  1. Doesn't look like it's going to be Tommy Hanson
  2. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Apr 21, 2014 -> 08:23 AM) Defensive stats are absolutely meaningless. The only good tool to judge defenders is your eyes. I don't agree that they're "absolutely" meaningless, but like all stats they fail to take into account unquantifiable variables, like weather, field condition, the speed at which a ball is traveling, defensive positioning (good coaching) and minor injuries that probably contribute a lot more to defensive range than even a 3-year average statistic will ever be able to measure. Like you, I prefer the eye test when it comes to defense. But there must be some validity to UZR since it seems to be used more and more in professional evaluation.
  3. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 20, 2014 -> 08:16 PM) Son, that was a serious White Sox winner. Play of the game was when Gillaspie and Flowers collided on the pop-up, and Tyler wanted to kick Conor's ass. You could just sense the tension. I hope he kicked his ass after the game. Hopefully he takes it out on Johnson who failed to call off Gillaspie. Pitcher's gotta take charge.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 19, 2014 -> 10:07 PM) According to chicagosports.com, Eaton's going to be out at least a few days. The hits keep on coming...just not by the offense. You mean you don't like Jordan Danks?
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 18, 2014 -> 12:56 PM) Dustin.Hermanson. I loved that guy.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 07:59 PM) Dude. The sooner you remember we are rebuilding the better you'll feel. They aren't the Astros.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 07:56 PM) Bullpen didn't look awful on paper. Jones getting hurt really killed this bullpen, IMO. While the move made sense, Davidson being awful so far doesn't help. As much as I like Nate Jones, he's been a shaky reliever for the most part, with periods of dominance peppered with periods of incompetence. Would he help? Sure, but you can't throw him out there every day.
  8. f*** this bullpen rick hahn. For all the good you've done in rejuvinating this team with fun offensive players, you screwed the pooch on the pen.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 07:51 PM) So why was Lindstrom warming up if he's not going to get used? Belisario is not a long reliever. It just seems like such a scramble by Ventura and Cooper to get this bullpen in order. Because Lindstrom blows? Just a guess.
  10. QUOTE (PorkChopExpress @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 10:19 AM) What Kenny Said: "All he has to do is call." What Kenny was thinking: "All he has to do is call and order tickets like anyone else."
  11. Like to see the heat get turned up on Cooper. Still like the guy but everyone's been slobbing his knob for so long it's probably gone to his head. What have you done for us lately, Coop?
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2014 -> 10:08 AM) One thing that killed the Sox last night was the inability to turn double plays in the 8th and 11th. Gillaspie lobbing the ball to Semien instead of leading him prevented the Sox from keeping a 3-1 lead in the 8th, and then not being able to turn the DP on Ortiz in the 11th seemed strange. ...and the opportunity to tack on a run or two in spots...so many reasons, but it still comes down to BB's. But I have to say, I love this team's fight. f***ing Flowers, that was clutch!!
  13. I don't see how you can blame Cleto, he's not the only one handing out free passes. Throw a dart out there and you'll hit a turd. This bullpen is just bad (at least right now), as in '07 bad. But if the Sox are going to be better this year they need guys like Cleto to get better and in pressure situations.
  14. Capuano is a f***ing gas can so please light him up
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 15, 2014 -> 08:26 PM) It's the anniversary of the Marathon bombing. Yeah I thought that was pretty classy
