  1. Farmio: "Light it up!" that's hot
  2. QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 23, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) Its perhaps odd to have a "must-win" game with a 1-0 lead, but I think this is precisely that kind of game. Even the posters here who are usually a tad overoptimistic are admitting that Oswalt will be a huge pain. For Houston to come out of Game 3 with a 2-1 lead and 2 more games at home would be, to say the very least, highly undesirable. The weight of the world is on Buehrle. That won't effect him one bit. But the cold weather and the Houston bats might. I wasn't thrilled about the Sox being tied at 1-1 going to Anaheim for 3 games. But after what I saw in the ALCS I'm not about to put too much weight on a loss at home.
  3. I wouldn't put too much stock in that happening again, that's for sure. Like AJ said, you don't expect that to happen. It was most awesome, however.
  4. It's even worse with the super bowl -- it's one big corporate outing
  5. Glad to see the VP's office putting tax dollars to use in a smear campaign that borders on treasonous. As someone once said, give republicans enough time and they will step on their own dicks.
  6. this song reminds me of a Styx song...too much time on my hands.
  7. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) Bush and his followers are nothing but lying cheats, rapers, stealing thugs, who know how to solve all the world's problems but choose not to, kick puppy dogs right in the teeth, drink the blood that comes out of those teeth, and then goes on tv at night to talk about how good the blood tastes. Is that about right? they kick puppies? assholes!
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 11:28 AM) Jay has to grow some balls. To learn how, he should listen to Gammons talk about the Red Sox, or Rush talk about Reagan. That kind of criticism takes big balls. Not the crap that Jay writes. What's really a shame is that once you get past all the adolescent jabs he makes at the sox and their fan base, he usually has something to say. But it's so hard to get past all that crap. Even today's article about the Sox, suggesting that if they don't win the WS then this is all for not, they'll be forgotten. WTF? By who, Jay? You?
  9. Good points made about the Cards vs. Astros and the breaks Houston got... Linky
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Oct 20, 2005 -> 09:10 AM) Unlike Stone Phillips and Steven Colbert...Mike North does not have sufficient Gravitas. that was pretty hilarious, wasn't it? "Mother Theresa declined to comment..."
  11. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 06:22 PM) Uribe is good about it, if he really gets into one he'll finish with his hands in the air but that is it. When he hits one out he runs his ass off around the bases. I could've sworn that it was Uribe who was in the dog house earlier this year for standing at the plate to admire what he thought was a homer but wasn't, no?
  12. Phil Garner is a tool. And he hates the Sox. I still think he called for Weaver to hit CLee in 2000 that eventually led to the retaliation and brawl. Guess I'm searching for less stats, more emotion!
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) MJ? No thanks. I'd love to see MJ!
  14. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 09:37 AM) It is funny how we have little to no celebrity fans. Oh well. Just adds to the working-class mythology I guess. how many celebrity fans does Tampa have? Come on man!
  15. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 06:00 AM) Look here Mr. Roboto, it's High Time you take a Midnight Ride since you're obviously Born For Adventure and are such a Lonely Child, Babe. Since this is the First Time in a long time (and we may be living on Borrowed Time) that the Sox are in the World Series, and we are just waiting for The Grande Finale, we should get along. But obviously you think you're The Great White Hope and you have to spend your time mocking me. So why don't you and the other Superstars get through this little Cold War?
  16. Now that the Sox are in the national spotlight, some people who know I'm a Sox fan have been asking, "so what's the deal with the Cubs vs. Sox thing - why the hate?" Like it or not there's a certain appeal to the rivalry, a city divided in its fan loyalties. It keeps things interesting, IMO, and I don't think it's a bad thing. And I think the Sox cracking the WS is going to have major repercussions, just you wait and see. I have two nephews (9 and 7) who live a couple of miles from Wrigley. Both sadly went to the dark side before I could save their souls. Yet in speaking to them on the phone this week I could hear their excitement for the Sox. I took them to games this summer when I was in town and they loved Fundamentals and so did their parents, who promised to bring them back. In a couple of weeks I'm hopeful that we will be able to add these two to our growing ranks, no matter how hard guys like Moronotti try to convince fans that the Cubs are still somehow preferrable.
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) I see Miss America has joined the discussion, why don't you Come Sail Away? I think you all should just Light Up and Be Happy.
  18. QUOTE(hi8is @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 03:14 PM) did you happen to see a guy in the angel stadium with his face painted and a sox hat on? just wondering if they showed me on tv =D were you the one with stripes down your face? If so I was standing near you behind the dugout celebration! Wish I would've known - how fun was that??
  19. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Hint: I used to do this back in the day when I used to get high. which would explain the move to Utah?
  20. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) Hey... how's KW looking now? I just wrote him a letter which he'll probably never read but it was written in all sincerity. I have been down on KW for a long time for a number of reasons but he proved once again why it's a damn good thing I'm just a fan and a guy like him is running this show. I will be forever grateful to him for the changes he made, hiring Ozzie, etc. My beloved Sox are in the Series. Pinch me.
  21. QUOTE(LVSoxFan @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) Long gone are the days, if you're old enough, when back in the 70s you'd turn on a game and there'd be maybe 8,000 people there. And now that they're "redoing" the park and adding more bleacher seats... they'll be as popular as ever. So no, I am saying it: I highly doubt Chicago will ever become a "Sox" town. It's just not gonna happen. At least not to the level of the Cubs. The Cubs are Chicago what the Red Sox are to Boston--the fabled, mythical, cursed team. That's not a dig on us: I'm proud of the fact that I'm from Chicago and am 100% Sox and hate the Cubs. Hopefully after the WS we'll have even more elite status: world champions. I guess you're right, things have changed. You see, I was a kid in the 70s, my first baseball game in 1972 was at Comiskey. The Cubs were a futile team then, like the Indians were. I didn't hate the cubs - it was like hating the kids who rode in the short yellow school bus. They were just so bad. But win a world series and see what happens. The Sox will instill a sense of pride that is absent in Cubland. The argument will no longer be about ambiguities - whose fans are better, whose team plays to win, and so forth - but about reality. Winning. I just don't think you can underestimate it. On a side note, although I still don't give the cubs much thought one way or the other, I have always had a fear of what would happen if they won a WS before the Sox did.
  22. QUOTE(traydragen @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) 1) Has/Did anyone record those games on dvd or video? And if you did I would much like to get a copy of each, I will pay for everything + some extra dough..and 2) Is there anyway to get copies of the Chicago Tribune from out of South Carolina, without having a subscription to the newspaper? I am guessing some newstand carries the Chicago Tribune around here but I'm not sure if there is a way to order just one copy from the Tribune itself..?? Thanks for the help guys..ohh yea and I know you can buy the games on MLB.TV to download to your computer. I don't know about the newspaper thing, sorry.
  23. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 17, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) Screw the flip-floppers on ESPN. that pic in your sig says it all, doesn't it?
