Why is it everytime I see Anderson's name in there I smile? I just love it when he plays, maybe it's because I don't have to worry about the OF defense for a game.
with everything that's gone down this week - discussions in the media about him going back to AAA, the platoon situation - I'm hoping he responds by breaking out and getting on track. I don't know enough about major league batters to diagnose his problems, whether it's approach or mechanics, but if it's simply mental, then maybe this will get him going.
At least I'm hopeful that it does.
I was sitting in left field at Camden Yards in '93 during the home run derby (believe it or not, right next to John Rooney's wife who introduced herself when she saw my Sox cap).
Everyone was trying to catch home run balls, naturally. Until Frank came up, that is. He hit a laser on his first dinger that sent us all ducking. After that there was a palpable buzz.
Then he hit one off the third deck. People went nuts. Damn that man can hit a ball HARD.

A lot of people in 2003 would have taken Mark Prior over almost every other pitcher in the league too. Talent only gets you so far sometimes.
are you saying Prior's washed up? A bust?

I take it neither Iguchi or Thome's deep hit to center were close to going out?
if thome would've hit it anywhere else in the park it was gone
Gload? As in "Ross" Gload? He's still on the team?
Actually, I'm surprised he isn't DH'ing and Thome playing first so he can get some practice before they hit NL parks next week.

This is the lineup I'd like to see tonight:
Pods, Iguchi, Thome, Dye, AJP, Crede, Gload, Mackowiak, Cintron
PK looks like he could use a day off.
I hate watching them play like s*** and give away wins, but I do think this team will figure it out and start playing more consistent. KW's not going to code blue this team when it's 1.5 games out.
seriously, if I was gonna move Juan it would be to the two spot. Put pressure on him to have good at bats. He wasn't bad there before. Anything to spark some life into his bat.
I just hope this is a temporary thing. What if he's having a very bad year like Kong did not so long ago.
He fired another gem tonight against the Angels who've really been playing better of late. He's now 4-0 with 3 starts and a 2.11 ERA. I watched him and I've got to say his stuff is truly electric.
If the twinkies get Radke on track, they'll make it even harder in the central. This season is so, so far from over...
