  1. Gotta make Howell bring the ball up just like they did to Wood last night. They laid off that ball diving low and started rapping out some hits. Howell throws similar junk. by the way, did anyone else notice that Carl looked like he was sort of limping rounding the bases last night?
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 14, 2005 -> 06:55 AM) Here's a crazy idea.....play Anderson for Everett tonight! From what I've read, Carl doesn't seem particularly thrilled about losing his spot in the 3-hole.
  3. This is the first line from the Angels game summary in today's LA TIMES, by beat writer Mike DiGiovanna: "So this is how it's going to be until the bitter end, the Angel pitching staff, especially the rotation, carrying a disproportionate share of the burden while the offense sleepwalks its way through large chunks of the season." Wonder what he would say if he were following the Sox all season!
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 07:21 PM) Welcome to my world. Man, I wish I would have just enjoyed things more when we were 15 games up instead of worrying about this type of struggle. Oh well, we'll know in 3 weeks what to think of this season. not to be grasping at straws, because I ran out a few weeks ago, but three weeks is a lot of time. That can be bad.....but it could be good as well. Time still to recover. And let's face it, it sure seems this team has hit bottom.
  5. QUOTE(daa84 @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 07:11 PM) looks like i was just a big bowl of wrong since there's nothing to do, let's talk about Lisa Dergan.
  6. Swinging in the rain, just swiiiiinging in the rain! What a glooooorious fee-ling, I'm whiffing again, I'm popping out big, just swinging, just swinging in the raaaaiiin.
  7. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) She scares me in this pic. OMG! be nice -- it's the twins jersey that's scaring you.
  8. Like many have already said, there's more to this than meets the eye. Don't overlook Damaso's last few outings where he's come in to either plunk or walk batters. Cooper was yelling at him on the mound one night. No matter what's happening behind the scenes, this is not the vibe you want coming down the stretch. Just ask the Angels.
  9. Carl in the lineup? :puke don't get mad -- I'm constantly eating crow when it comes to my assessment of the Sox, so hopefully Carl proves me wrong. here's a bigger question: Who's going to step up and put this team on his shoulders? Someone needs to get f'n hot and pick this team up. PK is showing signs of doing just that. Carl...why not you? Jermaine? Timo?
  10. I'm lost. I had no idea things had gotten this bad with Marte. This is bad for the team in a stretch drive. When he's on he's got closer stuff. WTF is this guy's problem??? :banghead
  11. win tonight boys, we'll worry about tomorrow....tomorrow!
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 13, 2005 -> 01:56 PM) You can have an IQ of 2 and lead a team to the best record in the AL if your team loves you and will run through walls for you, along with catching fire at the same time. Case in point, Ozzie Guillen. Ozzie is quite possibly the worst in game manager in the majors. There's no other way around it. It was looked over early on in the year because the team had a knack for coming back in a big way...you haven't seen that nearly as much in the latter part of the season, thus resulting in a slightly above .500 record in the second half of the season, along with inconsistency, and Ozzie's moves are being magnified now because of it. remember earlier in the year when all those moves based on his gut were paying off? Life has a funny way of balancing out. Still, I think he's a lot better than other managers but is still learning. And where I think he really shines is his philosophy: pitching, speed and defense. "Speed never slumps" he says, and he's right. I would even go so far as to say he's saved Kenny's job, given KW's love for right handed power hitters. It wasn't until Ozzie came along that the Sox started changing their approach. And some of KW's moves prior to Ozzie? :headshake
  13. If only I had the power, I would banish all playoff threads until we clinch.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) I fully expect to be residing in cali within the next 3 years, with a transfer, I shoul dbe set. Never one for the cold weather though, im guessing I will be in San Diego. I went to San Diego State -- that town is awesome. Just so much to do. Plus there's nothing like waking up on a Saturday morning in January, throwing on my shorts and a sweat shirt over my golf shirt and hitting the links. The sweatshirt will be off by the turn and the high a pleasant 72. That's when you start to think about those cold unfortunate souls!
  15. QUOTE(AssHatSoxFan @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 08:38 AM) CLE doesn't play Boston at all their schedule shakes out like this the rest of the way 7 KC, 6 CHW, 3 OAK, 3 TB I bolded what I feel is all the tribe really needs to be concerned with. I don't care how well the tribe is playing: the sox have owned them this season. Or here's a novel idea: just win and it doesn't matter what anyone else does.

For my money the best city in the country. And if you're a single straight guy, the ratio of single women is 9:1, according to my wife who lived there for 4 years. There are plenty of single men there, many just prefer the company of each other. My parents lived there for three years so I spent a lot of time visiting. Hope you get a chance to drive down the coast a bit. It's worth it.
  17. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) I noticed PaleHoseGeorge has finally lost his mind. In the roadhouse, he's collecting names of people doubting the club and denying them access to the website if they make the postseason. We should start doing this. It would sure root out the "dark clouds." He kicked me off last year when he and I exchanged posts about Mags signing with the Tigers. I said it was a mistake letting Ordonez go. At the time I thought it was. But George doesn't like to be crossed. He who has the most toys...
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) I do not think Cleveland is gonna win 70 percent of its games. Hopefully they get beat soon and drop 4-5 in a row. Really? Because the "collapse" of the Sox has just as much to do with Cleveland as it does the Sox poor play. The tribe could be playing just as s***ty as the Sox and they'd still have their big lead. I hate to give Cleveland any credit but they've earned it -- they're a better team than the Sox right now, in September, when it counts, and outside of Chicago they could very well wind up being the feel good story of the year in MLB. I will be physically ill if/when it happens. But the truth is that the Sox are playing not to lose. I would bet the indians are licking their chops at a chance to play the sox head on right now. Who wouldn't? I don't blame just Oz but virtually everyone on this team who isn't stepping up. Dye's not showing me dick in terms of leadership. And Carl? He is so f'n lost. And he looks like he's regained the weight he lost last year. this is probably going to get very, very ugly in the next few weeks. I feel worse for us than I do them...we're not getting paid.
  19. good. I'm tired and I think I'll spare the board my negativity tonight.
  20. check out the picture of Sorrenson on Gameday -- it's a mugshot
