  1. I trust things will change, but man there are some easy outs in our lineup right now, not the least of which is BA. They're getting that guy out on 3 pitches.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) I just don't know why everyone's treating Pods like he's a superstar. If he's not ready to hit yet this season, then put his ass on the bench. It's not like he's a game-changer, no matter what his condition is. His 1-19 with no power can easily be replaced right now. you're preaching to the chorus, amigo. I'd have him in Charlotte getting 30 AB's before he came back.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 11:54 AM) Put Pods 9th, move Iguchi to the leadoff spot, and Uribe to the 2nd spot. I know it's early, but when you have someone swinging the bat as well as Thome is in the 3rd spot, it sucks to keep having an automatic out in the leadoff spot. can't see Oz doing something that drastic, especially this early.
  4. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Apr 9, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) Tough for me to feel sorry for a guy making $12 million... yup. And until he shows otherwise, teams are going to pitch around Thome even more to get to PK. nice play Jermaine
  5. My sister in law is friends with Bill Veeck's daughter. She received a World Series Ring from the White Sox. I thought it was a class move on Jerry's part and worth mentioning.
  6. man I'm glad this is early in the season. Where are the base hits?
  7. Sanders was a great pick up for the Royals - always a clutch hitter
  8. I guess that's what happens when you marry a playboy bunny. Let that be a lesson to all of us.
  9. off topic, but it's been in my head. agree or disagree? Konerko > Brousard Iguchi = Belliard Uribe Crede > Boone AJ Pods = Michaels Anderson Dye > Blake Thome = Hafner Buehrle > Sabathia Garcia = Westbrook Contreras > Lee Garland = Byrd Javy >> Johnson
  10. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Apr 6, 2006 -> 11:11 AM) I don't know how anyone could possibly think Ozzie is a good in-game manager. There is one, actually. Allow me to introduce myself.
  11. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) I didn't think that Garland would repeat his 3.50 ERA from last year even before this season started. A prediction is just that -- a prediction. None of us actually knows what will happen. OH.MY.LORD, I don't think that Garland will repeat on his one season that was insanely better than the rest of the seasons in his career. JUST CALL ME A CRAZY MAN! Buehrle, Garland, and Contreras all had career years last season. Expecting them all to just repeat those seasons isn't 100% reasonable. I'm too psyched to see Vazquez pitch tomorrow to start worrying about Garland. Can you believe that guy is our 5th starter???
  12. You can tell the Sox players have already resigned themselves to a losing season. There's major friction in the clubhouse and Ozzie's lost complete control of the team. Konerko's a cancer, who knew? Is Mariotti starting some of these threads? I'm a White Sox fan but in all honesty very much a pragmatist who can step aside from my allegiance to the Sox and be rational. That said, this ballclub is going to blow you away this year. Hang on and enjoy it.
  13. This is one of the funniest threads I've ever read on Soxtalk. The season is not even a week old and already "sage" analysis of ONE outing by a pitcher is being scrutinized and the "conclusions" projected over the course of the season. Holy s***. That's f***ing funny stuff, seriously. Thank you for that.
  14. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 7, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) Yes, whats the deal it's been this way all day - f'n pissing me off
  15. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 4, 2006 -> 01:26 PM) It's a good thing Pods didn't need that many spring training ABs to get into shape. I don't know where we'd be without him.
  16. the bulls always seemed to lose the game of their ring ceremony. Then of course went on to DEE-STROY the league. re-focus tomorrow and come out and get the series.
