  1. Didn't widger go yard against RJ last year? I'm desperate to feel good about him playing tonight. QUOTE(soxunited @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 03:30 PM) Widger's stats against Johnson: .250 BA in 12 AB's, .308 OBP Ozuna's stats against Johnson: .500 in 4 AB's, .500 OBP Widger just might do alright at the plate, it's how the game will be called that is a bit concerning. Contreras will keep him in line though ozuna looked awful at the plate last weekend. hope that was just a glitch...and not a return to form.
  2. too bad it only helps me get one Sox game, tonight's. Tomorrow it's blacked out (in the west), Sunday it's on WGN and Monday is an off day. I still think MLB.TV, for those of us stuck on the job when Sox games begin, is a great deal.
  3. I LOOOVE beating the yankees in the bronx. Sox take 2 of 3, KC splits. 1.5 back going into Tuesday.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 01:00 PM) The one thing I will take heart in is that it's hard for me to fathom how our starting pitching could possibly be any worse in the next half. Buehrle, Vazquez, Garland, and Garcia are all pitching significantly worse than their career marks, and Contreras hasn't gotten in a good groove since hitting the DL. If the law of averages holds, then these guys are almost all due for more consistent performances throughout the rest of the season. great point!
  5. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 10:25 AM) I'll say this. We will have a better second half this season then we had last season when we basically played .500 ball throughout. let's hope you're right. I think the tight race might make a difference...then again, I doubt the Sox layed off last season when they slumped.
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jul 10, 2006 -> 10:52 PM) The White Sox went 52-22 against the AL Central last year. If you think Detroit is going to slow down against the AL Central, just because they are supposed to, you are sorely mistaken. I think the central is much improved from last season. I would be very surprised to see them continue to dominate minny and cleveland like they have so far this season.
  7. It's a nice testament to Rowand that fans want him back so much. But honestly, I would hate to see KW give up on a top prospect after 1/2 a season.
  8. I'm curious to see how Leyland handles Verlander in the second half. I'm assuming he'll skip a few starts where he can, maybe call up a spot starter if the roster allows. The unsung hero for that staff has to be Miner. Kid just keeps putting up zeros and giving his team a chance to win. The kitties are 23-10 against the Central: 22-5 against teams not named White Sox. That's amazing. Hard to imagine they'll keep up that up, though.
  9. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 05:46 PM) I wish we could get rid of Widger. He calls some terrible games this year, and he can't hit for s***. look where his glove was on that dinger -- right in his wheel house instead of down. Mark throws it at the glove.
  10. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 12:50 PM) I don't think it's a physical thing. All I know is what I read when he went on the DL, that he has bone chips in his shoulder.
  11. The simple fact is that Cliff needs surgery on his shoulder. This shouldn't be a tough decision. Obviously KW and Oz know more than us, but I find it odd that they keep thinking that Cliff will come out of this as if he's in a funk rather than battling an injury.
  12. I've read that Houston, when the roof is closed, can be deafening.
  13. I heard Iguchi will be back tonight -- any chance Pablo will get the start in left?
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 06:32 PM) He might have already had his "Big inning"... I'm still smiling about BA's catch that kept it from being even bigger
  15. for some reason I don't want boston coming in on a 4 game losing streak
  16. Since the game has such significance for the Sox if they return to the series, I kind of was hoping Liriano would get it. He's lights out and Oz could use that kind of pitching. Then again, I voted several times for AJ. Schizo.
  17. How sweet it would be if Javy gets a good start going into the break.
  18. seems like our starters feed off each other, good and bad. Like to see count come back and have a strong game tomorrow, followed by Garland and Vazquez. Could give them a nice lift going into the break. There's a legitimate chance of all 5 winning 15 games, and that's pretty impressive.
  19. When it comes to jumping off a ledge I'm generally the one shoving through the line to be first. But it's real hard to be real worried when my team has won their last 8 series...as in 8 straight. we are a spoiled crew.
