Starting a New Mojo--Sox @ Tigers
The Ginger Kid replied to Heads22's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) Paulie makes a nice play to retire Maggs. that really was a nice play, wasn't a squibber hit down there. Mags scares me when he starts going to right. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) Feeling fine and pitching fine = 3 more runs in 5 innings? Blech. 3 runs over 6 innings against the yankees on the road is blech?

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 01:53 PM) I hope some other team finds it encouraging enough to give us something of value for him. remember, he's always been a second half pitcher.
-
be still my heart - that would be one we never saw coming. Vernon Wells is sooo good.
-
Freddy pitched fine after the first inning. He says his arm feels great and it was the ball leaving his hand felt best it has all year. That's encouraging.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 18, 2006 -> 01:37 PM) Hopefully the darkside of the Sqwert won't need to be revealed. that just sounds wrong -
QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 09:35 PM) I'll honestly say Robertson is surprising the world. Who the hell knew he was going to pitch like this. Bonderman... no I'm not surprised at all. The kid has improved in almost every pitching statistic in each season he's pitched. He'll be a future ace on this staff right next to Verlander when it's all said and done. their pitching is set up to be good for a long while. Add another veteran to take Rogers' place and Detroit will be a force. I am a bit surprised there's so much optimism regarding Maroth's return. It was elbow surgery, after all.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 01:23 PM) No more losing. seriously. I'm tired of being in a foul mood. -
QUOTE(flbob @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 06:55 PM) garland - robertson: advantage robertson vazquez - bonderman: advantage bonderman a cat fight between kittie fans, I dig it. aren't you guys amazed at how well bonderman and robertson are pitching this year? their ERA's are more than a full point lower than their career averages. Even more impressive, in bonderman's case it's nearly a point less than last year and in gumboy's case it's more than a point lower than last year. think those numbers will hold up?

ESPN Report: Kenny Looking at Scott Linebrink

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 05:58 PM) Cheat posted in his Blog that SD turned down Austin Kearns for Linebrink stright up... Here is the link to the story. http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20...15padnotes.html sounds like his value might exceed his worth in this market. Why would the friars part with him? -
ESPN Report: Kenny Looking at Scott Linebrink

could it be Fields for Linebrink straight up? -
Jay was just on Around the Horn and when the topic became the Sox, everyone EXCEPT Jay said the Sox will not make the playoffs.

QUOTE(ViperPilot @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 01:16 PM) I'm pretty sure I know when the season ends....that still doesn't answer the question about your starting pitching......are you or are you not happy with your starting pitching? Do you think they can turn it around and be as good as they were last year, or do you need to trade for a starter to end the year.... the starters have been inconsistent. Vasquez was great in the beginning then went to s***. Garland was s***ty for a spell and now he's 4-0 over his last 5 starts with an ERA less than 4. I sat in the stands and watched Freddy pitch his ass off against the Cardinals to win a game in which we were one-hit and still won, then watched him give it up sweet this weekend in the bronx (not in person, mercifully). Happy? Ask me next week and my answer will probably be different then this week. But I'm sure as hell not panicking. If a move needs to be made KW will make it. Who cares if their season ERA's are higher than last year if they start pitching better and do it more consistently. Harrelson is a homer and full of it most of the time but on one point he's dead on - this team has not clicked yet. And when they do it's gonna be lights out.

QUOTE(ViperPilot @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 10:36 AM) I know I'm not telling you anything, but I'd be pretty concerned if I was a White Sox fan right now with your starting pitching... With the second best record in baseball, it's hard to get concerned. Some of you guys seem to think the season ends in July. There's nearly half a season left to play. That's a lot of games.
-
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 02:21 PM) We've gotta sweep. I couldn't disagree more. We've got to NOT get swept.
-
QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 17, 2006 -> 09:46 AM) You got that right, Jordan. I'll take a slump now, thank you, rather than ever go through that again. That was brutal. Finally winning in Detroit (clinching) last year wasn't so much enjoyable as it was a RELIEF. Whew. Never again. ditto. I had to have fingernails surgically restored.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Yup. We have an off day tomorrow. People are gonna be rested. I hope you're right - looked like both Dye and PK were tired/hurting. I know the flu has something to do with this and can weaken you for a few days at least, especially when you're playing major league baseball in the heat. The sox are out of sync so I'm not putting much hope into this 3 game series. They have the look of a team on a 7 or 8 game skid. Here's hoping I'm wrong yet again. -
The Sh*t Pitching Stops Here: Sox @ Yanks

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) Every season he has been a starter. Yesterday was the 22nd time in his career. awesome! nice work

It's great to know that KW will make a move to bolster the bullpen. It's something we don't even have to worry about.

QUOTE(ViperPilot @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 04:47 AM) The point is that if we play .500 vs you guys the rest of the way, we're going to take the division..... I love your confidence in the tigers and I am being very sincere when I say that. I would be saying the exact same thing in your place. I'm glad you guys post around here. I think it's ridiculous that ESPN and others rank the Sox as the best team in baseball. The tigers are the best team in baseball. Period. Right now, that is. No doubt about it. And if their pitching continues then I will be proven wrong in a big way. I just don't think it will hold up. And no amount of Leyland pep talks or calls for "Nine Innings!" is gonna make a bit of difference come September and they begin to feel the real strains of a pennant chase. Outside of Pudge, who's been in that situation? Mags? I've watched him fold like a tent in pressure. Here's to a fun second half

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 12:45 AM) The only question now is how they're going to be able to handle adversity when some really hits. The Sox did a dynamite job of it last year, and pulled out of it before it was too late. The Tigers aren't going to win 115 this year, their pitching isn't going to be the best in recorded history, so some things are going to go wrong at some point. AMEN Looks like they're off to a great start in the second half, just like the sox did when they had a 15 game lead in July. Does anyone seriously believe that the tables can't be turned in this division if the Tigers hit a rough patch for 10 games while the Sox are on a roll for 10 games? So they're beating a AAA team at home while the Sox are losing to the yankees in the bronx. I'd be more concerned if they were gaining ground playing the yankees while we were playing the KC farm club. QUOTE(loltrain @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 08:50 AM) If we are able to go .500 against Chicago the rest of the year I'm sure we'd be happy. really? Come on, seriously, you won't be happy unless you lay some wood to the Sox. It's okay...let it out. We can help.
