  1. Big games against Minnesota in September and the Sox are slumping. I hate flashbacks.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) This is the official "pass the crackpipe" thread of soxtalk. (No offense to the topic starter) no offense taken I raise the idea only because we've blown so many leads in the late innings recently. We don't have a reliable closer. Today Guillen suggested that Cotts might get a chance. Give me the duke over Cotts anyday.
  3. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Dare to dream, baby. Dare to dream! that's what it's all about!
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 02:42 PM) El Duque's numbers in inning #1: AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI BB HBP SO SB CS AVG OBP SLG OPS Inning 1 87 21 26 3 1 8 20 8 3 17 7 1 .299 .370 .632 1.002 I think you have to throw that out the window and consider what he can do in a clutch situation. We need a closer. Bad!
  5. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 02:39 PM) SURVEY SAYS: DING DING DING WALKS "HBP was a close second with 43."
  6. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 02:28 PM) I like this lineup. Let's get some hits. yeah, let's hope a free swinger with a .250 average is going to take some pitches and drive some runs in.
  7. Fatigue or scouting reports seem to be catching up with Bobby Jenks. Why not use the Duke as a closer? He LOVES pressure and pitching in important games/situations. He's doing nothing now but keeping Count company on the bench. thoughts?
  8. QUOTE(rudylaw @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) Call me crazy but we should go with who is hot. JOE CREDE. I never thought I would say that... Joe Crede the # 3 hitter wow. Why not. El Duque Sucks so we are going with McCarthy in that spot why not pu Big Joe in the 3 hole. Joe Crede It's not crazy at all. The problem is it makes too much sense.
  9. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) JUST HIT THE f***ING BALL AND LET THE REST FIGURE ITSELF OUT.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 09:04 PM) I'm just disappointed that the kid went out there and absolutely dominated yet another team, and we couldn't get him a win, yet again. This kid may very well win 20 next year. Wow. Brandon was absolutely amazing. I think that's what killed me too. I was just so impressed by his effort. And so dismayed by our bullpen trying to waste it immediately when they entered the game. Cleveland's due to have a rough outing, it just happens. You hit atom balls and make errors, you leave a pitch over the plate, etc. I just question whether KC or Tampa is the kind of team to take advantage of that. I think we should all be prepared for a series in Cleveland that these two teams enter tied.
  11. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) Oh, and their choke is still far worse than ours. I wouldn't be so sure about that just yet. If the Sox continue to play like they have for the last TWO MONTHS then I think it's safe to say our choke of a 15 game lead beats their 1969 collapse. You can't compare what happened in the NLCS because that was a game, not a season.
  12. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 01:36 PM) or ross gload even It's too bad he's getting so rusty on the bench, especially with the way he's swung the bat all f'n year. :headshake
  13. it could always be worse - we could have jobs trying to sell Sox season tickets for 2006
  14. wow just wow I think we can all find comfort in the fact that this team, as good as they were, does not deserve to make it if they can't win a game like this.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 22, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) Our hitters absolutely suck when they get RISP. This has been one of the worst stretches of selfish hitting I've ever seen. This offense should be embarrassed. Iguchi is now trying to pull the ball more than he has all season. Must be on the advice of his new agent.
  16. If they lose this one I think I'll actually be able to accept the collapse. They have only themselves to blame.
