUOTE(Maverick0984 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) Rogers 6 runs 48 pitches 0.2 innings pitched doesn't even get out of the first. And Granderson commits his first error of the season. The wheels are off! Stick a fork in detrot!
  14. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:57 AM) THey had a swagger most of the year and thats been gone as of late and because of that everyone's pressing and struggling. to me, that's one of the most surprising and upsetting developments. The lack of confidence. It wasn't that long ago when they were all saying "we're never out of a game" and playing like that too. Now they lose a lead and you can just sense the desperation. The fan in me would like to think that this slump will make this team stronger if they can weather this and emerge with new determination, but the realist in me wonders if last year was just one of those cases where they caught lightning in a bottle. And I hate that thought.
  15. at some point they will show up at the park expecting to win. Hard to believe it will be today. I see this team falling 9-10 games back before it gets any better.
  16. QUOTE(Beltin @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 09:32 AM) I wish I shared your enthusiasm. Last year was an unbelievable high. I have never been more excited about sports than when I heard Rooney's final pennant-clnching call for game 5 of the ALCS. The thing is, once the World Series was won, the letdown was huge. I went to Houston and sat in the stands and celebrated the victory as hard as anyone. However, I have realized this year that devoting so much time, energy and emotion to a bunch of strangers who really don't care a ton about my success is a big waste of my life. Last year was great but I realized I should relax and enjoy the game of baseball more and stop letting the ups and down of the White Sox enter my state of being. The Sox were playing the Yankees 2 Sundays ago and I decided I could not watch the game or worry about the score that day. They ultimately lost, which is not material to my point. Whether they won or lost that game did not change the fact that I had one of the better Sundays in a while hanging out with my two sons in the backyard and enjoying the weather. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer that the White Sox win it all. I just can't devote another 25 summers of my life willing the Sox to win another championship. It is just not worth it. good post
  17. cleveland might come back and we could rally against nathan. I'm calling my bookie.
  18. and MacD thought he was coming to a better team....psych!
  19. what in the world is it going to take to snap out of this funk?
