  1. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) That makes him 5 for 34 (.147) against starting caliber pitching, and not great SP either based on the teams the Sox have played. Semien needs to go back down and get every day at bats, pushing him up to early will result in having the same conversation about him in three years that every one wants to have about Beckham. Would you feel better about him if those numbers were reversed? I'd love it if he were hitting higher than .235 and not leading the team in K's, but I like what I've seen so far. I also think some of the late relievers he's seen are actually better than some of the SP's. Bottom line, I'd rather see Marcus get AB's every day against major league pitching. I don't see the logic that his development will mirror Gordon's and fall into the same rut. If the Sox are committed to a season of developing young talent then that's even more reason to play Marcus. If anything I'd much rather part ways with Gillaspie and see Marcus at 3rd and Gordon at 2nd rather than sending the former down to AAA.
  2. QUOTE (hammerhead johnson @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 10:33 AM) He walked 75 batters in 90 innings last season. His WHIP was like 1.80. Considering the options, sounds like he's a winner
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 10:21 AM) If it is soon, our next starting pitcher will be one of Surkamp, Axelrod, or maybe Hanson if they see something fixable. We aren't signing a free agent. Unless somehow the Sox start looking like a contender and put pressure on Rick to do more than look at questionable options from within. Seriously, if they keep showing a knack for tenaciousness and winning, there will be added pressure to plug gaps.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 14, 2014 -> 08:46 AM) I'd rather the Sox move on from Beckham. He's drawing walks, playing solid defense, and his bat is starting to come around. I also strongly doubt he continues striking out at this current pace. I agree with this. I think he's just a better player. Saw this stat this morning: White Sox infielder Marcus Semien is hitting .412 (7-for-17) in the seventh inning or later.
  5. I'm not saying Bellisario, Paulino or Veal will absolutely start paying dividends, but to me it's still a bit early to judge. Not a great start at 5-5, but not terrible and certainly correctible if a few pitchers get on track. Keep in mind that Alexei Ramirez will not hit .400 this season, so there will be corrections in the offense as well. Let's see where they are in a couple of weeks.
  6. marcus has been failing at this so far this season, hope he turns it around
  7. Indians wearing out Sale early, probably trying to get to the sweet meat of the bullpen (Veal)
  8. fatty shows up late to ST and has shown no stones whatsoever. He even looks gassed right now! LOL

  10. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 03:12 PM) Playing up further than he would since he can't block the plate. Don't love that new rule. but if he caught it he was out

  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 9, 2014 -> 07:14 AM) <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"> Dude seems to be very cranky ever since people compared Abreu to him. Frank's ego was always his biggest flaw
