  1. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 5, 2006 -> 03:28 PM) Do you have a "Jumping to Conclusions" mat at your front door, by chance? If I remember the song correctly, the knee bone's connected to the leg bone, the leg bone's connected to the foot bone. Therefore I think he does have a valid point. I would order immediate exploratory surgery of the hip just to be on the safe side. Stat.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ May 4, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Ultimately, pitching and defense is what will win us another title end of discussion
  3. obviously the winning is fun to watch, especially since the Sox are hot. But I'm really, really curious because I have a sneaking suspicion that maybe they aren't "hot" but are simply this damn good. No, I don't expect them to win at a .700 clip, but this could be an extraordinary season, much like the Bulls going 72-10. I don't think it was an accident that this team went 11-1 in the playoffs last year. It's probably the crack, but I got a feeling the Sox might just put a beating on the league all the way to another parade.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:46 AM) If there was ever a game where it was going to happen, it was today. This road trip was a very tough schedule, and we should be thrilled that we went 5-3 on it. agreed. solid road trip early in the season. I'll take it.
  5. Alex Cintron with 7 LOB. nice. Wonder if Thome would've left that many on....
  6. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ May 2, 2006 -> 11:31 AM) I'm not gonna pile on, but I've never been a fan of Uribe's offense. Pull up my old posts or ask the guys who would chat during games last year. He rarely seems to have a plan at the plate or even understand the game situation or what is required of him at any particular time. His swing is the same just about every time and nothing about it suggests that he is trying to do anything besides hit the ball as hard as he can hopefully within play and not right at someone. I've always been amazed that hits above .200. he's a free swinger, but he's also a fantastic fielder. He's not going to stay below .200 for long, he'll warm up.
  7. Juan needs another session with Walt. What happened to the timing thing he was doing last year that worked so well??? wish he would hurry up and snap out of this s***.
  8. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 1, 2006 -> 12:11 PM) Then again, much of what goes on in So Cal in general is beyond compehension as well. that's why we like you folks to stay right where you are.
  9. QUOTE(hi8is @ May 1, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) being that ive been rooting for the sox in the angels stadium since i was about 5 years old..... its nice to FINALLY be on the winning side of things... i remmeber my dad and i going to 3 or 4 game series and being happy to see just one win... thats how bad our sox used to do out here.... now its nice to be the winners, the champs... its nice to have bitter fans jelious and angry at you... its nice to have 70 year old discruntled old people throwing beer and peanuts at you because of your hat its nice to have talented players and hear every excuse in the book from their fans when we just straight up beat them! MUAHAHAHAHAH bring it on angels YES! my all time worst Sox game in Anaheim? Danny Wright's 19-0 loss. my best? Sitting behind homeplate and watching Bo Jackson launch a monster shot to dead center. (okay, watching the Sox win the pennant was probably better, but Bo was AWESOME).
  10. QUOTE(hi8is @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) I went to the game, and on the way home I was listening to the local angels network... some angel fan called in and said that as AJ came out to catch and was introduced, the crowed BOOED and then AJ as a result flipped the crowd off. hah i was too far to see it, did anyone else notice this?? I heard it on the drive home from the game as well and then I tried to call in. I saw exactly what he did and was sitting pretty close at the time. He DID NOT flip anyone off, he simply gave a wave, sort of a salute. He even cracked a smile because the boos were ridiculously loud. On a funnier note, last night during the "kiss cam" between innings, the last "couple" asked to smooch for fans was Hawk and DJ.
  11. Lisa Dergan helped put this together. It's good to marry a bunny!
  12. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 02:00 PM) If Konerko hadn't had that 1 gigantic slump last year, he would have been a .315 hitter. Yes, he's above that now, but it's not like he can't hit well over .300 for a season. he's only done it once in his career - .304 in '02
  13. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 02:30 PM) Counting the 2 in Cleveland after this, it's an 8 game road trip. We did great on this homestand, so give me 5-3 on this trip and i'll be VERY pleased, and 4-4 wouldn't be all that bad as long as 1 of the wins is a game in Cleveland. Cleveland match up looks to be: Vasquez vs. Westbrook Buehrle vs. Lee Those will be damn good pitching duels.
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:19 PM) At this time last year, (going by memory only) Pods, Iguchi, and Crede all were north of .300. None of them finished the year there. It's about consistency. I'll get excited when 3 guys are above .300 at the ASB. agreed. I was hoping that Crede's breakout after time on the DL last year would carry over and so far it seems to have. I'm surprised by Kong's average. Thome's doing wonders for the pitches he's seeing. I think Iguchi is here to stay. Dye? There's a slide in his future. Same for AJ. But I do think Anderson, Uribe and Pods will continue to come on.
  15. still too early IMO to make any predictions. Injuries are just starting to change the look of some teams. The Indians bullpen is devastated. And does anyone really think Jason Johnson is that good? not I. Nor do I think Casey Blake can maintain his torrid pace. Martinez, on the otherhand...that guy's scary good.
  16. he's not even throwing off a mound - should've had surgery in the off season to fuse the discs. Put a fork in Hermie.
  17. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:59 AM) I originally planned to swing down for the Friday game (I'm currently in Oregon) but now I have a court date in Chicago Friday morning court date? hell, just come down to Anaheim then keep going to Mexico! Last year, during the playoffs in Anaheim, I met a couple in the parking lot who had some Sox gear on so I naturally stopped to chat. Their license plate was from South Dakota and they had driven all the way just to catch the Sox. Most impressive.
  18. I'm psyched for the trip to Anaheim. Any so-cal soxtalkers heading down to the orange curtain for next weekend's series? Friday: Freddy vs. Weaver Saturday: Contreras vs. Escobar Sunday: Garland vs. Santana should be a tough series
  19. It's weird, but Venezuelan Spanish is comparable to say, West Virginian English. It's even made fun of in South America, sort of how we poke fun at southerners. Some of that carries over when they learn English (I don't know why).
  20. Wow. And this guy covers baseball for a living?
  21. how close was that to being a grand slam? Gameday showed the dot on the warning track.
