  1. Boone. Where did we go wrong? Sox defense is shaky all around and has been for more than just this game.
  2. 70's - Oscar Gamble and Chet Lemon (toss up - great team in 77) 80's - Ozzie (always fun to watch, used to call him "slappy") 90's - Robin (not a selfish whiner like...someone else) 00's - Ray Durham (still miss him)
  3. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ May 15, 2006 -> 04:29 PM) If he keeps hitting like he has, he'll certainly get that gold glove. that's the sad truth. Offense should have no bearing but it does. I think what happened to Crede in the post season has given him tremendous confidence. And the fact that he's always been a second half player makes this great start even more exciting!
  4. QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 15, 2006 -> 12:00 PM) transformers have all the fun. damn! that looks delicious! never been to Portillo's...but I'll be in Chicago in June. Looks like I need to add it to my list o' things to do!
  5. QUOTE(Steff @ May 15, 2006 -> 10:56 AM) That just sounds nasty. oddly enough, in Thome's case, that's more appropriate than you might realize! But let's not go there just now.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 15, 2006 -> 10:50 AM) Ya, I don't have DJ today. I got the Twins cast on Xtra innings. Me too. I actually like listening to Jack Morris, subbing for Blylevin. Morris is a great analyst and one of the best pitchers I ever saw.
  7. for a guy who's only 29, it's surprising to me that Freddy has lost so much velocity on his fastball.
  8. It would be just like the Twins to turn things around in a series against the Sox. They could very well feed off of Satan's start. Radke's a competitor and Javy hates the dome. One start there and he got shelled.
  9. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ May 13, 2006 -> 09:01 AM) Its fantastic... if you can get past Chris Berman's absurd call of game three against boston.... No s***. My favorite? Sixth inning, El Duque vs. Damon, bases juiced, 3-2 count: "Oh no! He struck out!" then of course as they're going to commercial he makes some blubbered remark about El Duque, sort of an after thought. It should've been: "HE STRUCK HIM OUT! HE STRUCK HIM OUT! EL DUQUE WORKS HIS MAGIC! That's one of the greatest pitching performances I've ever seen in my life!! WOW!!" speaking of which...any chance the duke might be available around the trade deadline?
  10. I think the Dodgers are headed for the tank in a month or so. Too many old guys who are prone to injury. They've got some good young arms.
  11. Nelson debuts in Charlotte: hurry Jeff - Garland's taking the gas and he's going to wear out the pen in no time.
  12. Twinkies are heating up. I'll be happy with a split, but if Big Jon can steal one tonight, that would be oh so sweet.
  13. I thought Rowand made a better catch in yankme stadium last year, laying out to rob jeter. I'm glad he's doing well, but I don't miss watching him whiff at low and away breaking balls. He has a terrible eye for the ball, IMO. And the Sox desperately needed some punch in the lineup - no way we were going to win that many one run games again. What's to miss?
  14. It's official now: Aaron Rowand, Philly fan favorite. way to go crash...
  15. I hate the war in Iraq. I loathe our president and his party. But I firmly support an all out assault on Iran's nuclear aspirations. Please, no misguided occupation this time. Just a steady diet of cruise and tomohawk missiles, or as Daffy Duck once said, "give them a taste of the cleansing sting of superior Yankee firepower." And this letter business? Please. He's buying time.
  16. The best was the other night when Jose Mota interviewed Uribe after the game. Either he's never talked to Juan before or couldn't get anyone else. I love Juan, but for the love of god, I have NO IDEA what that man is saying, other than "ya know", which he says about 40 times with every sentence. If any of you have MLB.TV you can check it out, it's right after the game ends on Tuesday. Hilarious.
  17. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:20 PM) f***, I planned my night around this. yup, me too. It's on local TV in LA. I was going to fire up the grill around 4:30... midwest weather blows. Oh well. I can still QUOTE(G&T @ May 11, 2006 -> 12:30 PM) It rained all night, and the sun hasn't come out so the field has had no chance to dry really. So yeah I think it's cancelled. and this don't look pretty... http://weather.chicagotribune.com/radar/mi...ze=2x&type=loop
  18. On a side note, I had my bosses seats last night, first row behind the Dodger dugout. I got Tomko's attention when he came off the field in the sixth and told him Pierzynski sends his love. I know - lame. But I was bored and it was a blowout.
  19. what does a wet grip do to a knuckleballer? this game's going to be played in a steady drizzle, it seems.
  20. QUOTE(fullcollapse @ May 8, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) mostly twins fans here, then probably cubs and yankees then maybe st. louis. not too many sox fans around. did you drive to Anaheim last October for a playoff game? I met someone and his girlfriend (or wife) in the parking lot who had SD plates, thought it might be you.
